Oriongadgets Sync & Charge Cradle Docking Station w/ 2nd Battery Charger for Motorola Atrix 4G (Bla

Oriongadgets Sync & Charge Cradle Docking Station w/ 2nd Battery Charger for Motorola Atrix 4GThis product is exactly what it says it is. My problem is the Atrix cannot be inserted into the cradle if you have ANY case on the phone. I did keep the product even though I do not use it because I should have known it would not fit. Nothing wrong with the working ability of the unit other than the need to remove any case before you doc the Atrix.

Royal Power PIC3000-12 Power Inverter 3000 Watt 12 Volt DC To 110 Volt AC with 20amp Charger and Au

Royal Power PIC3000-12 Power Inverter 3000 Watt 12 Volt DC To 110 Volt AC with 20amp Charger and Auto Transfer Switch
  • 3000 watts continuous power
  • 6000 watts peak power
  • 20AMP Built-in Battery Charger & 20AMP Automatic Transfer Switch
  • Anodized aluminum case provides durability
  • Heavy Duty

Ordered the PIC3000 on a Monday, received on Tuesday. This product has great features for the price. The little battery in my remote control is corroded. The user manual is unintelligible, "Be sure to right the screws in order to avoid connection loosened." The product description on Amazon mentions a transfer switch, but the manual and box do not mention a transfer switch. (There IS a transfer switch, but the manual is a generic inverter manual with a charger insert, and it doesn't match the PIC3000.)

I initially had trouble because the unit REQUIRES a battery in order to work. (Not sure why, it can be plugged into AC and it has a transfer switch.) If you plug the PIC3000 into the wall without a battery, the LEDs and display will not turn on at all. I wanted to test the PIC3000 before spending $200 on a deep cycle battery, so I was able to test with my car battery and an electric light bulb and clamped jumper cables. This test does not yield 3000 watts (the supplied cables should be used), but the charger LED lit up, and the light bulb worked off AC power when the PIC3000 was plugged in. When I pulled the plug on the PIC3000 (simulated power failure), the light bulb went out for a couple seconds, then turned back on from the car battery. [TESTING UPDATE, I bought a 90aH "Interstate" battery and plugged in my 5.2 amp sump pump. The sump pump ran every 15 minutes for a few seconds, showing 570 watts on the display, did not see a higher startup surge. The battery was at 12.8 volts after 6 hours, in line with expectations, should survive for for a few days at that rate with no other appliances attached.]

Tech support is very difficult with this seller. No phone number is provided with the manual or packing list. I got a phone number and email address from royalpower.com. I left phone messages that were not answered and my emails got no response. Since I believed the unit was dead, I initiated a return. This attracted attention. After asking me again for my phone number, I finally spoke with a support person about 24 hours later. He explained the setup and it works.

The unit fried itself in less than a week without even being under load. The company was quick with return instructions, but since I retuned it they don't respond to messages and calls and I have absolutely no idea when or if I will receive the replacement I have been wating for for several weeks now. Don't ever buy anything from this company.

The unit was easy to hook up and I had my battery bank topped up in about 10 minutes. I tested the output and it works. The remote is handy since you can turn it on and off from another room to conserve battery power. This unit has the ability to run a refrigerator and a few small window air conditioners. I use this during storms to run my refrigerator and I have the ability to run a window unit at night and give my generator a rest.

Want Royal Power PIC3000-12 Power Inverter 3000 Watt 12 Volt DC To 110 Volt AC with 20amp Charger and Au Discount?

Worked great for 5 months, used it to run my ac 420 watts and my microwave 900 watts in my van...Still works on battery power...

Charger works on shore power but it will no longer run my ac on shore power.! star (5 stars when it worked)

It stared working again when the batteries got charged.I think the 20amp charger was using to much power for the ac to work..I had to take my solar panels off to paint the truck, first time the batteries got that low..

Fast shipping, works as described. Need more detail instruction, manuals and specifications, but overall works great. Also missing switching time between battery and AC. Looks like ~ 1-2 sec.

