Battery Mart 12 Volt, 7 Ah Sealed Lead Acid Battery with F2 Terminals

Battery Mart 12 Volt, 7 Ah Sealed Lead Acid Battery with F2 TerminalsUpdate 1 year later: My FIOS BBU is beeping again, indicating that the backup battery is not holding a charge. This battery lasted less than a year but only has a 90-day warranty, so I'll be looking elsewhere for a replacement.

(original 5-star review below:)

This is an exact replacement for the original FIOS BBU battery, but at about 2/3 the price of others I've seen. Switching the batteries takes 5 minutes or less and can be done without turning off the power or the FIOS router. If your FIOS BBU is beeping, this is the cure!

Like many people in our neighborhood, our Verizon Fios back-up power unit battery went dead after about 3 years. This battery works as a replacement, and we've had solid results so far after about 3 months of continuous use.

This battery was dead on arrival. Seriously. Dead as a doornail. Would not buy this again and would not order from the merchant again. I should have spent the time to get a return, but I just never got around to it. You can get *charged* units like this from your local Radio Shack, I've discovered... AND, if you are using this to replace your Verizon FIOS unit, try calling Verizon first. They came out and replaced mine for FREE.

Ordered and Received this battery for replacement for the 5 yr old Verizon FIOS (Fiber Optic) backup battery mid Aug 2010. It is now coming up on mid Nov 2011. The battery is dead. Terrible life. Terrible battery. Not worth your time. Never again.

Cingular 8525 / HTC TyTN / Dopod 838 Pro / iMATE JasJam / Qtek 9600 Desktop Charging Cradlei got two of them and work nice, the only problem is the blue led light, is too strong. But if you will use in your office it is ok.

While this is a decent product that works well it is not worth the 500% markup. Look around. You can find this for under $25.

Instapark® NEW All Black 130W Mono-crystalline Solar Panel, 130 watt

Instapark® NEW All Black 130W Mono-crystalline Solar Panel, 130 wattNOTICE: THIS IS NOT THE SAME PRODUCT I PURCHASED. THIS REVIEW BELONGS TO THE WHITE PANEL

Panel was received and appears to be as promised. My biggest concern is lifespan/warranty. Is it worth saving $60 (delivered price)with an unknown warranty, or better to spend the extra money on a good Kyocera panel with a 20 year warranty? Stay tuned updates will follow in 6 months or if the panel fails.

Update Instapark raised their price since my purchase, and the price on Kyocera panels has come down. Considering there is no warranty information provided from Instapark (supposedly there is a two year warranty but how do you return and how comprehensive is it?), and the lack of history of the company, I cannot recommend this product. This is true especially since you can buy a known brand, made in the US, with an extensive warranty and good service record for almost the same price.

The product itself appears to be operating just fine so far, but where is the support if you need it?

Update after 6 mos: The unit performed well over the summer. No signs of damage from the salt water. So I upgraded my rating to 4 stars. However, doing it over again I still would by a Kyocera panel for the piece of mind that a good warranty would give me and to buy a comparably priced American product.

Installed 4 130 watt panels.

No instructions.

No Warrentee.

Pkging was pretty good, lots of protection inside box.

Frame is well made.

Glass seems of heavy weight.

J-Box seems well made, #12 AWG wire with MC4 connectors, good construction, nice seal.

Silicon on back in every nook and cranny.

Will see how long they last, they do feel like good quality panels.

Panel operates as discribed on label on back of panel.

Hope this helps...

I have bought a half dozen of these panels over the past eight months. The quality seems to be as good as most other panels I have looked at and the price is fair. What impressed me was how well they work. They easily put out the rated power on sunny days and even on cloudy days they still work reasonably well. I am using them as an off grid backup power supply. I want to end this project with a total of twelve panels before the end of the year. The only thing that concerned me was the lack any mention of a warranty. Still, I would recommend these panels. They are working great for me.

I added this panel to my existing system which consists of a hydro-turbine(makes the majority of our power 24 hrs a day, 364 days a year -one down for a rebuild), generators, 6 KW Trace, & everything else.

So far after a handful of days of use, I am relatively pleased. Around the 46th parallel in the full sun of early September, I'm getting as much as 85 watts/panel before a miniscule amount of line loss.

As I've stated in their feedback, these guys seem to have great customer service. Before the product arrived I had a concern that they addressed almost immediately.

Want Instapark® NEW All Black 130W Mono-crystalline Solar Panel, 130 watt Discount?

I ordered three of these Instapark 130 Watt panels to supply power to a trailer because 120 VAC is only available using a generator. So far, I have only connected one panel to a SunSaver solar controller just to keep the (old crummy 12V) trailer battery charged. I will wait until warmer weather to connect the other two panels and get two new 6V deep cycle batteries and a true-sine inverter at that time. I have tested all three panels and the two I haven't used yet tested okay on my volt meter, so I think they are okay. According to my solar controller readout, I was cranking over 9 amps out of the one panel at a little over 14 volts. I was getting the full 130 Watts out of this panel on a sunny day! That's great! I read about another brand of panel rated at 100 W that people were only able to get about 80 W out of. I am very pleased that this panel, rated at 130 W, was able to produce the full 130 W at a voltage that could charge the battery and/or run 12V equipment. I think these panels are excellent values and would definitely buy more from Instapark.

Phone Halo Protect Tracker - Black

Phone Halo Protect Tracker - BlackFirst, my review:

Great concept, solid looking Android app, and long battery life. There were two issues that caused me to return the item

1) VERY cheap housing material/build quality! The keyring is just waiting to break..and the whole thing has a dollar store tactile feel to it.

