SKIL 2372-01 7.2-Volt Lithium-Ion Power Wrench

As with any tool, how "good" it is perceived to be is usually based on our intended use. With that being said, this is a very good tool and is also being offered at a good price. Buy it locally and you will have to pay sales tax. Buy it online for a few dollars cheaper and you will have to pay shipping. I certainly wouldn't buy a bunch for resale, but for light duty and small chores, this tool will get the job done.

If you need a mechanic's type tool set for work; this tool is not for you. If you want a tool capable of busting loose lug nuts to change tires, this tool is not useful for that. You get the point, this tool is not an "All in one", "Do Everything" tool nor is it advertised as being one.

What this tool does do well is handle small jobs around the house. I have many corded and cordless tools as well as a couple of air tools. I use those for my heavy work. However, for around the house, this kind of tool can't be beat for convenience. It's lightweight, can get into small spaces and if the power isn't quite enough for what you are loosening or tightening, then you can use it like a manual wrench and it will do whatever your muscles will allow you to do.

The instruction manual that comes with this tool states that you should break a nut/bolt loose in the tool's manual mode (or do the final tightening), and THEN use this tool in the powered mode to finish screwing or unscrewing the bolt/nut/screw. This tool WILL NOT break loose a very tight bolt/nut in the powered mode and it WILL NOT tighten a bolt/nut sufficiently in the power mode. However, used per the manufacturer's instructions, IT WILL properly handle a surprising number of small jobs and beats hauling a heavy tool bag around for small, simple jobs. I find myself using this tool more and more because of its convenience. That's what I bought it for.

This is "only" a 1/4" drive, however, get a 1/4" to 3/8" adapter (very inexpensive) and a whole lot of other sockets become useable. My biggest gripe with my cordless tools is that when I reach for one when I have a small job to do and I find that the battery has drained just sitting on the shelf. NiCad batteries are notorious for this and defeats the purpose of a cordless tool for me (for occasional use). This tool has the newest and best in cordless battery technology namely a Lithium-Ion battery. Lithium-Ion batteries don't have the same problems as NiCad batteries. Lithium-Ion batteries hold their charge even after sitting for months at a time not in a charger. Not only that, but the Lithium-Ion batteries last longer than NiCad's and don't develop "memory". That means that you will get more uses out of this battery before it starts loosing the ability to accept a full charge.

I don't like to see a tool get knocked unfairly. Most of us have heard the saying "Use the right tool for the right job", and the same holds true here. For a tool to use around the house, this one would be very convenient and do the job most would need for light work. Even if you are a professional who uses hand and power tools on your job, this tool could still have a place among your other tools. This tool is well above just a power screwdriver and as I stated previously, if it doesn't have enough power for what you are use it for, then use it manual mode. If that's not enough power for the job, then you are using the wrong tool. I am an ex-mechanic and a certified tool nut. I've done construction/ destruction and many other tool related jobs in between. I own more tools than I realistically will ever need, however, I'm glad I picked up one of these tools to have around the house for when I just want to grab something for a light job and have the battery still charged when I reach for it and let me get a small project done. This it does very well.

Just some food for thought.

I too have had similar problems as others on this product but I would consider it a HUGE PROBLEM! The tool completely died for absolutely no reason after about 9 months of ownership with very little (or lite) usage. The charger light just remains lit a solid green (indicating a full charge) with or without the Skil Wrench in the charger. When I do place the Skil wrench on the charger there is no change in the led color light. Either the tool or charger is completely dead?!

The couple times I did use the Skil wrench though it was very handy and cool tool and would love to have a replacement but I am very hesitant as I am reading other owners are having similar issues. Not good! Absolutely disappointed that the tool would just die for no apparent reason. It was working the last time I used the tool, afterwards I placed the tool onto the charger and came back a month or two later and now the tool is completely dead. Arrrg!

Like I said, wouldn't mind having another one but I don't see that happening based on my experience on the MTBF Quality of the tool along with other experiencing similar issues. Real shame!

