I'm not saying it seems like it was built bad, I'm just saying I don't know what I was thinking buying this for everyday use, and as my first non OEM product I already regret it, but for the price emergency use in my go bag is fine.

I am writing this in the hope that it will help some other buyer's of this product.

There is a place on the belt clip to place a wrist strap. However, no wrist straps come with this model. I had wrist straps that came with my older Cobra 950DX model and transferred them to this model.

The reason I bought this model is that it had the longest advertised range that still used AAA rechargeable batteries. It does say in the manual to "Use only the supplied rechargeable batteries and charger for recharging your Cobra microTALK radio." Now I know why! I tried to use my duracell AAA rechargeable batteries that were fully charged. No lights came on the charger and the batteries would not charge. AAA rechargeable batteries should be interchangeable-right? The Duracell batteries are 800mah 1.2 volts and the supplied rechargeables are 600mah 1.2 volts. If you look at the batteries in the illustration, you will note that the bottom 3/8" of the battery is silver in color. This is a continuous wrap from the bottom negative terminal. On the lower left inside the battery compartment of the radios is a contact that makes contact with that lower 3/8" of the battery. Without making that contact the charger lights and charger will not work. You can wrap some aluminum foil around the one duracell or generic AAA rechargeable battery that makes that contact and everything works. I can only figure that Cobra tried to make everyone buy their OEM batteries for replacement. Personally, I think this is stupid. The advantage of the AAA rechargeable batteries is that they can be easily found and purchased if needed.

The radios work although I have not done any distance range tests. I also wish they had the vibration alert on this model. I can live without it, but I did like that feature on my old 950DX model.

The AAA battery problem has been overcome. The reason for the 4 stars and not 5 is the omission of the wrist straps. It just seems like all of the manufacturers are cutting every corner they can to save pennies.

I have owned this product for 2 years. It is built solid and has several nice features. I like that it is small enough to fit comfortably in a pocket and the antenna is not big. I have used the units on road trips to keep in contact with other vehicles and used it in theme parks. I have used the VOX (voice activated features) to know when my baby woke up (sleeping in a cabin), and I have used the US weather alert reports. I am pleased with the range and clarity. In the city its range is superior to 5 mile talk units which is not suprising as this is a 25 mile unit. This unit has given me fairly reliable reception at about 2 miles in residential areas. I tested it at 26 miles across Salt Lake Valley from one high point in Salt Lake City to another high point at the other end of the valley in Herriman, Utah. The reception was good, so the farthest distance claim is accurate as long as there are no intervening buildings and hills, etc.

Bought these as a Christmas present and after three weeks of light use, noticed that the radios would not recharge. Contacted Amazon who sent a replacement and e-mailed return shipping to me. Got the new ones and plugged them into the charger and these would not charge. "Wiggled" the power cord a little and the charger started working, but this only lasted a couple of days before it crapped out completely. I suspect the chargers cord is made from very cheap and brittle wire. While the radios appear to work well, they are useless if they cannot be charged. Amazon promptly refunded me for this item.

As far as Amazon.com goes: Their customer service has been outstanding. They sent the first replacements and they appeared on my doorstep the very same day I shipped off the defective ones. The refund on the second set came very quickly, too. They have been Johnny-on-the-spot. No questions asked. Thank you Amazon.

I lead workshops and I give each participant a radio to be able to keep in touch with them. I attached a wrist strap lanyard with a carabiner to each radio through the spot on the clip for this attachment, but this doesn't attach the lanyard to the radio, but rather the clip itself. And it doesn't take much for the clip to be bumped and slid off the radio. When that happens, your lanyard kept the clip nice and secure, but the radio is lost. Bad design, and there is no spot on the radio to attach a lanyard.

Range is excellent on these radios, with a good set of adjustment options. These are an upgrade from older Cobra radios I used, and these are much, much better.

These radios performed exactly as I expected when purchasing them. We just took them hunting in very mountainous terrain in Utah and they did great. I read reviews for weeks before purchasing this model, and I'm glad I spent the time on research. My husband and I were able to maintain contact up in the mountains with a couple miles and hills between us. We rarely had line of sight, but the signal was crystal clear. We even got fairly decent reception from the in-laws hunting camp several miles and a couple mountain tops away from us. We did lose contact one time when I was down in a gully and my husband was a couple of ridgelines away from me, but it didn't last long. Overall, I think they performed as well as, if not better than expected. Good radios are hard to find for the type of terrain and distances I'm talking about here.

We'll be investing in Rinos over the next few years, but for now these radios are just fine. I recommend taking some time to get familiar with the instruction manual. I ended up using more of the features than I ever have before on a radio, and really liked them. I even used the VOX feature as a baby monitor so I could hang out in camp with my baby napping in our tent.

