Powerline By Original Power 0900-79 12-Volt DC Dual Socket Splitter with USB Charging Port

Powerline By Original Power 0900-79 12-Volt DC Dual Socket Splitter with USB Charging PortWorst! Product! Ever! This is a very poor quality design. When it is plugged into the socket, any little bump or jolt causes it to lose power. No matter what angle it is set in, it is physically impossible not to jiggle it. I drive a stick and every time I shift gears, the shifter knocks it out of kilter. Drives me crazy (those who know me say that it's a short trip) :-)

On the upside, the USB port worked and is a cool gadget. It powered my iBook nicely on a recent trip. Too bad the rest of it was such a piece of junk.

This is not the adapter you're looking for, move along.....

This thing blew out the fuses on 2 of my satelite radios, and blew out the fuse on my car while I was using the USB port to charge my iphone. When you plug things into it they come back out in short order. It also comes out of the socket that you plug it into. NOT happy. Its too bad because its a good idea.

I purchased this item mainly for the USB. I only had my cell phone plugged into it for about 10 minutes when I noticed the green light no longer lit and my phone no longer charging. When I pulled the unit out it was VERY HOT! When I got to work I pulled out the internal fuse and it was ok so it appears the unit is no longer functioning. Not much bang for the buck IMO.

I bought this unit for a driving vacation, and the entire unit stopped working after a few minutes. It may have been the fuse in the power outlet adapter, but I only had a GPS and an iPhone plugged in it.

Foolishly, I bought another one a few hundred miles away, hoping I had bought a lemon and that the product was probably good. Unfortunately, the USB died on this unit after a couple of hours.

I ended up using a larger more expensive power adapter with a Griffin double-USB powerblock. It worked fine except for the space it took up.

Would someone please make a product along these lines, that works well for people like me who have GPS, iPhones and other devices that need to be charged.

The product should also be solid, and not loosely rattle around on its hinges like this device. The product would ideally also have 2 USB ports and be able to charge iPods/iPhones/digital cameras without blowing a fuse.

Want Powerline By Original Power 0900-79 12-Volt DC Dual Socket Splitter with USB Charging Port Discount?

I have watched at least a half dozen of these fry. The USB port overheats a capacitor in the splitter, and then the whole thing is worthless.

If you bought one of these, and don't want it to fry, don't use the USB port. It appears that the USB port is what causes the failure of this miserable product.

My advice: Return it and wait for them to make a new model.

Curt Manufacturing 52022 Lockable Battery Box

Curt Manufacturing 52022 Lockable Battery BoxThis little battery box is well made, with a snap down lid that overlaps the sides enough to discourage, if not prevent, water entry. Drain holes in the bottom prevent any water from accumulating inside. I am using it to mount a battery switch and circuit breaker for an electric trolling motor in an open boat that has no instrument panel. The box provides plenty of protection from spray and rain for the connections and wiring inside. It is compact and is easily mounted on a flat surface by means of flanges with pre-drilled holes on either side. It has a wire access hole that will accommodate 8 AWG wire. It would be easy to drill a hole for larger gauge wire if necessary.

What can you really say about a simple battery box? The answer is...a bit more than you think.....first of all, the Curt Mfg box at about $10.00/unit is up to 3X as cost effective as many other similar models.....I'm a polymer expert....it looks like black co polymer utility poly propylene....for this application cant get much better....no corrosion, impact resistent, etc....also, unlike some UPE boxes. you can drill this easily for wire port access....its a consideration? Now to design, its lid is firm, seals well, locks in place and has a small paddlock hole if you want....complete utility in my view.....the perpendicular mounting plate has 2 holes....very flexible.....all in all, this unit deserves a 5 star....cheaper is not necessairly better, but in this case, you get it all......rock & roll Curt!!!!

Milwaukee 2663-22 18-Volt M18 1/2-Inch High Torque Impact Wrench with Friction Ring

Milwaukee 2663-22 18-Volt M18 1/2-Inch High Torque Impact Wrench with Friction RingI am a professional Audi and Vw dealer mechanic. This an excellent gun. Strong enough to take off wheels but light enough so it doesn't tire you out. I hardly use my air gun anymore.