Thanks

BW Hard Shield Shell Cover Snap On Case for Verizon Samsung Brightside U380 + Car + Home Charger-Bl

BW Hard Shield Shell Cover Snap On Case for Verizon Samsung Brightside U380 + Car + Home Charger-BlackI liked how thw case snapped on easily. It fits well and has a good feel.

The car charger works OK and charges at the same rate as the wall plug.

The wall plug has a nice long cord.

As far as I know the chargers are fine, and the case was thought very highly of. Until today, my son let me know that case (which he's had for two days) broke when he slid his phone open. I'm bummed.

For less than five bucks I got this bundle with two chargers and cover for my brightside. Feels nice to the touch although the slider function seems a bit hindered from this. But it's nice to have the extra protection and the car charger. I wish all little devices used the micro usb plug companies like Apple with their new "unique" charger only serve to make us pay more to them and trash all the old charger cables. What an un-pc and eco-unfriendly move Apple! The chargers here fit my other phones, my kindle and I love this about it.

I got this case to protect my Samsung Brightside, it does its job we'll. I have dropped my phone a few times and there isn't a scratch on it, just on the case. The only problems I had were getting it on all the way. But the good news is that once it is on it is going to stay on for a while. The chargers were a big bonus to the purchase. Overall I recommend this product to anyone looking for a hardcase to their Samsung Brightside.

6 Channels 10440/14500/14650/16340/17670/18650/18700 XTAR WP6II Battery Charger(No adaptor)I recieved my charger today which was listed with no adaptors and to my suprise it came with the home and car adaptor. Must be a misprint. I'm glad I waited to go buy an adaptor for my home. So far the charger topped off my 2 batteries that I had sitting around for a couple of weeks and is still charging the 4 new ones that I got with the charger. I have literally had this charger for about an hour now as of this review and expect the new batteries to charge for a couple of hours yet. I have a Fenix tk75 flashlight that uses 8 18650 batteries and I was using the Xtar 2 channel charger to charge all 8 of my batteries and it was taking to long so I bought the 6 channel battery charger so I could charge them all at the same time. So far no complaints.

TECMATE OPTIMATE 3+ BATTERY CHARGER / DESULFATING MAINTAINER 12VOLT - NEW

TECMATE OPTIMATE 3+ BATTERY CHARGER / DESULFATING MAINTAINER 12VOLT - NEWI originally purchased the Optimate 3+ for my motorcycle after losing a battery over the harsh Alaskan winter. I ended up using the Optimate 3+ on a truck battery that had sat for 5 years, and drained itself down to 0V. After putting a battery charger on it for about 10 minutes to get an initial charge (the Optimate 3+ will only work if the voltage is above 2-3 volts), I put the Optimate 3+ to work on the battery.

Over the course of a week, it desulfated and reconditioned my truck battery and now the battery works great!

I highly recommend this charger!

I like this product. Works well and is easy to use. It saved my motorcycle from the winter battery issue.

Buy TECMATE OPTIMATE 3+ BATTERY CHARGER / DESULFATING MAINTAINER 12VOLT - NEW Now

Purchased these(4 units) for my 2 scooters, 1 Honda Shadow 750 and 1 Burgman 400. The weather here is southeast Colorado is such that when the roads are clear you can bike it so I do not pack them away for the winter. I keep the batteries on charge when the temp gets into the sub 40's and these units work beyond my expectations.

Since they also will completely discharge the batteries and recharge them I do not worry about them going bad. Really happy with purchase.

Took about an hour to wire the batteries up and put the charging ends in easy access locations. They are kept in my carport and I run an extension cord to a multi-plug adapter and can plug all 4 bikes in at the same time.

I have been using this for about a month and a half and am very happy with it. I have not experienced any problems with interference at all. The only thing I did discover which is not pointed out in the instructions is, if you connect the wide connector for charging the player will not play. Only connect the ear phone out jack.

Clarion VX409 6.5-Inch Double-DIN Multimedia Station with Touch-Panel Control Station

Clarion VX409 6.5-Inch Double-DIN Multimedia Station with Touch-Panel Control Station
  • AM/FM radio, DVD, DVD-R/RW, DVD+R/RW, CD, CD-R/RW, MP3/WMA receiver
  • 4 x 40 Watts maximum power with six channels of preamp output
  • 6.5-inch QVGA color TFT LCD with 480 x 234 resolution
  • Includes AV input/output; easily add iPod direct control, Bluetooth, SAT radio, navigation system
  • One year warranty

I installed this unit in my 2009 Subaru WRX. I removed it and returned it after 3 days.