The Goal Zero website says that the adapter comes with the AAA batteries. I took the chance that this set of AAA batteries had the adapter. When I got the order, the adapter was there, and I was happy. Adapter and AAA batteries fit perfectly.

This is more of an FYI since I just got the product and have been wondering for the longest time if it had the insert/adapter. At first I was kinda skeptical after reading all the reviews. Some came with an Insert/Adapter, most didn't. But after reading Clint's assurance that the products ordered through Amazon will come with the Insert/adapter, I decided to risk it. Good thing I didn't have to go through all that hassle.

This battery lasts forever! The specs alone look very good compared to the optima batteries. It's got the same versatility as the optima batteries whether you want to lay it on the side or straight up. For the size, they should be able to output a little more CCA but if you're using it for an audio system or a lowrider this type of battery would work great. If you have a lot of space in the trunk, there are a few other options if you want to go bigger. I think they look great for your show car too! I received my charger recently and my experience is identical to the other reviewer's. When the phone is plugged in, touch doesn't work. Random applications open up, and it seemed as if my battery level discharged by a few percent after being plugged in for about 10 seconds (I used the diagnosic interface to notice the decrease--about 3%). It doesn't charge, the phone doesn't work, and it could even damage the phone in the long run.

Quite simply, do not buy this.

Guess you get what you pay for. $4 for 2 wall chargers and 2 car chargers seemed like a good deal. I received the products yesterday. I haven't tried the car charger, but the wall charger doesn't work as advertised. It may be charging my phone, but I'm unable to use it while it's being charged. My Samsung Focus started acting very strange when it was plugged in using this charger. I was unable to slide the locked screen up, so I unplugged it then unlocked the phone. I plugged it back it. At this point, the phone started switching between email accounts and apps on its own. I tried using both of the wall chargers and the same thing happened. The phone charging indicator looked like the phone was charging, but with this odd behavior I've become concerned it may damage the phone. I'm not using the wall chargers again. And I'm not sure if I'm going to bother trying the car charger after my experience with the wall charger.

This product charges but it does not show up as charged until you unplug and turn on your Zune. After I charged, it became stuck on the up arrow. It never switched songs as it played and only turned the volume up. I had to shut it down the bad way to get it back to a normal state. I do not recommend.

This is a nice set of tools, don't get me wrong, but the fact that the box says "Made in China" is a big disappointment coming from Craftsman. That being said, the tools have the same solid feel that the made in USA tools have and the plastic box is mostly sturdy and holds the tools well. The hex key set kind of floats freely in one section of the box, but this is not a big deal for me. Would be four stars if made anywhere else but China and Five if made in USA as all Craftsman tools SHOULD be.

Not worth it. Barely worked right for a month and then *POOF* the magic was over. Not a very reliable charger.

Shorai Charge and Store Battery Management System for Lithium Iron Extreme-Rate Battery SHO-BMS01

This definitely isn't a Battery Tender in terms of build quality. It looks more like an indoor lab instrument than something you'll want to keep in a damp garage. The connectors are definitely not ruggedized, so after you connect the short one to the Shorai battery's special plug, you end up with a very raw-looking electronic connector end hanging out of the bike that you use to connect the opposite end from the charger. It's not like the typical SAE type connector used for a Battery Tender type charger.

So for dual-sport bikes, you'll end up with a connector on the bike that will get wet and muddy really quick. Best figure out somewhere to hide it or a way to wrap it in plastic or something for protection.

Also, the connector that goes to the battery is pretty short and it plugs into the charger. So you can't really set the charger on the floor and connect it to the short connector attached to the battery in the bike. You have to put a chair or box next to the bike to hold the charger.

Bottom line is that Shorai needs to look at the common Battery Tender to get a better idea of how a garage-ruggedized charging system should be built. Not that Battery Tender is the dog's bollocks, just that the Shorai system seems a bit fragile for motorcycles and garage use.

Otherwise, it charges and maintains the Shorai battery ok. It's a bit confusing; when you turn on the charger, you can choose maintenance or charge and you press the buttons but aren't really sure about what's happening.

It's also pretty expensive for what it is and I'm not really sure it's needed because the Li-Fe battery seems to last forever and reads full voltage all the time, no matter how long the bike sits -which is the advantage of buying a Li-Fe battery in the first place. So if your bike's charging system works correctly, you probably will not need a Shorai charger for your Shorai Li-Fe battery -save your money.

I bought this to go with the Shorai battery to discover that a normal tender will do the job... Cables are rerally short meaning the maintener has to hand on the side of the bike... expensive too!