I have always trusted the Milwaukee brand tools but this one is the best !! I used to have a corded Milwaukee impact with 300 ft-lbs, never had trouble with it, and sold it for almost what I paid for it. On a full charge I went over to my buddies garage to test it out and impresed everyone. First off everyone wanted to play with it, then I changed 2 tires on a Bobcat (the reagular one couldnt even budge the lugs), did a 4 wheel rotation on a van, even striped down a whole truck transmission, and still had two bars left on the battery !!! I definetly would recomend this tool to anyone. The first time you use it to change a tire on the freeway, it has paid for itself !! Milwaukee has a great reputation, awsome waranty, and even has parts available if needed !! Dont buy some China piece of crap likle Kobalt (Kobalt dosent even make the parts to fix the tools !!) buy from an American company !!

I went from an older Snap-On cordless impact to the Milwaukee and have no regrets. Several people I work with have the Craftsman Lith-Ion Impact and they were very impressed with the Milwaukee as well. 450 ft.lb. vs 300 ft.lbs in that case and for not that much more money. Its a great addition to my tool box!

Ok, I read many posts here and around about cordless impacts. To self disclose I am not a paid wrench by any stretch of the imagination. I am a serious do it yourselfer who has formal training as a shop teacher. While I don't use power tools anymore everyday, I know tools.

That out of the way, I have no real shop here at my house currently. I work in the driveway, the grass, etc. It sucks. I have plenty of tools that do the job, but all have drawbacks. Pulling the compressor and hoses from the shed, the extension cord from the cellar and the air tools out of my box to do a five minute job is painful, I have an older B&D/Craftsman electric impact that has served me well but struggles on real work. The design predates the newer hard hitting impacts by some time.

I wanted a cordless impact in the worst way. Snap On was the way to go everywhere I read. The new wrench looks tough, but it was beyond my price range heading into the holidays. I bought a Milwaukee 1/2" Set with 2 batteries and the 3/8" bare tool for right under $500. Only down side with this way was that I didn't get the light that comes in the set. I have a Makita 18V set a few years back, so i will use that light or my LED Rechargeable and save the $50 for the kids at Christmas. If you are jumping in and want both buy the kit, I imagine the light would be handy.

I did some tire swaps the first week, and both guns worked well. I pulled lugs from 3 cars with the 1/2" and did a focus tire swap with the 3/8" gun. I was impressed. But, as we all know, tires and lugs are easy. This weekend I did front wheel bearings on the Focus. Pulled tires, tie rods, strut bolts, Ball joints with the 3/8". No problems and the car is a 2002 and has 80,000 miles and a several PA winters full of salt on it. Then I used the 1/2" to pull the axle nuts, and they were a little rusty, so I wire brushed the threads and this just motored them right off. My electric struggled with axle nuts and I often would use a grinder to wire brush the threads, oil, and break loose by hand before the electric would help.

I am impressed. I am going to look for some tough things to break loose in the next few weeks, but I am satisfied this will do the job for me. Did I mention I am still on the first charge. The battery indicator makes this so nice to use, the 3/8 is at 3 of 4 bars and the half is at 2/4 bars. Time to keep on wrenching. This is definitely a why didn't I buy this sooner tool and I highly recommend it.

Powerfilm WeatherPro 15V 200mA Flexible Solar Panel PT15-30

Powerfilm WeatherPro 15V 200mA Flexible Solar Panel PT15-30Got this solar panel to power my 12v system for my fishing kayak. It is a very nice product, encased in thin plastic film making it flexible so I could stick it to the bow of my kayak. I use this to provide charge to the small 12v battery I keep in the airtight compartment. I have a bilge pump, led lights, 12v cigarette adapter and a spot light installed so far. This panel by far gets a lot of attention and questions about it, more so than the kayak itself.

Premium White Rapid Car Charger w/ IC Charger for NEW Creative the 'ZEN' / Zen Micro Photo / Zen Micro / Zen Neeon / Muvo Slim / XMOD
  • Brand new non-OEM
  • Vehicle Lighter Adaptor
  • Intelligent IC chip inside recognizes a full battery and automatically switch to a saver.
  • Plug never heats or overcharges the battery.
  • Short circuit protection.