The good:

-It has a good amount of power. I ran this to my stock speakers and they sounded much, much better than they did with the factory receiver.

-Good build quality. The physical unit feels well made. Mechanical flip face works smoothly, buttons and volume dial feel solid.

-It's cheap.

The bad:

-iPod integration is terrible. There is no way to easily scroll through artists/albums etc. You have to click an arrow to flip through each individual entry. This is OK if you have a couple albums on a nano, but not OK if you plan to connect an iPod with a large library. Finding an artist beginning with 'N' took close to 100 clicks with my full 120GB iPod classic. And if you want to go from Nelly to Nirvana, you have to start all over from 'A' again.

-Poor screen resolution. Font edges are jagged.

-No dimmer. It has a dimmer connection wire, but it did not work on my unit. The screen was at full brightness at all times, and the manual dimmer control did not work either. At night it was like having a spotlight in my dash.

-Restarts between sources. Every time you change sources, the entire unit restarts. Screen shuts off then on and everything. It doesn't take too long, 3-4 seconds maybe, but it is rather odd and obnoxious. I took the whole thing out to check for a loose connection when it first happened. Called Clarion about it and they said it is normal operation.

-Navigation. The specs list this unit as being compatible with an optional navigation unit. However, the only input for the navigation unit is a component video connection. So if you were to connect navigation, the VX409 would only serve as a monitor, and you would not have touch screen control of anything.

Overall, the actual physical unit could be quite nice. However the software feels like going back to using Windows 95.

Buy Clarion VX409 6.5-Inch Double-DIN Multimedia Station with Touch-Panel Control Station Now

The VX409 is a great unit, but for the price, you'd think you would get a lot more.

The Positives:

-The unit makes your factory speakers sound way better. I installed it in a 2000 Honda Accord and had no idea that my speakers could sound that good.

-The motorized fold down screen is awesome. It looks good and is very smooth when it flips down. I expected it to be jerky or sound labored (like other units I've seen) but it simply works and works well. The touch screen responds well to touch whether the weather outside is cold or hot. Also, when the screen is cold, it doesn't lag like I've seen in other units.

-The EQ controls are as easy or as complicated as you want them to be. It's a good unit for beginners or for higher-level installation.

The Negatives

-The software is awful. There is no room for any customization other than sound (which I guess is what really matters, but other things are nice). Another problem is that any time you change from one interface to another, the unit does a small reboot. So if I change from watching a DVD to listening to the radio, I push the mode button and wait for it to reboot into "A/V Input", then through "iPod" and then finally to radio. It takes a while to get to anything because of the constant rebooting.

-The settings menu seems to be its own program on this unit. That is a problem when you're listening to music and then you have to adjust the sound, so you exit the music (which stops playing at that point), boot up into the settings menu, change your settings, then enter back into your music and check the settings. The whole process should be integrated but it's not. Changing and checking one setting takes about 2 minutes due to rebooting.

-Due to legalities, this unit will not play DVDs while the vehicle is moving. They do this by requiring you to hook up a wire to your parking brake. I don't have a problem with this except that I bought this unit so I could send the video signal back to TV headrests for long trips with my kids. This can't be done without buying a small "cheat box" that gives your unit a false parking brake signal and making it work. This of course makes your unit operate in an illegal way and can get you a huge ticket in some states.

-For the love of God, don't set a security password on this thing. Brand new, out of the box, I put a security password on it. It was the same password I use on EVERYTHING so I know it wasn't user error. Long story short, the unit locked me out after three attempts, went into a 24-hour lock out mode, then gave me three more chances to get it right, then went into a permanent lock out mode. After 2 weeks of wresting with Clarion customer service, the whole unit had to be reset.