I just got this a few weeks ago for Christmas and already used it a few times. Was thrilled with the offset capabilities of the tool. Energizer Instant Charger Made for iPod/iPhone

Before Hurricane Sandy made landfall, forecasters in my area warned of prolonged power outages that could possibly last a week or longer. Thankfully, my area didn't take the brunt of the storm, but it got me thinking about what I would do for communications during a prolonged outage. I have a couple external, rechargeable batteries I could use to charge my iPhone, but what would I do once they were dead? Solar chargers are available, but the technology doesn't seem to be quite there yet and most reviews indicate they can take up to a week of clear, blue skies to recharge fully.

The Energizer Instant Charger is a practical choice. Although it comes with single-use Lithium batteries (expensive), you can use any brand rechargeable AA NiMH batteries in it (I personally like Rayovac's Hybrid AA batteries, which can be found for under ten dollars for a 4-pack at many stores). This allows you to keep as many backup batteries on hand as you like in the event of a power outage (you can use alkalines as well). So if it comes down to it, you could keep your phone charged with batteries from your remotes, clocks, etc. And for times when you don't need it, you can use the batteries in your Wiimotes, digital cameras, and other devices, so you don't need to keep batteries specifically dedicated to this charger.

It uses the Apple 30-pin connector, so it will not work with the new iPhone 5 or any Android phones (however, I believe this is also keeping the price of the device fairly low at the time of this writing)

If you have an iPhone 4S or earlier, and you wish to prepare for disaster, this is the charger for you. It accepts alkaline disposable, NiMh rechargable, and lithium disposable batteries. Energizer thoughtfully provided a set of its own lithium disposable batteries. This type of battery is great for disasters because they will wait happily for 10 years or more for the disaster to start.

Being able to accept alkaline cells is also great. Personally, I hate alkalines because they frequently leak on me. But in an extended disaster, you will want to be able to use whatever battery type is available. Alkalines are available everywhere.

No cable to lose, and the protective cap grips reasonably well.

I like the "slide out" battery tray. When you change batteries, you do not disassemble the charger so you won't lose any pieces. Well, except for the protective cap. Watch that one.

Durability seems OK. It looks strong enough to survive a fall of a few feet. If you sit on it, you'll probably smash it.

The only negative I can find is that this charger might be too specialized for some people. It will only charge Iphones and iPod Touches, and is not compatible with the latest models such as iPhone 5. The fact that there is no cable means that your iPhone and charger form one very long and slightly unstable unit while connected. That's the trade-off for having no cord to lose.

If you do not have landline telephone service at home, then it would be useful to have this charger at home. Change the batteries every 10 years or so, and don't forget where you stashed it.

On a set of 2650 mAh (milliampere-hour, a measure of battery capacity) rechargeable batteries, I was able to bring my iPhone 4 from a charge of 52% to 100%. That's more than I was expecting to get out of 3 AA batteries, so I'm satisfied.

Now, Energizer recommends AA Energizer Ultimate Lithium batteries (non-rechargeable, and comes included in the package), but you CAN use alkaline or rechargeable batteries. Take note that alkaline and rechargeable batteries have lower charging capacities than lithium batteries.

If you plan on using the charger regularly as your primary power source to power your device, think again. This charger is best used as a backup power supply in an emergency (since lithium batteries are expensive, and alkaline/rechargeable batteries won't fully charge the iPhone). Personally, I take it along on my hikes because I use an off-road GPS app on my iPhone. Having this charger with me gives me the peace of mind of knowing that if my iPhone battery runs low, I can still keep my GPS app going by powering it on a few AA batteries (I always bring loads of spare AA batteries with me as backup power for my flashlights, geotagger, and other devices).

● Construction

The construction is pretty descent, although the charger looks and feels a bit on the cheap side. Still, I think it will hold up quite nicely, as long as you're not putting it in your back pocket or anywhere the charger might get banged around. The iPhone connector doesn't jiggle, like a few people claimed in their reviews. I wouldn't leave the charger dangling on the iPhone however (or vice versa). It's best to hook up the charger to the iPhone and set both on a flat surface.

● Function

The 3 included lithium batteries can recharge a dead phone (i.e. 0% charge) to 100%. The batteries are pretty much spent after that. NiMH rechargeable batteries can add 50% charge to your phone. I haven't tried alkaline batteries, but I reckon the charge capacity of alkaline batteries to be between that of lithium batteries and NiMH rechargeable batteries (75%). The phone takes about the same time to charge on the Energizer charger as it does on the USB port on my computer.