You get what you pay for. In this case, junk. It lasted all of 2 days and one use. The wires fell out of the usb connection. Unfortunately for me it was while I was driving down the road on a 4 hour trip and within the first 30 min after leaving the house. I suggest buying something a bit more expensive that will last more than a couple days. Very poorly constructed connections.

I just installed this flip down DVD player in my Suzuki wagon. It went in real easily and looks really good. It's pretty thin so, it's not too big or hanging down too far to interfere with head space. It's easy to use and the picture is real nice. Here's my quick install video if you're looking to get a better idea of the DVD player or looking for help to install it.

Buy PYLE PLRD92 9-Inch Flip Down Monitor and DVD Player with Wireless FM Modulator/ IR Transmitter Now

I was excited when I first got this dvd player and did the install myself on my 2007 Odyssey EX-L (with sunroof, but no factory RES). I also bought a pair of XO Vision IR-620 headphones which work okay, were cheap, but do have a noticeable hum. The unit itself wasn't hard to install the trouble I had was mostly because the Odyssey's headliner is a challenge to bring down. The mounting screws that come with the unit are way too short, though. You'll probably need to pick up some longer ones at the hardware store. There's six screws that mount the unit to the mounting bracket I used 4mmx30 (70 pitch), i believe. I bought a couple extra long (55mm) screws too that make installing easier. You also need four short sheet metal screws to mount the bracket to the cross beam in the roof just behind the sunroof. Might want to pick up some insulated quick connectors, too. Oh, and before you go through the install, connect the unit to the battery and make sure it works.

After installing I sat in the 3rd row seats and discovered that the headphones cut out. Leaning forward about 6 inches, they'd come on. The range was only about 3 feet! So I called Pyle. Service dept. was decent. I got hold of a rep with in a few minutes. They had me send the unit to Pyle's office on Dec 30 even tho I was a little beyond my 30 day Amazon return time. On Jan 10 I got it back. Not too bad considering it was over the New Year holiday and two weekends. They included a note that said they replaced the infrared bulbs. By the way, since i spent a good deal of time installing the mounting bracket and wiring, I only sent in the main dvd unit and kept the bracket installed in the van. Re-mounting the unit to the bracket is easy with the quick connectors. Biggest problem is lining up the 6 screws with the holes in the bracket (those extra long screws help here..) And I'm pleased to report that the range for the wireless headphones is fine now.

I do have a few complaints about the unit. First, the manual is poorly written. Parts of it read as though its broken English, like someone in China tried translating. The remote isn't intuitive and doesn't work from the driver's or front passenger seat. That's particularly irritating I thought I'd be okay with a model like this with the dvd player built in to the roof monitor b/c I assumed (incorrectly) that'd I'd be able to control the unit with the remote from the driver or passenger front seat. Luckily, the monitor swivels around enough to see it from either front seat, so its still workable. Also, my 6 y/o is better at using the remote then I am, so he can run it himself from the back seat.

The unit has built in speakers, but don't plan on really using them on the road they're not loud enough. It also has RCA audio output (and video too) that I connected to the factory radio but I got a lot of hum and engine noise. I didn't have much luck with the FM transmitter a lot of static. Plan on buying IR headphones. When its dark, the infrared bulbs glow red and are visible in the unit's passenger side light compartment.

The unit has a clock display, kind of a nice feature, but it apparently is only a 24 hour/military clock. Not a deal breaker, but my 6 year old is completely baffled by military time.

The memory doesn't seem to work. That is, if you turn the unit off the dvd starts from the beginning next time you turn it on. I'm quite sure I wired it correctly, there is a lead to the battery (for lights, clock and supposedly memory) as well as to switched power (for dvd/monitor power) and the manual indicates that there is a "memory stop" and "memory play" but I can't get that to work.

UPDATE: There is a setup menu setting to turn "Last Memory" on. The default is "off". And even turning it on, it seems to have a mind of its own sometimes working, other times not.

Having said all that, my kids love it, the unit was pretty inexpensive, service was pretty good, the swivel monitor is a nice feature, the picture quality is good, and the wide screen is plenty big enough. When the monitor is down, it blocks about 1/3 of my rear view in the mirror. When its up, I can't even see it in the mirror.