I love this unit now that I have worked all of the kinks out using aftermarket products and cheat boxes but I don't think I should have to do that after spending $600 on a product. There are tons of units out there from companies who have learned to integrate all programs to work together and also integrate your portable music. This particular Clarion unit has failed to do that. I recommend finding a unit that does.

I've owned this unit for a few years now and just wanted to say it's been great! It's not the flashiest around but gets the job done.

Want Clarion VX409 6.5-Inch Double-DIN Multimedia Station with Touch-Panel Control Station Discount?

For the price of this unit, there are far better choices that the vx409. Despite the fact that the unit has added features that you may purchase such a IPOD adapter, bluetooth adapter, and navigation. The controls for these options seems like an after-thought, meant to push more units out the door and make it sound feature rich. The add-ons offer little in terms of seemless user interface. The unit takes a good 3 seconds when switching between different sources, even more when it is trying to decide if the CD you put in is actually a dvd, cd, or mp3s. There are 4 EQ selections and the only changes you can make is the fader, bass, and trebble.

PROS

It looks nice and the buttons have a nice tactile feel

Smooth operation

Display is bright and crisp

CONS

LCD touch screen loses sensitivity even after calibration

Title text is limited to a few characters.

Delays when switching between sources

User interface is counter intuitive

Add-on modules are not tightly integrated

CD/DVD take forever to load

Lacks features for the price.

Very nice stereo, would be nicer if the instructions included were clearer and made more sense but they don't. I don't beleve I can use this stereo to it's fullest potential because of this fact. It has noce features but needs a usb port and sd card slot to be complete. Not very customisable. That is all it really lacks to be complete. Put it short this is just another stereo and nothing spectacular...... Easy installation for the mechanically inclined...

AGPtek 16-Channel 6km FRS/GMRS Two-Way Radio (Pair) Walkie Talkie with Emergency Alarm (4-pack)

AGPtek 16-Channel 6km FRS/GMRS Two-Way Radio Walkie Talkie with Emergency AlarmI bought these thinking that I could program them with a unique frequency, and maybe I can--if I spend more than the hour I already spent looking for the software and figuring it out on my own. That said, the radios work very very well. I especially like the belt clip option. Not too bulky and intuitive operation.

I LOVED THIS WALKIE TALK. ITS JUST LIKE A MOTOROLA ONE JUST CHEAPER.

HIGHLY RECOMMENDED BY ME 100% SATISFIED. THIS PRODUCT WAS TOTTALY WORTH THE MONEY I PAID FOR IT.

Had employees using cell phones and the monthly charges were getting to be a burden. These hopefully will last and the one time charge versus monthly charges for cell phones plus the monitoring of cell phones and misuse made these a good option. Will see how long the rechargeable batteries last.

Griffin Technology 4002-TJUICE TuneJuice Battery Backup for iPod and iPod mini

Griffin Technology 4002-TJUICE TuneJuice Battery Backup for iPod and iPod mini
  • An essential emergency power backup for your iPod
  • Use wherever you can't charge your iPod
  • Powered by standard 9-volt battery
  • Perfect carry-on for airplanes, road trips and ski trips
  • Compatibility: iPod nano (1G and 2G), iPod mini, 3G iPod, 4G iPod with click wheel, iPod Color, iPod Video

My main reason for purchasing this product was to add to my total puchases so i would get free shipping. However, i am extremely happy with this product. It will keep your ipod working for about as long as the ad claims it will (unlike apple's ipod battery claims. It's really small, about 1/2 a centimeter bigger on each side than a 9volt battery. It's so small that i just chuck it in my bag and forget about it until my ipod shuts off because i forgot to charge it, and then i praise the fact that it's there. I would recomend this to anyone who is away from a charger for extended periods of time, or if they forget to charge things, just like i do. Other rechargable batteries might last longer, but this is a cheap emergency solution. Because of these facts... I give this product...a 5-out-of-5.

Buy Griffin Technology 4002-TJUICE TuneJuice Battery Backup for iPod and iPod mini Now

I bought this item when my ipod mini decided to get a brain and shut off at random times claiming dead battery. Plugged the tune juice into the dock port, and voila! Music for hours and hours..The 9-volt battery is a little wierd, but if it works, it works. The size is great though, unlike another product *ahem* Belkin, it can fit pretty much where ever you store your ipod and take it out when you need it. I never leave home without it now.

