INSTEN Micro-5 Pin Retractable Car Charger, Black

INSTEN Micro-5 Pin Retractable Car Charger, BlackAll car adapter cords should be retractable like this one. The cord itself is like a thin ribbon. The plug has a design flaw in that the endcap that holds the fuse and pin in has only one thread and does not fit tightly. The end came off and the spring, fuse, and pin shot out in the car. Luckily I found all the pieces and was able to put it back together using model glue to keep the end on for good.

Premium Rapid Car Charger (with IC CHIP) for Sony Ericsson Z750, W580 / S500, W200, W300 / Z530, K7

Premium Rapid Car Charger for Sony Ericsson Z750, W580 / S500, W200, W300 / Z530, K750 / W800 / D750 / W700After using some of the "fancier" ones, and having them bit the dust, I tried this more simple one. By more simple, it has no "pass throughs" for other components, flashlights, etc. And as a result, it only has two contact prongs, like the OEM home charger. It has worked fine so far, knock on wood! On the others, I always had to jiggle the plug around until it would make proper contact.

MorningStar TriStar TS-60 Amp Solar Battery Charge Controller

MorningStar TriStar TS-60 Amp Solar Battery Charge Controller
  • Optional Full function tri-color LED system status display
  • Operational temperature range: -40?C, +60?C
  • Rated to 60A at 48 Vdc, will handle solar arrays up to 4kW
  • Optional RS-232 communication connection
  • Fully Adjustable - switch selectable setpoints

I have about 550 watts of PV power & I had been using an old-style charge controller for the batteries. It did not have PWM or anything fancy, just a relay that would open at a certain voltage. The mornigstar is obviously a HUGE step up and it was worth every penny. Have stretched another year out of my batteries which I didn't think was possible the way they were behaving before. I just bought the remote temp sensor accesory (from solarpenny.com) and got it hooked up just before it got really cold out (my batteries are in steel boxes outside) They are fully charged & ready to go when I get home from work. I bought the 60amp model and plan to add a couple more panels in the future when I can afford. Great unit, good installation instructons and thorough technical specs included to help build a reliable system.

I purchased this charge controller about 5 months ago and it has worked well. I needed to study the manual but found it worth while and have been able to tweek the controller witch in cheaper controllers you do not have always the options that are available with this unit. Works great and am happy with this product.

MorningStar makes fine products. This is not an MPPT unit, nor is it the MPPT price. If you can afford an MPPT, go with it, otherwise this will work very well.

ReadySet 15-watt Solar Power System

ReadySet 15-watt Solar Power SystemFirst things first, I'm a gadget geek and have been looking for a renewable charging solution for my gadgets including my smartphones, tablets, cameras, and laptops. Up until this point, these type of off the grid solutions costed in the thousands if you wanted a quality kit and powerful enough solar panel.

I originally purchased my ReadySet by being a Kickstarter backer last year and in turn received my unit ahead of the public release. I'm going to repost a review I did on a blog site I post at since it makes no sense in rewriting the same review. :)

----------------------------

Back around July 13th, I stumbled upon a very interesting Kickstarter project by Fenix International, the ReadySet Solar Kit. The purpose behind this project was to develop a quick, easy, and durable charging solution. Such a kit would be extremely useful during natural disasters when power is limited. I donated and helped fund the project; and thus, I have received early access to the kit.

Being a tech geek, having an off-the-grid charging solution has been my holy grail. Solar technology up until the last 2 years was promising but lacking in efficiency rates. However, progress recently in solar cell technology has helped advance solar development tremendously in the portable realm and has sparked the recent rise of the social funded projects. Kickstarter is helping to crowdfund several of these projects.

Contents, Packaging, and Build Quality

I donated $225 for the project and therefore received the standard kit. My box contained the following items:

ReadySet Intelligent Battery (12V, 9000mAh battery)

15-watt Solar Panel

AC Electric Wall Charger (USA plug)

3-watt High Efficiency LED Light

USB Universal Clip Charger

User Manual

The packaging is excellent and even sported a thoughtful handle. Everything is packaged securely. The solar panel has a peak rate of 15w. I have yet to fully test it since it has been cloudy this whole week. I will post an update to this when I get some sunny days. The ReadySet team says it takes 8-10 hours in direct sunlight which seems very acceptable. The panel is very solid feeling and a bit heavier than I expected. It has two power leads that easily connect to the main ReadySet battery unit.