I bought the PLRD-92 and I have to say, that it DOES have a built in IR Transmitter. I bought a set of wireless headphones and they work GREAT. the sound quality is excellent, even to the Radio thru the built in FM Transmitter. I contacted PYLE prior to making this purchase and they told me that the unit DOES come with built in IR Transmitter. I don't understand why people here on Amazon reviews are saying otherwise. You do have to keep in mind that wireless headphones ONLY work when they are in-front of the unit, not behind it. it is a safety feature to keep people from using the wireless heaphones while driving. The side with the LED lights on this unit should be facing back, because it is on that side of the unit that the IR sensors are located. The signal to the headphones is automatically disconnected when the headphones go past the point where the IR sensor is located. again, ITS A SAFETY FEATURE. I am very happy with my PLRD-92 and HIGHLY reccomend it to anyone in search of an affordable Pulldown DVD player for their vehicle.

Want PYLE PLRD92 9-Inch Flip Down Monitor and DVD Player with Wireless FM Modulator/ IR Transmitter Discount?

I've had pretty good luck with Pyle players. This unit has worked really well for me. A great product for the price and can be installed with nothing other that power run to the player. I didn't have any problem mounting it to the roof in my mini van (one reviewer mentioned that screws were too short. While it might be a bit easier with longer screws, depending on the design of your car's roof, longer screws might be a problem). I tried the IR audio transmitter once and it seemed to work okay. I almost exclusively use the FM transmitter and route the sound through the car stereo. I have almost had no problems (signal strength has been fine, but a couple of times the FM transmitter mysteriously stopped working. A power off and back on of the unit fixed it both times though).

My favorite feature is the ability to read data video files off of CD, DVD, SD card, or USB memory. That means I can load up a DVD-R with 4 or 5 divX movies or pop in a memory card and be good to go. that gives my kids a lot more to watch on a lot fewer DVDs. The only downside to that is (at least with divX files) the auto resume feature doesn't work.

The only negative that I have is that I have lost the remote and not all of the playback features are available on the player itself. There are arrow keys that let me navigate DVD menus and scroll through media files, and I can play, stop and pause, but I have now fast forward/back or skipping options.

I have been using it for over a year and overall I have been very happy and have recommended the unit to others. Especially when compared to the factory DVD option in vehicles, which is usually several thousands of dollars and a smaller screen, this unit is a steal.

I purchased this DVD player after reading reviews and wasn't too sure about it. As most of the comments stated, the FM Transmitter is horrible!! You have to turn your radio up almost all the way to hear anything out of it. And even then, the static in the sound is just horrible! I have 2 older IR headphones that my kids use, but even then, they have a noticeable hum! Other than the sound, the lights on the unit turn on by themselves!! I came out to my Suburban in the morning and found the lights ON... when I open the door, they turn off... quite annoying! Thinking about returning it for a different brand/model. Other than that, installation was a breeze and the video quality is great!!

--------UPDATE 9/23/2012--------

I have contacted Amazon for a replacement on this DVD player! The unit quit working ENTIRELY!!! The only thing that still works, is the ONE annoying blue light that dims, then brightens at night while your driving!! When I receive my new player, I won't be connecting the lights! They never worked correctly from the beginning. I contacted Pyle's Customer Service about the issue, and they told me how to wire the lights... DUH! I already had the lights connected, YOUR people somehow messed that up!!

A replacement is on it's way, and hopefully this one will be better! Unfortunately, I have to buy a direct connect box for my '02 Suburban to get any kind of decent sound without turning my radio to the max!!

--------UPDATE 12/9/2012--------

A replacement arrived a while ago for this DVD player! Just now getting to updating my review! The new player works GREAT!! I would definitely take it over the $700 one that was installed into my Mini-Van when I purchased it!! The one thing that I recommend... do NOT hook up the lights that are in the player!!!!!! The lights are what initially caused the static disturbance in the radio! The FM Transmitter built in works fine, just don't hook up the lights!!!

Sunbright 6-FM-7.0 Sealed Lead-acid Battery 12 Volt / 7 Ah

Sunbright 6-FM-7.0 Sealed Lead-acid Battery 12 Volt / 7 AhI bought this battery taking a chance that the terminals would fit my FIOS. It works well; just take the old battery out, slide the protective covers of the terminals, and connect it to the FIOS receiver. I no longer get the low batter alarm, so I assume it is charging correctly and holding the charge, though I'll never know for sure unless there's a power outage. And CONSIDERABLY less expensive than buying the replacement from Verizon.