Read Best Reviews of Griffin Technology 4002-TJUICE TuneJuice Battery Backup for iPod and iPod mini Here

The Griffin Tune Juice is an accessory for your iPod that extends the playing life of the iPod. It runs on a 9v battery and connects to the iPod via the docking port. The Juice Tune extends the playing time of your iPod for up to 4 hours, making it convenient for those long flights we often have to take or camping trips. I have also used the Belkin Backup Battery Pack for iPod w/ Dock Connector. The Belkin product uses 4 AA batteries and has suction cups that actually connect the pack to the iPod. It also has 4 LEDs that lets you know the battery power still remaining. It provides up to 15 hours of extra play time.

I find the Belkin product better for my circumstances for a number of reasons. Although there is an initial high cost ($59.99 vs. $19.99), in the long run getting 15 hours of 4 AA batteries vs 5 hours from 1 9V battery is more economical. I also like how the Belkin Battery Pack attaches to the iPod itself. It becomes one integrated unit instead of 2 components attached to each other by a cord. The battery life indicator on the Belkin is a very convenient benefit also.

If you are concerned about weight and only need a few extra hours the Griffin Tune Juice may be a better product, but for my uses the Belkin fits the bill.

Want Griffin Technology 4002-TJUICE TuneJuice Battery Backup for iPod and iPod mini Discount?

Having received this item as a gift, I decided to do a few tests with it and my ipod video 30gb. First I ran a movie, medium sound volume, on my ipod alone with it fully charged. It lasted 137 minutes (2 hours, 17 min.). Then I *fully* recharged the ipod and plugged it into the TuneJuice with a brand new 9v. On the same set of movies, it lasted 202 minutes (3 hours, 22 minutes). So you'd get about an hour of extra power. Not bad for the price.

However, there are some things to consider. This is a one shot deal: when the ipod battery runs out, you will not be able to use the TuneJuice to recharge it. The 9v is not powerful enough to run the ipod by itself, and so the ipod will be draining both the TuneJuice and its own battery simultaneously. The ipod battery will drain faster than the 9v and run out before it.

The next day, we tested the 9v we used and it was still good. So you will be able to use the same 9v more than once.

So bottom line: in order to get the full use of the TuneJuice, you have to plug it in when the ipod battery is fully charged. Once the ipod's battery runs out, which it will, the TuneJuice is useless no matter how many 9v batteries you have with you or how charged they are. You will have to recharge your ipod battery.

It's good, then, if you only need your ipod video to last that extra hour and no longer.

For anybody who has a video ipod (I have the 30g model), this is a must if you want to watch videos on your ipod and your travel time is likely to take more than 2 hours.

I also carry an extra 9v battery, just in case.

I've had absolutely no problems with this unit and use it constantly on planes.

Goal Zero 12301 Nomad 7M Solar Panel

Goal Zero 12301 Nomad 7M Solar PanelI have purchased, used and tested every lightweight solar charging device on the market that I could find. The Goal0 nomad 7 and Guide 10 set is the only one that works sufficiently that I can be completely off the grid with my backpacking devices and have no need for extra batteries. See below for solar panels tested. I have been testing portable solar panels for several years now, and the Goal 0 products are the best.

The Nomad 7 is the only solar panel that has the capability to charge an adequate battery pack, my headlamp AAA's, AND my smartphone/GPS all in the same day in full sunlight. It is the only panel that has reserve capacity to charge my devices in less than full sun (shady/cloudy). No other panel has the output of the Nomad 7. Its closest competitor is the Brunton panel. The Brunton weighs 20% more and is rated to output 30% less than the Nomad 7 (Brunton = 5 watts, Nomad 7 = 7 watts). In my testing the lower output was verified. The off-axis performance of the Nomad 7 is superior. It maintains full output to a greater angle of sun than any other panel I have tested. The Nomad 7 is the only panel, in my knowledge, that uses the more efficient mono-crystalline panels. It does seem to give it an edge in real-world usage. As far as flexibility, that characteristic has nothing to do with panel efficiency. Another of the well-thought out features of the Nomad 7 is the connection options. The Xpal SP-2000 and the Solio both rely on many different tips to connect to different devices. The Nomad 7 has three great options built in: 6.5 volt fast charge for the Guide 10 charger, 5 V USB connector, and a port that the included 12V female car lighter adapter plugs into. Every portable device has the option of an inexpensive car power adapter, and the Nomad 7 nicely offers that ability.