2) KILLS your phone's battery! (Tried on stock MT4G and N1 w/CM6.1) If you want the GPS logging, it literally relies on your phone's GPS being on 24/7..otherwise, it'll just give you the tower-triangulation location, which has an accuracy of +/1,000+ feet. The device doesn't have it's own GPS integrated, despite what it semi-implies.

For my purposes, I just bought a cheap bluetooth headset and downloaded the Car Locator app, which will save your location whenever a bluetooth device unpairs with it.

That being said, the bigger issue I have with this item is the obvious clutter of shill reviews!

Notice how most of the 5 star reviews appear to sound like commercials...acting as though this changed someone's life on the same scale as having a third thumb? Well, feel free to click the reviewers posting histories, and you'll notice that nearly all of them have reviewed only this one item..ever. Also, many of these suspect reviews are bunched around February 4th of 2010. Keep in mind that this is the same company that gave themselves a 5 star review on the Android Market with the comment simply being their email address.

To further reinforce the dubious nature of some of the reviews, hop on over to PhoneHalo's website and click "about." You'll quickly notice that their CTO/Co-Founder suspiciously shares a last name with 2 of the 5-star reviewers. Sure..it's possible that people have common last names but what a coincidence that, within one click of the Phone Halo Facebook page, the fact that Ann is the CTO's mom and Carrie is his wife stares you in the face. Also, on "about" page, you'll notice that Glass Lighthouse media put together their marketing video. What a coincidence that one of the reviews again, from someone that isn't an Amazon verified purchaser is from none other than Glasslighthouse. Furthermore, another glowing review, left just a few days later, is from someone by the name of "Jeremy Canterbury". Want to take a wild guess at the name of Glasslighthouse's CFO?

There are certainly some high reviews that sound legitimate, but without the fake ones pulling up the average, the item would probably have a 2 at best.

Disclaimer/clarification: I am, in no way, shape, or form, involved with any consumer electronics companies, and have no vested interest in the success/failure of this product. I am simply a buyer who had to put up with their runaround to return the item (bought it direct through them since it was cheaper), and I feel fleeced, since I depended on those reviews when selecting the Phone Halo.

This is a cool product idea, but it had too many bugs. It would lock my phone whenever it felt like it. Even turning every thing off (all alarms, notifications, etc.) And turning the app itself off wouldn't stop it. My keys would be sitting on top of my phone and the alarm would go off.

Buy Phone Halo Protect Tracker - Black Now

I occasionaly leave either my Blackberry Tour or Keys behind. I reviewed both Zomm & Phone Halo. I ruled Zomm out because it's built-in bluetooth speaker doesn't play nice with other bluetooth headsets or the bluetooth speakerphone in my car. The Phone-Halo paired fine with my Blackberry Tour and will make it ring when they move too far apart (beyond bluetooth range). But I have one major concern which may cause me to return it.

1. The beeper volume on the Phone-Halo is so low you can barely hear it. Not good if you're looking for the keyring its attached to, especially if buried in the couch or in a jacket where you wouldn't hear it at all. Because the volume is soo low I don't know if it goes off at night when my Blackberry automatically turn off to conserve power for 8 hours while I'm sleeping. I immediately emailed Phone-Halo support the day after I receive the unit about this problem. After 2 business days and no reply I sent a 2nd request and finally heard back from their support. Their reply confirmed this is a known problem and they're working on a fix. My question back to them was a) how soon and b) will it be a free upgrade or replacment unit. After a week I've yet to hear back. Deduct 1 star until its fixed for free.

2. The button on the Phone-Halo when pushed for 3 seconds (per their website) is suppose to make my cell phone ring to help locate it. Problem is it doesn't make my cell phone ring. I included this in my email to support and found that instead of one 3 second push it shoud be 3 quick pushes (which does make the phone ring). I pointed out the error in their website manual but its still lists the 3 second push.

3. The on-off switch on the unit can accidently be turned off (especially attached to the keys in my pocket) causing my phone to go off. A more secure design would be nice to prevent accidently turn off. In addition, once the unit & phone are in range again it takes almost a minute for them to pair up again. Deduct 1 star again.

4. Their is no indication on the Phone Halo to tell if the unit is paired or what its battery status is. I guess they figure that when you phone starts ringing you'll figure it out but by then it might be too late to charge the halo unit until you get home. There is a tiny indicator on the phone next to the Bluetooth logo indicating the phone and the halo are paired.

5. The distance indicator, when connected, shows either VERY CLOSE or FAR nothing in between. Since this is typically a 30'diameter I got a lot of places to search.

Hopefully I'll hear back in a couple more days from their support with info on the beeper volume fix. Otherwise I'm happy with the device. All it will take is one found lost/forgotten set of keys or phone and I'll be very happy!

I tried this little device on a a business trip. It malfunctioned when I used the gps feature on my phone. It also lost connection during a seminar and started beeping. (Quite embarrassing). I still have the device and may try it later. But for now my HTC Thunderbolt with Verizon service and the Halo aren't speaking.

Want Phone Halo Protect Tracker - Black Discount?

You should have a minimum technical knowledge to use this. I mean, You should be able to tell when a Bluetooth device is paired or not. Since, if the pairing drops for any reason, you will not be able to ring your device if lost. Otherwise, when paired, this item is a lifesaver. We used it on an android phone with its free market app. My mom who always misplaced her phone used this item for a week and found her phone successfully several times. However, I would have to check her phone and make sure it was paired at random intervals, and remind her to charge the Halo. We only had to charge it once in the week that we used it so the battery seems to last very long, but I can no longer be her tech support so she told me to sell it.