I already own Li-on/Li-Po chargers for my RC stuff, but I got this because it's plug and play and if you've already invested the over $100 in the Shorai or a similar A123 type battery, you might as well take care of it properly. I live in the Northeast, so it's necessary to keep it topped of for the winter. I have heated gear so I ride when most people don't.

This is a nice item to have since it balances the charge to each cell, something other smart chargers don't do. Only 2 drawbacks are:

1. Charger plug into battery is a bit flimsy and requires some protection to prevent breakage or bending the contacts.

2. Cable to from battery to the power supply is too WAY short for many applications, such as placing the power supply on your work bench while charging the battery on your bike.

If a cable extension was available, that would solve the problem, but there does not seem to be such an item.

Both the AC and DC charging elements work well, but you have to pay attention to how long it's charging. I forgot it and left it on for over 12 hours with 4 AA batteries, and when I pulled them were rather hot. Not hot enough to burn you but a lot hotter than when charging normally. For a new ham getting into it for my city CERT program, this was just perfect for the price. The "standard" recommended was a much higher end Yaesu hand held which I tested out, and albiet at 3x the cost had some nifty features. But the UV-5RE was quite suitable, that is with the aid of the Yahoo group BaoFeng UV-5 and installation of the CHRIP software package which worked fine on my MacBook Pro.

I definitely recommend for those who are willing to work at figuring out the radio; as many others have stated the chenglesh manual is fairly useless. However if programming a TV remote control causes you consternation, I'd recommend the getting something with a bit more documentation, or better yet, a unit that others around you use and can help you get going with. This radio is definitely a DIY job!

After many years using Motorola and Uniden for my work as a Security guard I was recommended to try the new Baofeng 5RE I was very hesitant but after reading the other reviews I decided hey! $50 dollars is throw away...but to my utter surprise after getting my head around the many options I gave it the distance and clarity test ...to say I was shocked is putting it mildy..it gave me 2.5 kilometer clear reception going through heavy trees (Forest)and small vally dip but started to break up slightly getting further away...but my other Uniden and Motorola died at about 1 kilometer same situation and they cost 2 to 3 times more I kid you not!!! and this thing has radio and alarm, spotlight, and many more useful features all for $50!! what a bargain. I still cannot see how they can build a solid robust highly advanced unit for so little..I have paid $50 for kiddes 2 ways...Advice to anybody thinking about other alternatives..TRY IT! you will not be disapointed..I just ordered 3 more..total 8..The only thing I did not comment on was relibility over time but I am sure they will not disapoint..but we shall see.

Do some research the UV5R Boafeng has a bunch of radios and updated models that solve past issues. I have the UV5RE which works great. THere is another model after this I think. The only issue is the headset mic that comes with it is cheap and sounds so bad it is almost unusable but at this price who cares. There are also big issues with the programming cable you will need to order separate as there are lots of counterfit cables that are problematic to use.

Well after looking for a radio to start with getting into the Ham Radio World I looked and got into reading reviews. And I have to say I found sites that help me pick this radio without having to spend a lot of money on a radio. Yes it will be something new to me to learn how to do all you can do on this little radio. But learning something new with more money in the bank is better than learning something with no money in the bank. So if you don't understand what I am saying it is a great radio without breaking you.

The camera works well and takes great 1080P HD movies in the daytime but night performance is quite poor, not as good as some other less expensive cameras. The video is dark and everything looks brown and fuzzy at night so it's best to use this model just in the daytime. Also it's a sports cam not a car DVR. Although it can be used in a car it won't come on and start recording automatically. It also has a few other issues. Due to being waterproof there is a heavy rubber cover over the buttons that makes them hard to press. Also the mic, which is inside the case, doesn't pick up much sound unless the back cover is open but with it open you get a lot of rattling noise. The mounting hardware also has issues. The angle bracket and the suction cup mount connect with 4 small prongs but they have a bump on them that prevents sliding into the holes they are supposed to go into. I had to file them off a bit before they would go together. The suction cup is large and has a sticky surface that stays on when it's attached but the prong that the camera sits on is small and lets the camera vibrate and bounce around all the time. Also the knob that is turned to attach the suction cup has a big detent it drops into when it's turned all the way on but then it won't easily come undone to remove it. I purchased different mounting hardware on ebay to use instead of the supplied one, a different suction cup with a metal camera mount attached to it that doesn't vibrate. In addition the mounting plate on the bottom of the camera is attached with 8 small screws that go into little plastic pins and 3 of them are starting to break already so it will probably have to be glued on with epoxy eventually.

This i perfect for the car. You can just leave it plugged in, and the auto-retract feature is great and preventing a tangle of cords to deal with in your center console.

Seems extremely cheaply made, but so far it has not broken in the 4 months I've used it; on average of once a week.