The ReadySet charging unit feels durable. It has 2 x 12 volt front car charging slots, 2 usb ports, several led lights, and a single button. The underside area has two leads that let you connect your AC charger which allows full traditional on-the-grid charging in 4-6 hours. Additionally, there is a Velo bike kit available that allows you to use a bike to recharge the unit's battery as well.

Recharge Methods:

1. On-the-grid via an AC Adapter

2. Solar panel (included or other types)

3. Velo bike recharge kit (not yet released but coming soon!)

The device is not fancy, but I believe that is the way it should be. The device is no way unattractive, and all items feel solid and sturdy. The solar panel can be exposed to rain and water but should be stored in a dry area. The ReadySet unit itself appears to be rugged but should not be put in direct water or wet areas.

Charging

The ReadySet states that once charged it can charge an iPhone about 10 times. For my first test I charged an iPhone 4 from dead to 100%, and I was able to charge my Dell XT Laptop from dead to 50% before I depleted all the juice. I used a portable AC inverter to charge my laptop so that too would be drawing power. Getting a fully powered mobile phone and half charged computer from a solar charging system seems exceptional to me.

There is also an included LED light bulb that plugs in and allows you use the ReadySet for 10 hours worth of light.

Conclusions

Having the three various charging methods make this kit powerfully useful. For example, I plan to use this kit next summer while camping to keep my mobile devices and radio powered. It will be an essential component of my emergency stores.

Availability is still limited to early Kickstarter backers; however, availability should open up within the next few months to the public. Once it does, I believe this project will be very successful. If you have ever thought about having an off-the-grid charger or just an emergency portable charger, this is a great and versatile kit.

I strongly recommend it!!

I just returned from a week long camping trip in Joshua Tree and finally used my ReadySet. It was awesome! Super easy to set up and use, which is important for someone who doesn't like to read directions. I charged my camera and phone batteries, used the light (incl) at the campsite and in tent. So rad. So simple. So efficient. Feels good. I need to get some attachments to accommodate other devices, and then I'll be set to go off the grid for good. :) Or atleast while I'm off exploring the wilderness. My little orange ReadySet will now accompany me on every camping trip. Plus, now that I now how easy it is to use, I plan to use it as my main charging station when I'm at home. Or maybe I'll use it to light the storage space. Hmmm, decisions, decisions...

Buy ReadySet 15-watt Solar Power System Now

I received a ReadySet a few weeks ago and it's awesome. Now I can use my laptop and other mobile devices for longer periods of time when I go camping or whenever else I'm off the grid. At the same time, it's currently providing renewable energy in many parts of Africa and helping small businesses grow. A++!

I live in NJ, and recently we've been losing power a lot. Rather than spend a fortune on a generator, I picked up a ReadySet for the important stuffkeeping our cell phones, hotspot, and iPad charged, and a light for the bathroom. Most often the outages last a day or so, but when they go for more than a week, it's great to have the solar panel to keep the battery topped off.

I also keep the USB battery charger in my backpack at all times for charging my camera and phone batteries on the road without lugging around a bunch of extra chargers.

For a fraction of the cost of a generator (and without the maintenance or hassle of dealing with gas cans) I can maintain my digital life, and more importantly my marriage (by not missing the toilet in the pitch black) when the power goes out. And it's "green" too!

Want ReadySet 15-watt Solar Power System Discount?

I love my ReadySet device. Most devices I've tried in the past don't provide enough juice, are too big to easily move around, or are only good for lighting. With the ReadySet, I can plug in anything with a USB charger or 12V Car Charger. I can use it to power my cell phone, tablet, camera battery, and even my Netbook. And I can do this all with a clean conscious, knowing that I'm using green power and supporting sustainable, economic development in Africa. It's a fantastic product, and I would recommend it to anyone.

I had read the reviews for this product and noticed that the company didn't send the car charger as was listed in the description, but I thought that since it was still listed the same way, maybe they would be better. They weren't. I didn't get my car charger, and I emailed them a couple of days after I received the docking station. I never heard back from them, and a few weeks later I received an email from the company asking me for feedback rather than posting it here. I replied to that email, and as of today I haven't heard anything back. I can't believe that after this many responses that Amazon still allows this company to sell from their site. I will definitely pay more attention the the reviews in the future and take them to heart.

My husband does use the docking station and it's great.