Does a good job of charging 18650 cells. It has a decent build quality and exceptional price. I would purchase another.

Sirius SP-TK2 Sportster Replay Satellite Radio with Car Kit

Sirius SP-TK2 Sportster Replay Satellite Radio with Car KitI won't clutter up this review with pros and cons on Sirius vs. XM satellite radio service. You can sign up for a 3-day trial of each at their respective websites if you need help making that decision. Instead, I'll assume that you've already gone with Sirius and focus on whether or not the Sportster Replay is the right plug-and-play receiver for your needs.

INSTALLATION

The Sportster Replay is a plug-and-play receiver, which means that you shouldn't need to modify the existing stereo setup in your car or boat to use it. After plugging in the external antenna and the power cord, 99% of users will be ready to roll. I have read reports of a handful of users having trouble getting an adequate signal with this simple install, but I've not personnally experienced this (see more details under "Performance" below). It took me just under an hour to install mine in an SUV, with most of that time spent trying different methods for how best to hide those two cords throughout my interior. The only tools that I needed were a screwdriver and a butter knife. It's almost disappointing to discover how easy it is to disassemble your car's interior into pieces, but it really helps out here!

The antenna itself is a flat magnet about the size of a fifty-cent piece that attaches to your trunk or roof. The kit provides plenty of length; in fact, some car owners may have to find a place to hide the extra bundle of wire, either in the trunk or under the dash. The power cord plugs into your cigarette lighter or any other 12v socket, which becomes the only visible wiring sticking out of the entire install. It's also a bit on the short side, so you may have to get into a little bit of trickery through the glove box or a heating vent depending on your vehicle. I recommend searching the web for tips that others have to share based on their installation experiences.

While the receiver itself is portable, it docks to a cradle which stays in place in your vehicle and has all of the wiring connections. This design is one of the advantages of the Sportster over the comparable Starmate Sirius receiver. The Starmate plugs all cables directly into the receiver, meaning that you have to fumble around with wires whenever you take it with you or get back into your vehicle. The Sportster on the other hand just lifts right out of the dock with no such hassle. The docking cradle that somes with this kit is capable of lots of twisting and bending, so you'll be able to find the right spot on the windshield or dash (if your dash is very smooth) to affix it with a powerful suction cup.

PERFORMANCE

The Sportster delivers good sound and has good antenna reach as well. Remember that satellite radio is digital, so it differs from traditions signals in a couple of ways. First, all of the channels sound "compressed" because that's what all satellite providers must do to get 100+ channels to fit into one signal. Music sounds comparable to existing FM, not CD quality as some erroneously expect. Talk sounds a bit tinny, almost like a phone conversation, but you get used to it quickly. Second, the antenna is line-of-sight since it needs to maintain a direct path to the satellite signal. This means that you can forget about listening to any satellite radio in parking garages, tunnels and other covered structures. I've read about problems with other receivers being unable to reliably pick up good signals in downtown driving, but the Sportster has been very solid for me.

The Sportster Replay uses a wireless FM transmitter in the dock to substitute the Sirius signal for a particular FM channel of your choosing. This is a big improvement over earlier satellite receivers that had to be hard-wired to your stereo (i.e. professionally-installed) or else connected via a mess of wires going to a cassette adapter. I've read other reviews complaining that the wireless transmitter isn't strong enough, but I've not had any such issue. As a matter of fact, the default FM frequency that the unit ships with is an actual station in my area but the Sportster mowed it down with no difficulty. Only when I turned up the classical stations could I hear any hint of interference, so I easily configured it for a frequency that's pure static in my area and it's been rock-solid and very clean sounding ever since.

USE AND FEATURES

The unit's "Replay" capability is like a very limited Tivo for radio. Once you select a channel, it begins stockpiling that content into its 30-minute memory. You can rewind if you'd like to hear a song again or if you missed something said during the news. You can pause in case you get a phone call or have something else to do, e.g. a toll booth. Once you change stations, that memory is erased and the recording begins again. Recorded content is also lost when you power down the unit. If you are interested in true time-shifting of your Sirius content, look into the pricey S50 receiver, which is basically an mp3 player that not only captures but also stores Sirius content for later listening away from your vehicle.

One simple but very useful feature is the "memo" button, which allows you to tag a particular song and store its info for jotting down later. You can store up to 20 of these song and artist combinations, so you'll know who you liked next time you're shopping for music.

The receiver has 3 banks of 10 presets each. It also allows browsing by channel category (rock vs. country vs. talk, etc.) which is nicely-rendered on the big, easy-to-read display. Contrary to what earlier reviews indicated, it is possible to adjust the brightness and/or contrast; however, blue is the only color choice (sorry, amber fans). Also, the shiny cover over the display can make it difficult to see on sunny days as it reflects everything around it. This kit comes with a remote that is actually very handy unless you have a very long reach or manage to mount the dock on your dashboard.

ACCESSORIES

The Sportster is an established model for Sirius, and as a result, there are already many handy accessories available for it. You can immediately purchase a home kit that plugs into your stereo or PC, a boombox for mobile play, or additional car docks if you plan on sharing one receiver across multiple vehicles. This line of accessories is tops among the Sirius receivers because the others are either more limited (the Starmate) or way more expensive (the S50), making the Sportster the best value for a wide range of applications.