I have a Razor brand scooter that uses two of these for its 24V motor. The original battery lost its depth of charge and could only go about a half mile before it was depleted. With these, I get about 8 miles range on it. Fit and function compatible; this is a common de-facto standard battery size. Connections are 0.187" tabs of the same type found in automotive wiring. It arrived nearly fully-charged. It does not, however, appear to be a deep-discharge type, which to me is fine for a scooter which is mostly a toy, but for heavy-duty applications a more expensive deep-discharge type may be more suitable.

According to its data sheet (google Rhino SLA7-12 to find it), under heavy drain its capacity falls to 3.5 Ah, but those tabs are too small for high current anyhow. My scooter is probably about as high as one should go; the scooter's original battery connectors were soldered on, which probably helped the current rating a bit.

Buy Sunbright 6-FM-7.0 Sealed Lead-acid Battery 12 Volt / 7 Ah Now

The battery was used in a 150CC scooter replacing a standard issued lead acid battery. The battery replaced was almost three years old and required constant maintenance with battery terminal corrosion problems. This sealed unit at half the price is sealed where no acid showing up at the battery terminals and cranking amps to start my scooter. I would buy another unit in the future.............

  • Magellan RoadMate 1200 3.5-Inch Portable GPS Navigator
  • Pre-loaded with maps of the 48 contiguous United States, Hawaii, and Puerto Rico

  • Rechargeable battery lets you Navigate for up to 3 hours when power is unavailable.
  • 1.3 million pre-programmed POIs make it easy to find gas stations, restaurants, ATMs, coffee and more.

Don't get me wrong I know this is a very feature limited unit and I am one of those people who can find their way around just about anywhere without a paper map. I have a built in compass and can get the feel and layout of a metro area in less than a day, so I was pretty skeptical about the utility of these devices. boy was I wrong. Without a doubt its pretty useless, for instance, on I-95 going from New York to Miami its pretty hard to get lost on one thousand miles of straightaway, but the great thing about this is when you have to go off path. Everyone would prefer to skip the roadside gas stations and pull off into Florence a couple miles to find gas at local retail as opposed to full pit-stop price, or how about a better meal than McDonald's, maybe your wife would prefer to stay at a seaside hotel in Savannah instead of the Motel-6 along the interchange? You don't have to worry about getting lost or detoured by unfamiliar terrain anymore. No more missed turns, looping round-abouts, one way dead ends. Sure, you still have to use your common sense with the gadget, but the only time I missed my destination was when I failed to make the turn it recommended because it didn't look right. This small, low feature unit is all you need and by the way the screen has tremendous zoom in out ability. If you have a trip coming up BUY ONE TODAY!

The unit is light and the screen s ery easy to read. I love it!

Really frustrating that Magellan makes it so hard to open case. No screws, case sealed. Can't access battery, which would be like $12.00 on ebay to replace. Otherwise when working the unit was often irritatingly slow and incorrect.

Update: you can open, rubber plugs cover up screws. Problem was USB port broke on the inside. Will up my rating a bit. And buy a solderer.

I have been using the Magellan RoadMate 1200 for over a year. I find it to be the equal of the NeverLost GPS supplied in Hertz Car Rentals. In more than 5 years of using that system, I have never been lost in many locations in the USA. I liked the 1200 so much, I bought one as a gift for my daughter. She loves it too.

I received this product as a wedding gift. It is portable, takes a while to update maps and stopped charging after a year. Not what I was expecting after a year of use. When I called the help desk, I was told since I didn't have a receipt and it was over a year (2 weeks over a year), I would have to buy a new product. They offered a preferred "loyalty" program, which for the same price as a new device you can get a refurbished model, some "loyalty" program. I don't use it everyday, just when needed, so it could have broke before a year, and I just didn't know. Spend the extra money and get a better unit.