The charger comes with a cap for protecting the connector on the charger (cap not shown in the picture on the product page). After you remove the cap to access the connector, you can pop the cap on the other end of the charger, where it will stay on securely, so you won't lose the cap.

The battery sliding cover allows you to quickly and easily change out the 3 AA batteries. The sliding cover cannot be removed, so you don't risk losing it.

● Portability

The charge is compact, measuring only 3-7/8" x 1-7/8" x 3-1/4" (Length x Width x Thickness). It weighs 1.6 oz without batteries and 4.8 oz with batteries.

This charger does exactly what Energizer says it will do on the product page. It gives the iPhone 2 times the run time when the charger is used with lithium batteries (i.e. after you've run down a fully charged phone, this charger will fully charge the iPhone once. The charger thus helps to double the run time on the iPhone).

However, this charger when used with alkaline/NiMH rechargeable batteries won't fully charge an iPhone whose battery is fully depleted (It's not the Energizer charger's fault. 3 alkaline/rechargeable AA batteries SIMPLY DON'T HAVE ENOUGH POWER to fully recharge an iPhone. It's a wonder they work to charge the iPhone at all). And the recommended lithium batteries are expensive.

But the charger serves as a very practical backup power supply for your iPhone in an emergency. Recommended as long as you don't have unrealistically high expectations of this charger.

Let me say that this charger works well... but keep in mind, you should use this charger for emergencies only. why? Well the connection can be quite flimsy and if you have a particular case which is not completely open at the bottom, forget it... You'll need to remove your case completely. Why do I say use for emergencies? There are so many other battery/chargers around you can easily get something that would work better (like a Zagg Sparq), However, this shines when you have no access to outlets, need a charge and only have AA batteries.

Now as for does it work? Yes it works well with lithium batteries. I havent gotten the 2x performance, but will say i have been able to fully charge the device after being down to about 30%. Now keep in mind they recommend you use lithium batteries, which have a price premium hence another reason to look at other chargers for daily use.

Last thing to not... if you have an iPhone 5 don't buy this, it wont work with it unless you have the apple adapter.

This unit is not meant to recharge rechargeable AA batteries ...it's only meant to be a conduit to channel power from any AA batteries to the battery in your phone or small notepad (I used this successfully on both my Nexus 4 phone AND Nexus 7 tablet). And that's exactly what I wanted........extra power that I could carry around and would not have to worry about keeping charged up all the time for that moment I needed it. With this charger, if my phone needs an extra boost (even while I'm using it) or if I use up all my power and need to make a phone call, or if I just need to "top it off", I can go into any store and buy three cheap alkaline AA batteries and get a charge out of it. They also include 3 high-powered lithium-ion non-rechargeable batteries (which cost about $2 a piece when purchased separately) which actually provide enough power to fully charge a dead phone; I'm estimating that regular alkaline batteries would probably recharge the phone to maybe 75% (and again, any batteries would be useful to keep it going awhile longer when using any power draining apps). I would not really recommend this as a regular way to re-charge a totally dead phone.....it will work, but will nearly totally deplete your batteries each time you do this). But for providing emergency or extra power when needed, it's excellent.

Bought it to replace my now slightly diminished in capacity original battery on Epic 4G. The new battery works great. This is a great jump box, I bought it for my daughter's school as some peoples batteries were dying when waiting to pick up the kids. It is easy to use, is a perfect size, and the cables are plenty long enough to get the job done easily.

I like the fact that the jump box doesn't use an AC adapter to charge it, as these are easily lost, instead you can use any 2 or 3 prong extension cord, however this is not included so be prepared to buy one if you don't already own one. I have a 2007 Honda Accord with 2 DC 12 volt sockets. One in front and one in the arm rest. The charger does not stay in either. In the picture you can see a silver part on the side. It is a button on each side you squeeze (I think to help it stay plugged in) but the charger pops out when you push it in the socket. It could be how our sockets are positioned but I bought it with the red hard case so it was a cheap add-on. You can try and see if it will fit in your care but if you have a Honda anything you will probably have the same problem.