CONCLUSION

The Sportster Replay is a dependable Sirius receiver that picks up good signal reception and then blasts it wirelessly to your existing FM tuner. Installation is a no-brainer, mainly just tucking wires under your vehicle's carpet and weatherstripping. It's easy to use with a big, bright display and remote control. There are many available accessories for it, making it a good value if you want to use it in multiple locations. It's the ideal first receiver when you jump into the satellite radio arena.

If you definitely know that you're committed to Sirius and you want true time-shifting of content in an mp3 player, get out your wallet and take a look at the S50. Or, if you absolutely must have a more stylish-looking receiver, consider the Starmate, but you're really getting a lot less convenience for a little bit of savings vs. the Sportster.

PROS

* True plug-and-play makes both installation and everyday use very easy

* Unit is simple to use thanks to the included remote and big, easy-to-read display

* Full line of available accessories make the receiver usable in a multitude of places

CONS

* Rather big and plain, it's not the most stylish-looking unit out there (hello, S50)

* Replay functionality has rather limited usefulness since unit can't be powered on-the-go

So you're thinking about paying for radio? Are you Sirius? Or are you XM? The first thing you need to do when making the decision to take on yet another monthly payment is to figure out which service to order, Sirius or XM. The 2 advantages to XM are that they have a better selection of portable satellite receivers, and it's slightly less expensive at $10 vs. $13 per month. For me, the programming is what makes the biggest difference between the two. Sirius has contracts with most of the major professional sports conglomerates, including NFL, NHL, NBA, College Sports & soon, NASCAR. XM has Baseball and probably some other boring sports like bowling. And while both companies have about 60 channels of music, only Sirius remains commercial free. It's too bad the talk, and sports stations aren't commercial free too. So lets recap: Sirius has commercial free music, tons of sports programming for only $3 additional/month. Plus, Sirius is about to come out with some pretty slick portable devices, and in January 2006, they're adding Howard Stern.

So now that you've come to your senses about which service to get, you now need to decide which receiver to buy. The problem with satellite radio is that they make you pay per device. Not pay per household. So if you want a dedicated satellite car stereo, you pay $13/month. And if you want to pipe that into your house, you have to first buy another receiver, and yes, get charged a second fee! Luckily, the fee is reduced to $6.99 for each additional unit. Being the tightwad that I am, I wanted a portable unit that would plug into my car, but could quickly come out and be plugged into a home base. That brings the useability factor way up, and the monthly bill way down. These types are called the "Plug & Play Portable Units"

At last count, there were 16 Plug & Play Portable units that are Sirius compatible. Only 2 have the "replay" feature. This feature works much like TiVO, in that it constantly records whatever you're listening to. That means you can pause live radio, rewind, or fast forward back to real time. I wasn't sure if this feature would be worth the extra $70 I needed to pony up for it, but after one short week, I can tell you that YES, IT'S WORTH IT! I piped in my first Detroit Lions game last week and while listening, my 2.3 year old son kept interrupting to drag me out to play. I simply hit the pause button and spent the next half hour with him. After he was pacified, I went back in and listened to the game. I fast forwarded through the all the commercials, and in less than 15 minutes, was caught back up to real time. This happened 2 or 3 times during the game, and I never missed a down.

During the week, the Sportster Replay sits on my desk at work. When customers walk in, or a phone call comes in; I usually prefer to pause the music rather than turn it down. This way, I can focus on the person better. This happens several times a day, so it's not unusual to be behind "real time" by 30+ minutes. The advantage to this is that when a song comes on that I don't care for, rather than turn the station, I simply skip over it! This is also a very handy feature for talk radio. Since I hate commercials, I like to pause when one comes on, I go about my work, I then unpause and skip right over the commercials with a few clicks. The nice thing about Sirius is that they tag the beginning of each song and commercial, so when you hit the forward or rewind buttons, everything is cued up the next item. Much like skipping songs on a CD, the next selection is cued up.

This model also has Game Zone and Game Alert features. So when your favorite sports teams come on, the unit will remind you. If you choose to ignore the game, you can listen to music and have the score updates pop up automatically when someone scores. I'm not sure how NBA will handle this with so much scoring, so it's probably on a timer.

The one bummer (just like TiVO) is that if you change stations, you lose your cached memory. You start over. And no, you can't record on one channel while listening to another. You also can't save the memory or download it. Also, if you were to take it from a home base to the car, it would unplug, and therefore loose the memory. Too bad this unit doesn't have a 9 volt backup battery so transporting the unit would preserve the memory.

Also, included is a "memo" feature. This is handy if you like a song, and want to save the title and artist info. Simply hit memo, and its' saved. This unit will also tell you when one of your saved memo songs is playing on another station. With the touch of a single button, you can switch!

A "Jump" button allows one to save a channel button to quick access stuff like weather or traffic reports. Unfortunately, only the largest cities in the U.S. currently offer traffic and weather reports. Sirius promises smaller cities are coming soon.

I'm not sure if other Sirius devices have any kind of tone control, but this unit does not. Which is unfortunate, since I like to run this directly to my computer speakers, I have no way of adjusting the sound quality. Not that I really need to, as the sound is terrific.

In the car at night, I find the contrast settings are not strong enough. Even with optimizing the settings, the contrast is still weak.

The unit I bought came with a car installation kit. The low profile antenna sits on the roof with a magnet. A very strong window suction cup mount is included, but I elected to drill a couple of holes in my Honda Element and make it a more permanent installation. The unit has a built in FM Transmitter, but I chose to use the Aux out feature since the Element has a standard Aux in on my model. This assures static will never be an issue. So far, I've had nothing but flawless reception. Not a single drop out. Not even on a cloudy day like today. I wish I could rave about the home kit being as good. Reception behind a glass window is not the preferred setup. In my case, it's getting the job done, but I have occasional drop outs in the office, even though the unit and antenna are sitting still.