I enjoy my Droid and wanted another docking station for work. Among many I chose this one because it was advertised as bundled with a car charger. I received the docking station in good order, but there was NO car charger. When I requested the charger be sent because it was omitted eforcity said I could return the dock for a refund but they do not offer the car charger. I quote,

"We apologize for the inconvenience. The listing is incorrect, as it does not include the car charger. So, please return the item with the label we sent for a refund."

Therefore, I am disappointed that the offer was not honored. jimjam

The docking station works great but the car charger was never delivered. I have no complaints about the docking station or the delivery time just that the car charger was never provided. Is there any way I can follow up regarding this?

Want Motorola Multimedia Docking Station with Car Charger for Motorola Droid Discount?

I bought through Eforcity and there was no car charger. The box for the dock was fairly beat up and opened but seems to include everything in good condition.

To not include everything as described is inexcusable.

Update: I got a full refund and I got to keep the dock. Very satisfied!

Also I really love the dock. It serves as an anchor for the USB cable and it's easier to set my phone in the dock than to plug in the cable so I end up charging it more. I just wish the Droid was designed in such a way that I could have a headphone jack built into the dock.

Car Charger for Samsung Captivate

Car Charger for Samsung CaptivateThe charger works but doesn't stay secure in the phone port. If you hit a bump or the phone shifts, the plug comes out of the phone.

This car charger is great. Up until now I've always just had a wall charger which was fine, but now I have a smartfone, which has to be charged more than once a day, so I had to take the charger with me everywhere. The problem? I was always leaving it somewhere and then I'd have a dead fone until I could get the charger back. But having a car charger is soooo convenient because (obviously) I leave it in the car all the time so now I don't have to take my wall charger with me anymore, and the car charger is always there no matter where I go!!

2nd Generation Audio FM Transmitter and Car Vehicle Charger for the Samsung Galaxy S II - Uses Goma

2nd Generation Audio FM Transmitter and Car Vehicle Charger for the Samsung Galaxy S II - Uses Gomadic TipExchange Technology
  • Full FM frequency spectrum is available and is user selectable in 0.1MHz increments from 88.1 to 107.9 MHz. Advanced Digital PLL sound coding maintains stable and high quality sound.
  • Transmitters emit a powerful FM signal that is the maximum allowed by FCC regulation. Advanced signal isolation provides crystal clear sound quality.
  • Smart technology circuit architecture provides precision voltage and resistor regulation specific to the Samsung Galaxy S II. Protects the internal battery longevity by modulating the charge in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Non-coiled cable design allows for easy routing around your vehicle trim for a more professional look. Durable construction is built to last.
  • Generous LED screen clearly displays current frequency setting. Transmitter frequency continues to be locked in even when vehicle power is cut.

This product has been useful for my Galaxy S2. I get to play my music in my car and charge my phone. I don't have any issues with the sound of the music. However, you cannot charge your phone and listen to your music without a high pitch tone occurring that only gets louder if you try and turn the music up. Although, you can be charging one phone while listening to music from a different phone, which works for my family since we all have Samsung phones that fit to the adapter; there is only an issue when you are trying to charge and listen to music from the same phone. Things I would like to see improved is a station scan for available stations; you have to go through each station individually, which is okay when I'm in my local area but not when I am traveling and don't know the stations. Other than that, I am happy with my purchase.

But you can't charge your phone and transmit you music at the same time. Cause it'll interfere with the signal. also I had this blow my radio fuse multiple times. I replaced this item with Sprint Micro-USB vehicle power charger PLUS, I lost the transmitter feature with that plug, but I didn't blow anymore fuses. Over all this isn't worth any of your money.

Product works awesome. Actually enhanced sound quality in my car. I would highly recommend this device. It's a great value.

Want 2nd Generation Audio FM Transmitter and Car Vehicle Charger for the Samsung Galaxy S II - Uses Goma Discount?

I drive an old car and I commute a long distance to work so I listen to a LOT of audiobooks on first an iPod and now a galaxy 2S. I have become a connoisseur of transmitters of all sorts. This is not a good one. The audio was terrible, very scratchy and distorted. If I held it a certain way it wasn't too bad but that is completely not workable for a car that bumps down the road. I don't want to have an accident from messing with my transmitter. I've had really cheap $5 models that were more clear. Customer service tried very hard to keep me from returning it but finally relented. That bothered me also. That sort of tactic makes me think their business model is based on selling cheap stuff that people won't bother to return and demand refunds. After I sent this one back I bought the GOgroove FlexSMART X2 ADVANCED Wireless In-Car Bluetooth FM Transmitter which was far superior and worth the extra cost. I bought another for my husband.