Advanced Car Mount System for Blackberry - FM Transmitter & Charger - Hands-Free Calling - Car Ster

Advanced Car Mount System for Blackberry - FM Transmitter & Charger - Hands-Free Calling - Car Stereo MP3 Playback - for BOLD 9000 / 9700 - Curve 8520 GEMINI - World Edition 8800 / 8820 / 8830
  • INDUSTRY LEADING 3 YEAR WARRANTY
  • Superior Mount design combines 3 most important features in just one unit : holds, charges & plays BLACKBERRY!
  • BlackBerry specific feature: Hands-free calling , Music Automatically Fades out when Call Comes in and Resumes
  • Transmitter features LCD screen and best quality sound in today's FM transmitter technology
  • Simple to use: plug into cigaretter lighter adapter -charge and play. Includes usb port

It's very easy to use and install but the sound quality is horrible. Always hear static no matter which station I tune to. When I receive a call I can hardly hear it even on max volume in the car. They can hear me well, but I can hardly hear them. For the cost I suppose you pay for what you get, but I would rather have skipped this purchase and paid more for quality. Even when the volume on my radio and phone is on max the music is not as loud as it should be. Just overall a bad quality of sound playback on this item.

I was so excited to buy this item, but the signal interfered with the radio in my car. It made an awful sound whenever I attempted to use it and on which ever station I chose, I looked online and found that this had happened with other Vue owners as well. In the end I still gave the product 3 stars though because I gifted it to a friend with a Celica and he LOVES it.

It works and its a very simple set up.

Fast delivery and very eager to please customer service!

However, in my little car it tended to obsessionally tip over on one side.

Also, The static you hear when you are listening to your mp3 songs can get annoying but it's somewhat difficult to change the station because the placement of the station display is at the top of the thing and you can't see it without taking your eyes off the road longer than I, at least, am comfortable with.

The hands free talking feature is very cool and works well but listening to music is not a great experience. It just depends what you value most. I do use it enough to not have sent it back but I don't use it as much as I thought I would.

Ok, hopefully I have done something wrong in installing this unit, because no one else talks about the fact that the unit is top heavy with the Blackberry in it. If I turn a corner, the unit itself turns around. I am very disappointed at the asethetics of this unit. Any suggestions? I haven't bothered with the FM transmission thing. Sounds like a good idea, but the thing is a hinderence when it is flopping around like a fish. It is difficult to keep the unit upright, and the flexible tube is awkward to bend. At this point, I would rather have a unit that securely holds the Blackberry. I don't care if it charges it or has the call through the radio. Have emailed the manufacturer, but have heard nothing. Going to look into returning this. Too aggervating fo me!

This product works great with my Verizon Moto Droid. I'm able to listen to music, podcasts, and Google Navigation through my car audio system. Since there is nothing currently specifically marketed for the Droid, I figured this would work since it has the connections I need. I tested the hands-free feature and that works so well that the people on the other end did not know they were on speakerphone. The audio quality is as good as one could expect from a radio transmitter. I'm not sure about the durability of the spine in the long run, but for now, it's up to the task of holding up my (relatively heavy) Droid. Since this is a universal product, the placing of the ports isn't ideal for my particular phone. The audio cord comes from the bottom up to connect to the top of my phone, and the USB input is on the wrong side. This presents a bit of a cable management challenge. However, I knew this going in, so it was not a surprise.

I was a little worried that the USB charger would not work since I've had products fail to charge via USB before, but this is able to seamlessly charge my Droid via the provided Micro-USB.

Overall, though not overly elegant, this is a fine product to suit my needs.

This product has paid for its self many times over.

I have never had a problem with Shumacher products I have had an old battery charger made from Schumacher and never had a problem with it and it was given to me by my grand-father. I think the quality is the same if not better.

Buy Schumacher PSI-1500 DSR ProSeries 1500 Watt Analog Power Inverter Now

It saved a freezer and fridge full of food plus provided phone, internet and fans during a widespread three day power outage with 90-100F heat.

We have three 12v DC generators in the driveway.... Four if you include the garden tractor. All you need to do is convert the DC to 110v.

No moving parts, no storage issues, no noise, no yearly service.

Is it the best unit out there? No idea.... but I will never be without one.