Overall, this unit combined with the Sirius subscription is a joy to have and operate. It has completely changed (upgraded) my lifestyle. How many things can do that for $13/month? This is one of those products that comes with a bit of regret. Regret for not buying sooner than you did.

Buy Sirius SP-TK2 Sportster Replay Satellite Radio with Car Kit Now

I've had mine for a few days and after reading a lot of the reviews I felt there was a distinct difference between what I got and what many reviews say.

First, it's very stylish, it's just not small compared to some models. I chose this model because I wanted the big clear screen that was easy to see while driving. I wanted to be able to read it at a glance, not have to focus on it while driving. The blue glow isn't as intense as some other models as well, which is good given how big the screen is. It's plenty strong but it doesn't light up your whole car and act as a distraction. I do wish it had other colors available for the backlight but it's a decent shade of blue and I don't consider that a negative.

Second I feel that the sound quality is just fine. Talk radio is a bit tinny sounding, but you get used to it and it's not BAD. I think they compress that much more than the music to save space because the music quality isn't as effected. I haven't noticed any difference between a very clear radio station and the Sirius, so as far as I'm concerned the quality is just fine. This isn't a CD or max quality MP3, it might be digital but it's compressed digital. If you want perfect sound quality pop a CD into your $10,000 stereo system, if you want a huge selection of listening content this is perfect. In the car I play it through the FM transmitter that's built in. For those who were confused about the fm out, that's where you plug in the little pigtail antennae that's included. That is the FM transmitter's antennae and if you didn't use it you probably got less than stellar sound quality in your car. I use an almost entirely static station and have no issues at all, quality is better than I can hear in my car while driving ('98 Volvo in good shape). If you turn it up really loud my speakers and amp give out before the Sirius quality so that's not an issue in normal use. In terms of FM broadcast power, I'm impressed. Today I had the unit upstairs on the far side of the house from the driveway playing through the computer (no fm antennae connected on the home dock) and when I turned the car to aux to pump up my bike tires I was amazed to hear the sirius clear and solid. I had to do a double check that the head unit was still on the blank station. So, if you can't get a clean signal in your car you're on the wrong station, this puppy puts out a very strong signal.

I didn't have much trouble getting the home antennae setup, nor the car, but positioning is an issue for the home one. You might need the cord extenders or even a 3rd part model. After some playing around I have 3 bars almost constantly though, despite a less than ideal location. In the car I get a full strength signal almost all the time and have yet to see less than two bars. I've got it mounted just above the passenger side door. I have a feeling that folks who have issues with the car reception are trying to hide it by mounting it under the hood or something, or maybe the hardware's changed.

For the XM/Sirius debate I feel it just comes down to your taste in music. I used the free online listening trials to get a feel for the music playlists and the talk shows available and decided Sirius suited me better. Your mileage may very. I really liked some of the XM radios and feel they have a better variety available. Their tendancy to have multiple backlight colors is nice, though the screen clarity was often less than wonderful, particularly while it was scrolling.

I love mine, and am very happy I spent the money. The Sportster Replay isn't the smallest or cheapest but it's a quality piece of equipment that combines easy use, easy visibility and plenty of features and options. It's part of the sportster line, which sirius pushes for accessories like the boomboxes so you aren't limited in the future. My advice is to check out the various radios in stores and get a feel for the hardware while you check out the online listening trials to decide which company is for you.

We are already hooked on SIRIUS, as we had a unit installed in my wife's car in mid 2004.

I bought this unit for me for the following reasons:

1. no hard wiring necessary just plug into lighter

2. you do not need to permanently mount the docking base onto your dash or console just stick to windshield with provided suction cup gadget

3. no need to mount the antenna on the roof, which eliminates dealing with fishing wires around the headliner, etc. the antenna works fairly well just laying on the dash

4. all the above give me the opportunity to move the unit between the 2 vehicles I drive, without having to invest in any extra docking stations

5. when you already have a SIRIUS account, the subscription cost for additional units, is discounted to only $7 per month

6. there is currently a $50 rebate, bringing the net cost down to only $99

I was so pleased with my radio, I bought another one for our 20 year old son. He is in the USMC and often travels from NC to PA. He also loves this new toy.

only downsides:

1. antenna may slide around on dash when making sharp turns (our son cured this with velcro)

2. being on top of dash & attached to windshield, may bother some folks

3. loses reception more often than our original (which has a permanently mounted antenna on the roof). In my opinion, the flexibility and lack of installation costs makes up for this.

Want Sirius SP-TK2 Sportster Replay Satellite Radio with Car Kit Discount?

Have been using this radio for 5 months and have been generally satisfied with all the important stuff: sound quality, functionality, and ease of installation. However, you'll find the suction cupped docking station laying on your dash about once a week. This can't be good for the wiring/connections on the back of the unit. I, too, have had issues with poor reception due to a loose connection on the back of the docking station. Had to put a piece of tape on the back to hold the connector in place. Another issue, if you care about how the radio looks, is that after only 5 months of use, seven of the ten lights behind the tuning buttons have burned out. At night it makes the radio look like a big gap-toothed grin.

All in all, a decent value at the rebated/discounted price of $99..but expect some idiosyncrasies like the ones described above.