Kenwood DNX5120 6.1-Inch-Wide Double-DIN In-Dash Navigation with USB/iPod Direct Control/DVD Receiv

Kenwood DNX5120 6.1-Inch-Wide Double-DIN In-Dash Navigation with USB/iPod Direct Control/DVD Receiver
  • Garmin navigation system, radio, DVD-R/RW, DVD+R/RW, CD, CD-R/RW, MP3/WMA/AAC, MPEG1/MPEG2, iPod, USB, HD/SAT radio-ready, Bluetooth-ready receiver
  • 4 x 50 Watts maximum power with two 2V preamp outputs
  • 6.1-inch TFT LCD touchscreen display with 480 x 234 pixel resolution
  • Includes direct iPod connection, USB music streaming, front panel A/V input; add Kenwood adapters for SAT/HD Radio and Bluetooth
  • One-year limited warranty

I also have this radio and think its great.. very easy to use and looks awesome.. Martins wrote in his review "and all the streets are pre-programmed, any updates come straight from Garmin via satellite, " thats NOT true. Software updates need to be downloaded from Garmins website and burned to a CD and copied over. Map updates are usually done yearly and must be purchased (for $140) from Garmin (or another authorized re-seller) they are NOT free and are NOT sent straight from a satellite.

It doesn't change how good this radio is, but I just wanted to make sure no one was basing their purchase on an incorrect statement.

Buy Kenwood DNX5120 6.1-Inch-Wide Double-DIN In-Dash Navigation with USB/iPod Direct Control/DVD Receiv Now

The main advantages of this unit over similar units are (i) nav data not DVD-based or hard-disk-based, everything is on flash memory; (ii) name-brand nav (Garmin) and name-brand bluetooth add-on (Parrot), unlike off-brand hardware/firmware on other competing units; (iii) no retractable screen so fewer moving parts to fail.

Basically this is a very good and useful unit. The nav is well-designed and works well. I do have some complaints:

(a) Even though everything is in flash memory, startup is slow. You will be halfway down the block before the nav is ready, and two blocks away before the bluetooth unit has paired with your phone. I have been told that competing units are even slower, so maybe this is an improvement, but technology still has a ways to go. Certainly no reason for pairing to take this long, my old radio paired almost instantly.

(b) Awful interface (except the Garmin part, which is fine):

--The front panel buttons are completely non-intuitive; try figuring out how to turn the whole thing off and on, or how to turn off the radio playing in the background when using the nav. You can get used to it, but it's inelegant to say the least, and if you lend your car to someone, they'll never figure it out.

--The onscreen menus are a complete jumble, and the manual is incomprehensible. (I consider myself to be technically savvy; I installed the system myself.)

--The mp3 menu is awful, for example you can see tracks sorted by album or artist, but you just have to know how to do it because it is far from obvious. You need to push a button mysteriously marked PLIST. You have to do it again each time you start the car.

--The Bluetooth interface is poorly designed, for example you can choose a number by voice commands, but you can't actually voice dial...you have to look at the screen and touch the 'dial' button to complete the dialing process.

(c) If disconnected from the battery, all the settings are lost, and this can cause more problems than just loss of radio presets. I realize that after installation the unit shouldn't normally lose power, but if you take it in for service and they disconnect and reconnect the battery, the backup camera (add-on) stops working!

I thought they cut the cable somehow, but actually the default setting of the Kenwood DNX5120 is to ignore the backup voltage signal. You have to go in and change the setting back. (There is a way to save the settings in nonvolatile memory and restore them, but this has to be done manually every time...why not save all settings in flash memory automatically?)

Kenwood DNX5120

I June 5, 2008, I purchased and had Platinum Audio in Corona, California install my DNX5120. I have had Sony, Alpine, and Kenwood stereos prior and have experimented with iPod connections to these stereos. The stereo's killed two of my iPods. The DNX5120 broke all the rules and really exceeded my expectations as far as the iPod interface. The integration is clean, easy to understand, and faster to use than the iPod itself. Here is an example. I have countless artists on my iPod. Using the scroll wheel it take time to scroll through the artist until letters come up and to be honest with you, it takes me a least two tries to land on the right letter. Using the DNX5120, I can scroll down by multiple artist and even click on slide bar to go half the way down my list or all the way down. All this at the speed of just pressing button and not waiting for the iPod or the stereo to catch up.