I was skeptical when I saw this charger at my local retailer, I mean.... These chargers never worked for me in the past and I had all makes and Models. This one works, I have bought over 15 in the past 18 months just on WHAT they can do. I got them for stocking stuffers last year.

Anyways I think I can help a couple of you with your problems.

The person who said there wasn't enough amps to charge their cell phone.... I'm leaning towards LIAR.

The industry standard is 0.5 amps for cell phones. I guessing you didn't have the right cable (Data Only) or

you didn't have it plugged in the right way.

You NEED a Data/Sync cable in order to charge your phone through a USB power outlet. Not just one or the other and they do sell 3 kinds. Data, Sync & Data/Sync.

If using the 12 volt option, you MUST make sure you have pushed this charger ALL THE WAY IN.

The nipple at the tip is the ground, like everyone knows, if it's not grounded it won't work.

It takes some muscle but once it's in, leave it alone.

120 Volt operation, this one was a little tricky, I plugged mine into a wall outlet and it didn't work.

I was showing how great it was to my Dad, I was mortified when he laughed at me.

Then I realized his house had wall outlets connected to light switches and begin to turn them all on in the area.

Red light came on and he was impressed.

One other thing, My kids have NDSi XL's. I found Data/Sync (Charging) cables for the NDS and they can now charge their DS's through this USB port on the road or in the house... It's not what you know, it's WHO you know...

Got this device yesterday but it isn't powerful enough to even charge my cell phone (Motorola V365). Output amps are 0.5A, which apparently isn't even enough for my phone to register it as connected to a charging source. Conveniently the output amps aren't listed in the description for this device...

I've had this unit for about a year now to keep my fair weather car battery up to par in the cold northeast winters. I contemplated getting one of the cheaper, brick type battery maintainers, but when I found this one, I liked the fact that it is voltage and polarity sensing. i have used this product for about 8 months now. it is used to charge 6 and 12v batteries on multiple child electric cars. fully automatic switching between 6 and 12v. all that you have to do is hook up the alligator clips and plug it in. the very easy to read indicator lights on the front panel indicate whether or not you have a good connection. they also indicate with color change from yellow to green when you reach a full charge. i use this every time to charge the small cars, i threw away the cheap chargers that came with the cars. this is so much more dependable.

to the people that have problems, are you trying to charge batteries that this product is not intended for? the manual that comes with this charger tells you what batteries (volt and amps) that you should use it for. if used as intended, this is a great charger.

Received this charger / maintainer to hook up to my ATV battery and immediately began using it. Have owned it for over 2 weeks now and it has run flawlessly, the automatic switch over works perfectly, the included quick connect wiring makes this thing super simple to hook up to your most often charged / maintained piece of equipment and the fact that it is so small makes it super easy to store when not in use. I purchased two pairs of Cobra PR 3000 GMRS 2 watt radios for our ski trip this year. It's one of the best purchases I ever made. I looked at Motorola and Midland before purchasing these. They have more power than Motorola and better built than Midland. I like that most of the buttons are on the face and you don't have to do a lot of menu browsing. We skied at Alta and Snowbird Utah. The ability to talk over the slopes really amazed me. We tried them out in our neighborhood and they worked pretty well. We could converse for a half mile with no trouble at all through trees and houses. However if you go behind a hill the ability to converse is greatly reduced. At Alta Snowbird you are in a canyon with granite walls, so I think the signal is bouncing off the canyon walls, becuase we could talk for miles, even with ridges between us. At the frequencies and power levels of these radios you should get great reception if you are in line of sight without too many obstructions. But don't expect to go much over a half mile if you have a lot of obstructions. If you are true line of sight with no obstructions, you can go further than the 5 miles advertised. In a granite canyon like little cottonwood canyon they were great! We were in a group of 8 skiers and it was snowing hard and difficult to stay together. My 12 year old daughter got separated from us and called in to let us know where she was. It saved hours of anxiety for us and kept us from ruining our ski day. Same thing happened the next day with my 11 year old daughter. As far as I'm concerned it was well worth the price.

The chargers are advertised as new; They are not. They seem to charge but all the ones that I ordered are very loose fitting (it's difficult to tell if they're inserted properly). The chargers are knicked up, the Sprint logo is worn and there's hair in the velcro cord strap.