Samsung Captivate i897 Combo Rapid Car Charger + Home Wall Charger + USB Data Charge Sync Cable for Samsung Captivate i897I'm sure this bundle works for other phones but it's useless for the Samsung Captivate the data cable (both the original and the one they sent as a replacement) acted like a dead cable with nothing happening when I plugged it in. (Got a diff cable that works fine). The wall charger is underpowered and takes forever to charge the phone compared to the the original charger...haven't tried the car charger yet but I'm holding out hope.

The wall charger itself was broken when I took it out of the box. The car charger did not fit my phone. Definitely would not recommend this to anyone

Data cable that came was not the one shown in picture. It is a Y-connector with two mini usb connectors. Neither of them work for data sync with Samsung Kies. Only good for charging.

Motorola MB810 Droid X Car Charger

Motorola MB810 Droid X Car ChargerThe best car charger for the droid x, I drive different cars every day, as part of the business I'm in and chances are the "lighter outlets" aren't always in the best of shape, and my co-workers are always giggling and trying to get a connection with there GPS and phone chargers. As for The Motorola MB810, I've "never" had to as much as turn it the slightest, all you have to do is plug it in and it works, after 2 weeks and 20+ outlets it is the Best for the Money and Droid X hands down.

It has the motorola brand on the product, and works just fine with my Droid X.

A genuine Motorola item that works perfectly. The blue light that shines from the round Motorola logo area on the plug had previous reviews of being too bright but that does not seem to be the case It's a cool effect. I'm very happy with this purchase and would recommend it to others.

USB Sync & Desktop Cradle Charger (with extra battery slot) for HTC Inspire 4G

USB Sync & Desktop Cradle Charger for HTC Inspire 4GThis is the second docking charger Ive purchased. The first was a diffrent modal but the same concept. It didnt charge the second battery but held the phone perfectly. With this one, it charges the second battery but I dont like the way the phone is stored. Its real lose in the charger and is hard to put on and take off. It feels like youre going to break the charging connector. So if they could put the 1st chargers phone cradle and the seconds backup battery charger together, it would be perfect. Im going to give this a 3 star simply because its average.

Pico 6382pt 6awg 50a Contacthsg Batt C

Pico 6382pt 6awg 50a Contacthsg Batt CThis is a good 6AWG connector for battery cables. It would not be a good connector for wet environments as the back is open. But you could wrap it up in tape. It was the only connector I could find for the large 6 awg wires.

I got this to use with my trailer winch. This is a single connector, not a pair. It fit good with the old connector that was already on my truck. I am satisfied with it and would do the same purchase again.

This is intended for you to solder the cable into the metal tabs but you could probably crimp it instead if you absolutely have to. Quality is good I don't think any other brands would be better. After the first season it is still working good.

I think the shipping (and handling) was rather high ($1 more than the part cost) but I did know this up front and even with the shipping cost it was still the cheapest option I found to get a single connector. It took about 8 days to receive it on the east coast it is mailed via USPS from CA I think.

Jump-N-Carry JNC1224 3400/1700 Peak Amp 12/24V Jump Starter

Jump-N-Carry JNC1224 3400/1700 Peak Amp 12/24V Jump StarterIt's a portable nuclear power plant in a box! I love it. With its built in charger ... I have confidence that it's ready to go. In addition to its obvious application I use it for camping, ham radio and launching model rockets. I just wish mine came with protective caps to cover the alligator clips it scares me to have even a little bit of copper showing on such a powerful device. I put a small strip of electrical tape over each of the clips that gives me piece of mind.

Recommend this highly. This has the highest boosting power of any hand-held, consumer charger.

Easy to use, simple AND Made In USA!

I bought the 12/24 jump and carry in 2005. I am a heavy equipment mechanic so the 24v has come in handy so many times to numerous to list. I have powered large inverters to power grinders and drills of of this thing. Pretty much everything you buy now if you don't treat it with velvet gloves its junk in a week. THIS PRODUCT IS NOT ONE OF THEM! I have not taken care of this thing at all and every year I expect the worst; It'll finally give up the ghost. Its been 7 years now and this year after sitting flat all winter inside the toolbox of my seldom used pickup I plugged it in last week and today I used it to start my diesel trencher and it worked as good as the day I bought it. The only negtive I can thing of is the way the handle that you pull out to switch voltage is orientated to the body. If the jumpstart gets banged around a lot the handle will break off. The unit still functions fine it just mainly cosmetic. Other than that....ya....5 stars!!!

We gave it the test. Someone had left the key on the on position on a De icier truck. These trucks are use for deicing planes. They have to be up and ready in the before snow rolls in. We can't be tieing up another truck for a dead truck.

We usually have to hook another truck to it and let it charge up for an hour. Or drag out the charger and electric cord which is very heavy. 150 ft cord.

Brought out the Jump and Carry, switch the plug to 24 volts. It kick over with no problem.

Did do some read up on it before buying. It does have a built in protection not to over charge the unit.

Con: manual say it has leds on it for charging. None on there so we don't know when its done charging.

Mini USB Car charger for TomTom GO 950 LIVE, GO LIVE 820 & Start 2 By DURAGADGET
  • Charge in car through cigarette lighter adapter, Output: DC 5 volt up to 1000mA
  • LED Indicator shows charging status device
  • Charge and use your device at the same time
  • Will not overcharge your device (reverse circuit protection)
  • Input: DC 12V~24V FOR CARS AND LORRIES

This is a generic mini USB charger and not one specifically compatible with the TomTom. The difference is that the TomTom charger has a right angle plug and this one has a generic straight plug. It does work but cable management is more difficult because of the lack of the right angle plug and the fact the wire is slightly short than the original.