Instapark PowerBox Mars100 Fold-n-Go Portable 100-Watt Solar-powered 12V Battery Charger with Built

Instapark PowerBox Mars100 Fold-n-Go Portable 100-Watt Solar-powered 12V Battery Charger with Built-in Charge Controller & Cooling FanPositive:

After searching the web with shopping bots, I ordered from Amazon for price and even more important to me, since this was my first solar panel, for their return policy.

I have been well pleased with the Mars100 solar panel set. I considered fixed-mounted panels but in my case, these would only have had exposure to the morning or the afternoon sun not both. With the Instapark kit, it is very easy too turn it a couple of times during the day to orient it towards the sun for increased output throughout the entire day. I have charged batteries even when the sky is overcast.

Set up is very easy just open it up and plug it in. Take down and storage is also easy just unplug the cord and fold it together. This is ideal for me since I only occasionally use it not 100% of the time.

It comes with an Anderson to alligator clips adapter and an Anderson to cigarette lighter male plug adapter. If you want to make additional adapters, the Anderson SB50 output connectors are not expensive and readily available from many sources on the web.

Negative:

This is minor but I have been unable to see the led battery charge and battery status indicators in any sunlight even if I try to cover them from the direct sunlight. When I want to check the status, I use an external volt meter or ammeter.

After two days testing in maybe a 2/3 sunny day, both days I am very impressed! I got this panel thinking it probably won't work, but can be returned. The purpose is to be able to solar charge my Stanley Power Stations and Automotive Jump Starters, which I use for light (13 watt CF bulb throws off = 60 watts light, can last up to two nights in a power out) USB ports, powering a wireless modem, using a DVD player and charging phones, ipods, laptops and such in a power outage. We were out 10 days during Sandy in NJ, and luckily I had a place to bring the Stanleys that had power and could rotate them. Problem was, I ate up lots of gas running back and forth and there was a big problem getting gas. Would be better to charge them up right at home.

Day one, I took a small 300 Amp Stanley and drained it halfway down. It charged to full capacity in about 1 1/2 hours. I was stunned. Can't be right. So I drained to about 50% one of the larger 450 Stanley Power Stations, and put it out today on a mostly sunny but sometimes cloudy day. In two hours that one was DONE! I can't believe how quickly these charge them, they are really great panels.

The construction... if there were a way to take a half star off the rating I would have. The casing is plastic. I'd have gladly paid a bit more for metal. I am very worried it may crack so I baby it. You have to move these around to track the sun, easy enough, but be careful. Other than that the design is brilliant, it is truly plug n' play. It folds up and stores easily. You could take this anywhere, on a camping trip it would be wonderful for example, but save the box for transport...again, I worry about the plastic housing. Sturdy enough, if you don't smack it or drop it though.

The so called manual... well, tells you next to nothing, but do not worry, if you have questions, tech support answers immediately and they are very knowledgeable and polite.

I learned that this is specifically intended to charge batteries today while speaking to tech support. In other words, you can't connect a light or appliance to it directly. You need to charge a battery (12v deep cycle lead acid) and then get an inverter for the battery and run off that. That's fine as long as you realize this, but I wondered why when I put a 12V inverter onto it nothing happened. The manual said nothing about that.

Tech support also said you can charge a whole battery bank if you want with this, but nothing in the manual. If you did that you could have more power for larger things by maybe connecting them to an electrical panel (like one for a generator). Perhaps run the well pump or a small fridge etc. Seems there is a lot you can do with these that is never mentioned in the booklet at all.

Overall, it's amazing. No complaints except the worry about the housing. It is not flimsy, but plastic is plastic! Be careful. Worth the money though. Very happy with it.

I've only owned this product for one week, but I can say that it is nicely designed, it includes essential connectors, and it's easy to use. I like the way it folds flat and stores neatly out of the way on a wall hook in my garage. I was thinking of putting together a charging system out of component parts, but this unit looked so convenient, portable, and easy to store, that I went for it.

So far I've only charged up one battery. It was a deeply discharged 35 Amp-Hour AGM battery, and it took about one full day of bright sun (Phoenix, AZ) to bring it all the way back to full charge. The indicator lights on the panel clearly showed the charging progress from empty to full. Very nice. Unlike some other reviewers, I had no trouble seeing the indicator lights in bright sun. I just had to look at them "head-on" -they are recessed a bit into the case, so they don't show up at an angle -no big deal.