This charger works intermittently. I have to adjust and move around the plug in to get it to work. I have a sprint 4g phone.

I was truly skeptical of this product when I saw it on Amazon, but I purchased it and it has been a life saver, mainly because it does both, electrical and in the car. When I travel I only have to travel with one adapter vs two, and the price is fantastic. My husband originally purchased his adapter locally from a store for $14.99, what a rip off, it was a great price on Amazon. I love Amazon and all the products. Ok, I am what you would call a valued Amazon customer. I order from Amazon very often and for many years and this is the first bad review like this I had to write. I actually read the reviews before ordering this charger and decided that the 2 that I read (with different issues) had to be just bad units. WRONG.. The charger I received was in fact USED, not new as described. Also the charger did not work at all. The port that plugs into the phone was so worn that it would not even stay in the phone.. (really Amazon). What bothers me the most about this is Amazon shipped this from one of their many warehouses. I often will change who I order from if Amazon will be shipping it as I have experienced that they will take pride in putting their name to something they ship. If you can't start your car or truck with this thing, you have bigger problems than a dead battery! This unit is one of the most powerful portable battery jumpers out there at 1700 peak amps. That's almost twice as powerful as many other lower quality competitors.

This is not a "multi-purpose" unit that you will find at the local big box store. It's not an air compressor, radio, flashlight, food processor and battery jumper. It's only a battery jumper, although it does have a "cigarette-lighter" style socket to power other items if needed.

This is a great product, but consider this before you buy it: This model may not be for everyone. This is a professional grade item and is not intended to be used by people unfamiliar with proper battery jumping procedures. Here's why I say this:

1. Some battery jumping devices have a feature that will alert you if you hook the jumper cables up incorrectly. This unit has no such feature.

2. Some have safety switches that remove power to the cables while you are hooking them up. This unit has no such switch.

3. Some battery jumpers have sophisticated chargers that won't allow you to overcharge the battery. Not this one. When you plug it in to recharge it, you can't just walk away for 2 days and let it charge. You have to monitor it during the recharging process.

4. Some battery jumpers have a set of generic lights to tell you the current state of charge of the booster box. Not this one. It has a voltmeter on the front and you need to know how to read it.

Now, none of these items is THAT big of a deal, but I thought it was worth mentioning. If you aren't familiar with how to properly jump-start a car, you may be better off with another model with more "dummy-proof" features.

One last comment: This Jump n Carry comes with a redeemable certificate for a one-time replacement unit. If (for ANY reason) this unit stops working during its lifetime, you send it back to the company with the certificate (along with $50) and they will repair or replace it, no questions asked. Not a bad deal!

Bottom Line: If you need the most power in a single-purpose jumper box, buy this one!

Per the manufacturer, all of the JNC660's manufactured AFTER May 2010 now have an AUTO CHARGE feature that allows for you to plug the unit into charge and not have to monitor the charging process. This was a very big drawback of this unit prior as noted in one of the 5 star reviews from G.Powers [Looking for the most powerful battery jumper? Read on..., November 21, 2007] However, the other 'dummy proof' features are still not included in this unit (reverse hookup and turning off power to the cables during hookup)

First off let me just say that this unit is a heck of a lot better than the ones in your box stores. I have a construction company so there is always something with a dead battery everyday. This unit works good for the first, second, and 'sometimes' third jump but that's usually it. After about 8 days of heavy use I can only get the unit to recharge to about 70%I may return it. My only other complaint is that when you are in a hurry and wrap the cables back up its very easy to slice into the cable with the handles.

Bought this over priced gadget, plus 4 additional sensors to prevent damage from a catastrophic tire failure on my 5th wheel trailer. Long story short, I had a tire failure and got no warning from this thing. The only thing I got was about $5,000 in damages from the tire tread, before it left the Wheel altogether. When I learned of the failure and found the wheel without the tire, I checked this thing's monitor, which not only did not Indicate a problem, but further gave me readings that the tire was still on the rim with 80.7 lbs of air within. The company did contact me and eventually convinced me that a signal booster was needed for my setup. I installed and signals do seem much better, but the need for this device, or it's placement, is not addressed in the manual. I'm very impressed with the way the company responded and worked with me on this thing, which causes me to raise the rating from one to three stars.