The Guide 10 charger works to its rated specifications, unlike most of the other solar devices I have used. It charges AA and AAA batteries. It charges them faster with the Nomad 7 than any other solar panel/charger combination that I have tested. The Goal 0 batteries that ship with the Guide 10 are the best of their type I have tested. They are low-discharge, like the Eneloops, but much better. The Eneloops are rated at 2000 mAh, but charge only to about 1900 mAh capacity. The Goal 0 are rated at 2000 mAh, but charge to 2200 mAh. The guide 10 has some very well thought out features, including the LED flashlight, the function switch and the built-in hanging loop. These touches all demonstrate that the designers are users, and thought well about how these devices would be used.

All is not perfect, though. The Guide 10 does have an overheating problem, but only in very strong sunlight and under certain conditions. This is a known issue that is being fixed as I write this. This brings me to one of my most important experiences; customer service. Goal 0 has the best customer service by far than any other of the solar panel manufacturers I have tested in this group. Immediate phone contact, responsiveness to questions and warranty service are far and away some of the best I have experienced.

Following is a list of the solar panels I have tested, and short comparison comments on each.

1. Powerfilm USB + AA: This one has a great form factor, is flexible and very durable, and is the lightest weight and most compact of all the solar chargers. Its fatal flaw is that it simply does not put out enough power to be practical in extended backpacking. It does not fully charge the AA batteries when it indicates a full charge, and is not nearly as flexible as the Nomad 7 for connection. The unit was replaced on warranty, but the replacement performed exactly the same. I tested a total of four of these, and all performed the same. Customer service was good, after spending weeks trying to get their attention, and this happened several times.

2. Solio Classic: This one has a nice form factor, but the unit simply does not charge its internal battery nor a connected device at all adequately. Just in case, I had it replaced on warranty and the replacement performed exactly the same.

3. Xpal Power SP-2000: Same as the Solio. Internal battery rated at 2000 mAh, only charges to about 1100-1300. Not enough power overall to be practical. Very good customer service.

4. Brunton Explorer: A good panel, but not enough overall power. Weighs 20% more than the Nomad 7, output is 30% less.

Since there isn't a lot of detailed info out there about this product, I'll give the obligatory novel-length review.

I actually purchased this on sale for $60 elsewhere, which was quite the steal (it's gone up in price since). I received it yesterday evening, so have had it less than 24 hours and just tried it today about an hour ago on my lunch break. Got it primarily for use with my iPhone 3Gs when camping and hiking this summer. Frankly, I didn't think it would work out of the box for my iPhone because Goal Zero states on their website that the Nomad 7m may or may not work directly with the iPhone and it's best to just buy a battery pack and charge from there. Their documentation also states you should let the panels warm up in the sun a bit before trying to charge anything.

I decided to try worst case scenario and plugged my iPhone in directly right away and stuck the Nomad in my car's front window on a very cloudy, rainy day in Seattle. Nothing happened. No charging, no messages from the phone. Let it sit with my iPhone plugged in for about 15-20 minutes and still nothing, so I unplugged the phone and let the panels continue to warm up in the car window. About 10-15 minutes later, the lower, darker clouds blew away and it was still quite cloudy but noticeably brighter, so I plugged the phone back in and got an error message that the phone didn't support charging from this device (which made me happy because at least SOMETHING was happening). I tried a few more times, got the same message, then decided to let it stay plugged in while I drove back to work. And, LO! About a minute later, I heard that blessed "buzz buzz" the iPhone gives off when it's been plugged into a charger.