Out of curiosity, with external meters, I observed battery voltage and charging current during the charge-up. Voltage started at about 11.5 volts and ended at 12.5 volts. Initial charging current started at about 2 amps and climbed in a matter of a minute or two to over 3.5 amps. Charge current gradually declined to a low of about 1 amp at the end of the cycle. That's about 40 watts peak power going into the battery. The unit is rated at "100 watts" but I presume that's the maximum "raw power" the bare panels could produce on their own -the embedded charging electronics are there to protect the battery and the charging unit, and they seemed to be doing their job. The unit does have overheat protection circuitry, which did not "trip" during the charge cycle.

The instructions are adequate, and the unit is so simple to use that not much instruction is needed. If you buy one, be careful that the rack supports in the back don't slip when you set it up or move it around. If the unit crashes on the ground, the silicon panels could break. The unit includes some straps which can keep the supports from slipping out toward the back of the unit, but they could still slip inward if you move the panel to get better sun exposure and don't watch what you're doing. I used a couple bricks to make sure the support was stable.

All in all, this looks like a very good product. I'm happy(!).

First of all, I am generally easy to please and in fact have written several reviews for Amazon on different products always awarding either four or five stars. With that said, this product is without a doubt the single most disappointing product I have every purchased.

To start the user manual is written in very poor broken English. There are at least 50 spelling/grammar mistakes in the small 10 page manual. This may seem petty and if this was the only problem I would have gladly accepted the product, however, it is telling of a company's quality control to manufacture in China and sell in The States without having reviewed translated material. What else was not reviewed? In this case, clearly the product itself. An intern could have reviewed this document in less than 15 minutes and corrected all of these mistakes.

Next, I have to say that the physical packaging is quite good and the design is clever, however, the solar panels were lightly scratched over the entire array. It was difficult to find a one-inch square that was unscratched. During my call with Instapark customer service, I asked if these were 2nd hand panels, but the CS person confirmed that they were Grade-A panels.

Most importantly, using a multimeter, the output was only 1.7V vs. the spec of 12v and the current was only 3.2A vs the spec of about 9A. I was so surprised at this result that I connected my multimeter to my car battery just to make sure that my multimeter wasn't faulty. During my call with customer service they explained that this was normal and that I should measure the voltage after I connect it to the battery. I told him this was nonsense because as that point it would be a measurement of the battery voltage and not that of the solar panel. He continued to push this line, until I told him that I was an Electrical Engineer and that his comments were simply false. Afterwards, he confided that the manual was wrong and that other customers had made similar complaints. I was shocked at this admission, thank him for his eventual honesty, hung up the phone and returned the product that day.

Given what I know about this product, I am shocked at the positive reviews. Either I got a lemon or the reviewers don't know how to measure the performance.

I hope this review helps you to avoid the mistake that I made. All the best,

After losing power during Hurricane Sandy, I found out the hard way just how limited my 7Ah hobby batteries and trickle charging solar panels were. I took a leap of faith with the PowerBox Mars 100 and was impressed. All the cables and straps store inside the compartments on the side although some careful placement is needed to ensure the door closes flush. At 45 degree angle from the rising sun, the multimeter still read 14.1 to 14.3 V. It dropped to 11-12 V during periods of light cloud cover. On an overcast day, the voltage was less than 1V. In full sunlight, the Instapark charged up my 12V 7Ah hobby battery in about 3 hours. The LED readout is five dots that shows charge level is barely visible in bright sunlight. I had to get on my knees and cup over the LED panel with my hands in order to see how many dots were blinking. The unfolded panels stand up using a wire frame that fold out and whose angle is adjusted by two nylon straps that hook onto the bottom edge of the panel. Not as fancy as a tripod but adequate considering the straps store with the panel as mentioned before. The kit comes with an extension cable, a male 12V "cigarette lighter" plug and a jumper cable attachment. My plan if the power goes out again is to use the Instapark to recharge my Powerdome and backup batteries. It took about 12 hours to fully charge my larger 12V 26Ah battery (6 hours of good sunlight for two days, as I am limited by the angle of my house relative to the sunrise.)