Cobra CPI 2575 2500 Watt 12 Volt DC to 120 Volt AC Power Inverter

Cobra CPI 2575 2500 Watt 12 Volt DC to 120 Volt AC Power Inverter
  • 2500 W Continuous Power Handling
  • 5v USB output
  • 3Grounded AC Receptacles
  • Thermal Shutdown and Reverse Polarity Protection
  • LED volt/watt meter and remoter on/ off capable

Beware of all those talking about failures of the inverter one guy says that he returned his, because two 70Ah batteries couldn't power it to run a 1/2 horsepower motor.

Well...guys, there are a few things you need to know about inverters before buying a big one...which does NOT directly substitute for a generator! The little ones are WAY DIFFERENT than the big ones.

First off, at 2500-watts, you are pulling 200+ amps across the wire...so, unless you are hard-wired with some 4/0 solid-strand wire, you really need to go with DOUBLE 4-AWG strand wires...basically, buy TWO sets of 4-AWG jumper cables, and after you cut the ends off both, then run double-strand (both red AND black) of a complete set to EACH POST of the inverter...yes guys, that's a LOT of wire...and due to heat, I wouldn't run that more than 5-6 feet!

Now...batteries...let's laugh at the guy trying to get 1600 watts of batteries to run a 2500 watt inverter...and consider what you REALLY NEED...for deep cycle batteries rated on the 20-Ah system, and rated at, say 500-Amps, then buy 6 of these and wire them in PARALLEL circuit to power the inverter. Yep...$600 in deep cycle batteries! Now, you have enough batteries to power the inverter for 2-6 hours, depending on loading, before you will need to recharge your 6-battery bank. Plan on a charger that can throw 50-100 amps into the charge...so your little $50 Schumacher charger is NOT going to charge this battery bank overnight! Try more like a $300 charger to charge them in 12-hours...or, if you want solar, good...you need to throw about 70-amps of charge into these for 12-hours solid...so that is $300-$500 in solar panels. Also note...batteries get weak after enough cycles...so pay attention to your charge circuit...and a charging circuit MINDER isn't a bad idea, either!

How do I know this? Because these are all the big troubles encountered when I was a Director of Engineering for an RV Manufacturer...and when you get over 1500-Watts of inverter involved...you start playing by a whole new set of rules! It is MUCH CHEAPER to go with a 3000-watt generator, than to even CONSIDER getting a 2500-watt inverter.

This is a good inverter...but buying one this big and not knowing how to care for and maintain it, is like buying a big chemistry set and giving it without supervision to your mischievous 12-year old...it is NOT a good idea.

Buy Cobra CPI 2575 2500 Watt 12 Volt DC to 120 Volt AC Power Inverter Now

To all the people who have issues in getting full or high wattage out of this or any other unit: you MUST have thick (#4) and short (3-4ft) 12v cables to your battery bank. Otherwise the inverter will be starved for current and cause the "low voltage protection" to kick in. Make sure your battery/ bank are up to the task as well.

This unit works great for me. I tested it with combination's of differing equipment (electric chainsaw, power saw, A/C unit, refrigerator, electric heating unit). No problems for me. Do your homework before giving out 1 star reviews people...

We have alot of experience with inverters, and this inverter is just average. It does produce quite a bit of power, but we seem unable to run both of our energy efficient freezers simulatneously (about 1.7 amps draw each freezer --200watts). Also, it does not come with cables to attach it to the batteries, so expect to buy those too. Lastly, and most importantly is the noise. The inverter cooling fan starts up at even the smallest load, and it is loud. As more load is applied the cooling fan ramps up louder and louder. It is not so loud as to hurt your ears, but it is loud enough to be annoying and to heard throughout whatever room it is in, so I recommend you buy the remote start if you choose to buy this unit. Locate it in a closet or shed so you don't have to listen to it.

We have had other inverters that cost much less, but of course only 1200 Watts of power, that had NONE of the shortcomings of this one (our old 1200 Watt model simultaneously ran both freezers, T.V. VCR, DVD player, speakers, and lights; it came with a connector cable, and its fan was quiet and only came on during high loads). The reason we purchased this one is because all the previous inverters, although quiet and efficient, eventually died, and we hoped that this one could handle the peak loads better.

9 April 2009: Just a brief update. At this point in time the inverter is useless, the cooling fans quit working so I am hesitant to use if for fear of a fire (that happened with another inverter several years ago). To be fair, we used that inverter nearly every day at times for up to 12 hours straight. But it never did meet our expectations, and now we are looking for replacement.

I purchased this for my semi-truck. The inverter requires 2 sets of 4 awg wire. I soldered my ends first and used heavy duty ends for the battery contacts. The cables are 3'9" long.(Cobra said no more than 4') I tried to overload this inverter with a 6hp shop-vac and could not. The remote for me is a must but the remote is another story. If you are looking for an inverter that will power just about anything, I highly recommend this one. The only reason I did not give it five stars is that the length of the power cables limits where the inverter can be placed. All other aspects of this inverter are very impressive. As a side note, I use this inverter for a microwave in my truck,(among other things)and the modified sine wave is no problem at all.

i have recently purchased the inverter 2575 by cobra. i installed it into my car and it runds great. i found the inverter to be smaller than expected and was able to install it into the dash of my car.