My drive back to work was only about 5-6 minutes long and I'd say the charger was only directed toward the sun (still quite overcast) about 2-3 minutes, but the battery went up 1%, so I'm calling that a win. Every time the panels go out of the direct sun, it's the equivalent of unplugging your wall or USB charger, so I'm thinking that investing in the Guide 10 battery pack to harness power is a good idea if you can stand the extra weight. The battery pack itself is the size of an iPhone and the Nomad 7m is just a bit smaller than an iPad and a little over a 1 lb. in weight, so a backpacker might have a hard time justifying carrying around all of this gear.

One commenter asked if the cells were bendable and the answer is no. There's a slight amount of give so that it's not what I would call fragile, but the panels are, presumably, breakable. The case it comes in is sturdy, so I would think you'd have to be pretty rough with it to break anything. Like other reviewers have noted, the case it comes in is well made and there's lots of little hooks to attach it to whatever. Plus, it comes with a small, light caribiner which is handy.

I obviously haven't had this long enough or tried this in enough conditions to give an accurate star rating, but I'm giving it a tentative 4 because I'm pleasantly surprised that it worked directly with my iPhone in such crappy weather conditions, but wondering if the "warm up" time is a first time issue or a consistent issue. Having to wait almost an hour before it starts charging would be kind of a bummer. I may update my review after I know more. Going to try this with an iPhone 4 as well and will include an update if the experience with that is any different.

UPDATE:

Originally gave this 4 stars, just bumped to 5. Finally got a relatively sunny day yesterday and it charged my older generation iPod in 1 hour. Successfully charged an iPhone 3Gs AND an iPhone 4. Note: You have to take the bumper off, or the connection isn't good enough for the iPhone 4 to even recognize the device. It still took warm up time (about 20-30 minutes), but that was with cloud cover coming in and out on a cool day in Seattle. It's incredibly efficient when the sun is beating right down on it. Love this thing. Going to order the Guide 10 battery pack next.

I've been using this SOLAR panel for a few years without any problems. There seems to be alot of mixed reviews for the SOLAR panel and I'm not sure why. To clear up a little confusion for the SOLAR charger I've listed the most common complaints and explained them below. As you can see, SOLAR panel will be in caps for the duration of the review for reason...

#1 It is a SOLAR panel. Many customers are upset that charging stops when the sun goes away. It is NOT a SOLAR/Cloud charger. While it's possible for the sun to penetrate thinner clouds and continue charging, it's quite possible the speed of such charging will decrease.

#2 Some are upset at the output. It is a small, compact unit designed to take hiking/camping or other places where space is of concern. It is not designed to charge a 12 volt battery. You cannot jump start your car with it. Use common sense when attempting to charge larger items. Which brings us too...

#3 It WILL charge a battery assuming your device is not currently using more power than it can provide. Again, this seems like common sense, however, some underestimate the power draining features of modern phones/tablets such as backlights, screensavers, GPS, WIFI, Bluetooth and networks. Turn your phone off if possible or dissable some or most of those options.

#4 Many people use this on the dashboard of their car. While it is a portable unit, there is a faster and more efficient method. Most vehicles, even old ones have at least 1 12 volt cigarrette lighter output. You can purchase a USB adapter for about $5 to charge your phone, ipad, etc.

#5 It is not durable. I have dropped this off a mountain side, into water and left it in zero degree weather for some time. It shouldn't work....It still does.

Please excuse the sarcastic tone of this review but I believe this product and company deserves some respect and praise for designing such a wonderful SOLAR panel. Thank you!

I bought a Nomad 7 last year. Love it. It makes great power in all conditions.

I liked it so much I decided to pick up a second one to keep in the car. I went through two of them. The first wouldn't make power in full sun (obviously something wrong). The replacement for it, would charge my cell phone (via 12V cigarette lighter adapter) in direct full sun, but not in full sun sitting on my dashboard (something my original Nomad 7 has no problem with). Apparently the glass is reducing the light enough that it cannot get the power high enough to charge.

Needless to say, both were returned and I guess I am not going to get a second one. The first one is great, but the power output of the subsequent ones has been all over the map. A better job of QC needs to be done before the panels ship out to make sure they perform consistently.