When they work, they work fine. If you have to remove one cap of the system it is hard to reprogram. Usually I have had to start all over. Programing could be set up easier

I didn't like spending the money but I'll have to say it saved me twice on the road. Had a tire leak down twice before I found the problem. If it hadn't of warned me I probably would have run the tire flat and blew the one next to it. Great unit and easy to use. I had a friend get one and he loves it. Would recommend to anyone who wants to keep track of those tires when going down the road. Peace of mind is well worth the price.I even monitor my pickup I pull behind with my motorcycle in the bed. Milwaukee 0780-20 28 Volt Wet/Dry Vacuum,

First, it should be obvious that this is a bare tool. The batteries/charger cost more than the unit. Therefore, it is good if you have other V28 tools.

Next, somewhere someone commented that this is as powerful as a corded vac. It is not. A normal shop vac is around 1000W to 1500W, and it is unrealistic to expect this little portable guy with a 1-1/4" hose to have the same power. It just isn't as powerful.

But, it has a very usable power for my intended purpose, which is to say, it has enough power to clean up a small "mess" without having to lug out a real vac. I find I'm also using it for a surprising amount of small around the house/in the car cleaning/dusting since it is so conveniently portable. The cordless portability is the reason to buy.

A major compromise between power and battery life is that the battery (a big V28 mind you) only lasts maybe 5 minutes. This is enough for a small project clean-up, but don't expect it to clean up your shop. On the plus side, it uses 1-1/4" accessories which concentrate the available suction well and which are also the standard size for home vacuum cleaners. This item does not come with a dust brush attachment which I considered a necessity, but luckily I just bought one for a regular home vac.

The hose is VERY flexible which is nice. It accordians down to a small U-shaped unit which fits into a holder on the side when not in use. If I get a chance, I'll post a pic since this was one of my questions when purchasing it. It is fairly easy to carry in one hand and vacuum with the other.

I cannot quite give it 5 stars because I think it is still a bit overpriced, and some parts like the hinges, etc., seem a bit on the cheap side and clunky to use. I cannot comment on long-term durability yet. Hope this review helps you.

I was excited to make this purchase and am glad I did. This is so handy and I find myself reaching for it all the time because it is so quick. One of the best things I found out about this unit, is that you can put the hose into two ports, one for suction and another for blowing. I use the blowing feature for cleaning out computers and filters. Works great. Absolutely love it.

Nothing compares to this vacuum. Anyone complaining about battery life or saying your better off with a regular plug in vacuum is an idiot. It's great for small jobs but I get by with just using it instead of a huge corded vacuum on any job site. I find I use it more than a standard large vacuum because it is so portable. I've also used it to drain supply lines so they can be soldered for plumbing repairs (a real time saver). It's also great for hard to reach areas where a cord is just not in the cards. The moto krzr k1m I received from Verizon is a cranky phone when it comes to charging through its usb port. It won't recognize a charge through a hub on a desktop computer. It works fine once the connection is fitted correctly. However, on my Motorola RAZR it doesn't fit really tightly. I have to jiggle it around a bit in order to be charging. That's been a bit of a hassle when doing it while driving. Once connected, it works just great. And the connection to the car power port is solid.

I picked up this stand for my wife to use with her iPad, which has a thin back cover on it, and which wraps around the edges of the iPad. The XtremeMac InCharge Sync stand fits her iPad to a tee, and it also fits her iPhone (which is in a case, too). The adjustable back rest adjusts in very small increments, which means the fit can be adjusted quite close, and it provides good support to the iPad. The base is weighted, and is large enough that the iPad doesn't feel like it's going to topple over. As with any new stand/dock, it takes a bit of practice to slide the iPad smoothly onto the dock connector, but after a few times my wife got the hang of it. This is a good dock, it's basic, but does have the adjustable back to support the device with or without a case. It will charge and synch an iPhone, but to charge and synch an iPad, you have to connect it directly to the computer of course. However, I have mine connected to the USB hub and synch wireless. It will take a while to charge if not directly connected to the computer unless you have the new USB hub that has a high output port.