The instructions for the inverter are clear and precise, however i am still unsure it i can run it with the engine on. I also used the cables that were recommended 4000W for around $30.00 it was by far the cheapest around. Be careful when installing the inverter, i took almost the entire 10feet to get from the battery to the dash via the left hand front guard.

from an earlier "feedback" they said the inverter made quite abit of noise, i mesured it at around 55Db from one foot. which isn't all that loud but if you were running a fridge all the time and the inverter was close to you it would get annoying. I use it for a 800W microwave, it has plenty of power left o could run a tv and Wii system at the same time.

I recommend it for the price ($200.00)i felt it was a bargin, and they have a support phone number if you get stuck. having it for my ipod is also great.

Peak PKC0AN 700 Amp Jump Starter

Peak PKC0AN 700 Amp Jump StarterThis is definately a heavy duty unit all around. No wimpy cables, clamps or switches here. I expect to get good use from this unit for many years. It is great to add to my emergency road & vacation gear, so often handy in these New England winters. Especially nice are the extra long cables that allow maximum applications with ease. It would have been thoughtful to have included a ball/mattress inflator needle as one fits on the compressor connection perfectly. I had a spare & added it. The tire inflator screws onto the tire stem so no match-up problems are encountered. This definately is not a wanna-be, its a real tool & it could save your life (or at least possible frostbite).

I was excited! Got my battery charger in about five (5) days; I plugged in the unit, according to the instruction manual, to charge-up for 72 hours. You can't imagine my disappointment after waiting so long only to find-out that the units' "charged" light wouldn't light up. So now I'm stuck with this thing and have to initiate a fix for this thing. What compicates this process is that it's a. heavy b. hazardous material protcol c. by the time I get any re-solution on this it will be Spring! Should have gone to Sears!! Can't blame Amazon really...just the manufacter.

Bought this unit 13 months ago. Followed the initial charging instructions exactly, and recharged periodically as directed in the manual. Used the unit twice, once to start my car and the other time to add some air to my tires. After only 13 months the unit won't hold a charge. It came with only a 90 day warranty so it's going in the trash. Stay away from this charger.

I purchased this unit 3 months ago. From day 1, the door that holds the air hose will not stay closed which is annoying, but not a deal-breaker. Next, when charging, the 12V charger melted inside the unit which I had to remove with needle nose pliers. The battery also dies quickly just sitting in the back of my trunk and the alarm is annoying if you're driving on the highway with nowhere to pull over every couple of weeks.

Finally, I tried to use the unit for it's intended purpose, jump starting a car with a dead battery. The unit was completely charged, connected and switched on, cranked the ignition and not even a peep. Checked the unit again and it was dead.

Amazon won't let you return the unit, so we'll see if Peak will send a replacement unit and if there will be a charge.

For the price of this unit, it should be much better made. Knowing what I do now, I would have purchased a different product.

I bought one of these in april 2011.

I tryed to use it about 6 months ago to start my diesel truck. It would not do it, I figured that was because the truck takes 2 batteries to start it.

I tried to start a 2004 Grand Pre yesterday with this and it would not work well enough to start the car. I called AAA and they came out with their unit ( slightly smaller ) and thiers had no problem starting the car. I had all but one of the battery charge indicator lights lite. When I tried it on the truck it was freshly / fully charged.

I will have it tested but for now I fell it is NOT RELIABLE.

USB + Car + Wall Charger set for iPod, Nano, Touch, iPhone, Video, Classic

USB + Car + Wall Charger set for iPod, Nano, Touch, iPhone, Video, ClassicI haven't tried the car-charger piece yet, as I have another iPod charger that I leave in the car. I purchased this item so that I could have a plug-in charger available whenever I needed one, instead of having to keep my iPod at my computer to charge with the sync cable. I repeatedly get a "Charging is not supported with this accessory" warning while my iPod Touch 3G is plugged in, and the battery indicator on the iPod doesn't register that it's being charged. However, the percentage of battery left does go up, which means it IS being charged. The biggest issue I have with this item is that the charge is unbearably slow. I left my iPod plugged in overnight and didn't get a full charge (which only takes about 2 hours with the original sync/charge cable from Apple) -I don't know whether this is an inherent limitation of the charger itself or the fact that it doesn't sit firmly in electrical outlets (and thus may only be receiving intermittent current). Also, the cable itself is pretty short, so it's not very useful if you want to charge your device while using it ... unless you want to lay on the floor next to the outlet. :D

I was very pleased with the purchuse and could not believe the great deal I got. The product was worth alot more than the what I paid for it. The reviews I read led me to buy this product, will recommend to everyone I know.

Dexim DCA275B Mini Car Charger and Visible G Cable (Black/Blue)

Dexim DCA275B Mini Car Charger and Visible G CableIt's awesome.. for a couple of weeks (one lasted almost a month). Then it dies. Not just the lights.. but none would even charge. I purchased two.. and then got two replacements.. so 4 out of 4.. lemons. The design is fabulous and fun, the actual product.. sucs :(

So my cable worked for 3 weeks and then it sporatically worked for 1 week, now it wont charge either my wife's or my iPhone.

So i contact Dexim to ask them what they want to do.

They contact me saying they are going to send me a UPS shipping label via email to print off and return the damaged unit.

I never received the mail, i check my junk mail and my spam box on my email account. I asked the customer service rep to send it to an alternative email address, same thing.

I believe they never sent the email and they have no intention of offering me a replacement cable.

So Dexim's response is "f-you" and buy another one.

Ive learned my lesson, I'll NEVER buy a Dexim product ever again, complete crap product, and worse customer service.

Buyers be warned.