This is bar none the best portable solar charger I've come across. It charges basically anything smaller than an iPad. I've charged countless toys in little amounts of time during hikes in / or fly fishing. Amazing piece of technology. Secondly, their customer service is polite, know their products, and respond quickly to emails / phone calls. This company and their gear couldn't be more highly recommended. It's the best I've found.

Premium White Rapid Car Charger w/ IC Charger for NEW Creative the 'ZEN' / Zen Micro Photo / Zen Micro / Zen Neeon / Muvo Slim / XMOD
  • Brand new non-OEM
  • Vehicle Lighter Adaptor
  • Intelligent IC chip inside recognizes a full battery and automatically switch to a saver.
  • Plug never heats or overcharges the battery.
  • Short circuit protection.

You get what you pay for. In this case, junk. It lasted all of 2 days and one use. The wires fell out of the usb connection. Unfortunately for me it was while I was driving down the road on a 4 hour trip and within the first 30 min after leaving the house. I suggest buying something a bit more expensive that will last more than a couple days. Very poorly constructed connections.

The usb plug broke very easily and threw it away after only two uses. I would instead recommend buying a car charger with a usb port so that you can charge with the usb cable as you would on a computer.

After shipping, this came to almost $25, pricey for an AC charger, However, of the 350 AC chargers that I've collected since 1984, not one of them fit the Sony MP3 player. (I've got a box of 'em, from calculators to high end 8mm camcorders, from cell phones to mp3s. Zip, zero, nada.) Anyway, although my Sony's battery does indeed last 37 hours give or take, just in case I'm traveling, it's great to know I can plug it in while I wait for my usually late NWA flight. And then I'm set even if we're on the tarmac for 5 hours (my personal worst).

Retractable Rapid Car Charger with IC Chipfor Verizon LG VX8560 Chocolate 3

Retractable Rapid Car Charger with IC Chipfor Verizon LG VX8560 Chocolate 3This is a pretty cool car charger. I like it because the cord is retractable but be careful the cord is thin. It really does the job though.

This little retractable charger is VERY durable, despite it's initial looks. Being retractable, there's no tugging at the phone when talking while plugged-in. I had a 'spiral-corded' type charger and it would unplug almost every time i grabbed my phone, well problem solved with this type of charger. I highly recommend this product it's far superior to the norm!

Associated Equipment 9014 ATEC 6/12V 10/2 Amp Automatic Charger

Associated Equipment 9014 ATEC 6/12V 10/2 Amp Automatic ChargerWorks well and is heavily built with a hefty, copper-wound transformer. Worth the few extra bucks to get this kind of build quality.

The charger does not have indication of the charging status. There is an amp meter window. I started to charge a low battery but the amp meter pointed to zero amp for a long time. I began to wonder if the charger even worked. After a few hours charging I went to back to check and saw the indicator pointed to near 3 amps. After disconnecting the charger I measured the battery. The battery had no voltage could be detected before charging and now it registered at 12 volts. Obviously the charger worked.

It would be nice if the charger had LED to indicate the status of the charging process.

This is the 2nd inverter(returned 1st one for same reason). Supposed to put out 110 to 120 volts but output is only 90 volts with 13 volt imput and no load. This time I ordered a Xantrex pure sine wave inverter.

I have used or been familiar with Tripp-Lite products for many years, from revolving emergency lights to surge-suppressing power strips to this fine product and others. I have never once been disappointed. I have not yet exercised it to its maximum capacity but would recommend it for anyone.

P.S. I saw a post somewhere in which a gentleman referred to the output voltage being low. As a point of information, the voltage reading will not always indicate like typical line voltage because of the pseudo-sine wave output and depending on the meter that is used (digital dual-slope integration vs analog vs cheap vs technical level of experience) to acquire the reading.

To be fair, I am not an electrician. I am a programmer. But after studying different small-scale solar installations, I decided to go with this inverter because it came recommended by Mother Earth News.

After hooking everything up per instructions, I can successfully turn the lights on, then the radio, then a battery charger for my cordless drill.

But, if I try to start my radio, then turn the lights on, the on-board breaker pops on this inverter. It is really getting annoying.

I am also only getting 89VAC out and no load. It's like this thing can't handle any kind of load.

I'm sending this back.