The navigation is dummy proof. I have used the BMW, Toyota, Magellan, Tom Tom, and Honda navigation and the DNX5120 blows them out of the water. It does not get any easier than this. I have read that it takes a long time to start up. I don't see that problem. Once I start my vehicle, the Kenwood screen appears for about 5 seconds and I am off to the races. After all, it is not good for the vehicle if you start and immediately drive.

I don't have any complaints about the stereo. Here are some things I really like;

* Knob for volume. It feel sturdy and I like touching the screen less than I have too

* Clean font, easy to read

* Quick/easy/instant access from user interface to navigation and back

* Easy to understand hierarchy of menu

* Garmin Nav. is easy to use and easy to upgrade

* No need for second DVD box for nav.

* Excellent GPS signal quality

* Ability to watch iPod movies on screen

* USB connection...I like putting my on photo as a background

The bottom line is the shop did an outstanding job the installation and the DNX5120 works better than what I had expected. When you put this stereo in perspective, it is combining a tuner, a DVD player, an audio iPod, a video ipod, XM, and CD/MP3 player together into one unit with none to little glitches. And if you are an Apple fan like myself, this works perfectly with the iPod.

That is my two cents and five out of five stars......

Want Kenwood DNX5120 6.1-Inch-Wide Double-DIN In-Dash Navigation with USB/iPod Direct Control/DVD Receiv Discount?

I came from a Pioneer D3. This unit does some things better and some not. The D3 is also an older unit. Obviously the Garmin Navigation is the way to go. They make the best portable units, same applies here. The audio/video UI is not the greatest I'll admit that. I liked the D3 better. That being said the 5120 has a better Sirius interface and I believe HD Radio is too. It can show much more info at a time instead of hitting buttons to scroll through. That and the flash based navigation is what made me change. Having to put in a disc for navigation is just plain silly. Installation for add-ons was also easier with the 5120. No power required for the bluetooth or satellite boxes. Just plug in the communication cable, pretty simple. I'd have no problems recommending this to a friend. It does everything good enough.

This is a great unit. Overally I am quite happy. I have the KCA-BT200, the GSM10 traffic receiver, the connection cable for Sirius (CA-SR20V) and the SCC1 sirius tuner, the ipod cable, plus boyo VTX420 backup camera. I did the install myself. Looking back was probably more work than I planned but outside of battling with trim pieces the wiring really was quite straightforward.

Now, on to the various bits and pieces of the unit and accessories:

I love the GPS, it's like the suction cup Garmins with a bigger screen. You can even interface it to a computer using the mini-usb plug on the back, just like the standalone garmin units. Using this connector you can swap out the voices, customize it etc. I have read where some people plug in a cable and leave it somewhere accessible so they can reach it easily without pulling it out of the dash. However, this is also where the GTM10 traffic receiver plugs in, so it diminishes the usefulness for me. Nonetheless, this isn't even an advertised feature, so I can't hardly fault them for not making it more convenient to use. The "official" method of updating maps and firmware is to use CD's / DVD's in the unit's drive, and this works well. One thing to note, however, if you receive a unit that has garmin firmware < 2.5, if you are upgrading to 2.5 you have to unplug the GTM10 traffic receiver or it will freeze up during upgrade. I thought I had bricked my unit, but found some hints online and managed to get the thing upgraded by temporarily unplugging the traffic receiver. Ironically, V2.5 actually fixes the problem where it hangs on firmware update when the traffic receiver is plugged in. I would highly recommend the GTM10 unit if you live in the coverage area. It's really cool to be able to have your gps take you home and route you around car wrecks and such. Also, it's easy to add custom POI's using a burned cd (or usb connector in the back).

The bluetooth: I like the way the bluetooth sounds (mic placement is key), it connects reliably. The whole hands-free-to-shift-and-steer-and-talk-yet-not-commit-vehicular-homicide feature is nice too. And it is kind of neat how well integrated it is with the phone. I see the battery strength, the signal strength etc up on my display. My blackberry 8830 (sprint) syncs fine, the phone book syncs fine, everything works the way it's supposed to. (If anyone is having issues with their bluetooth connecting to their blackberry etc, make sure you're on the latest firmware of both the deck and the bt unit itsself.) And now the bad: Voice dialing. My blackberry actually has very competent built-in voice dialing system. When I use my motorola earpiece, I can hit the button on it and say "dial so and so mobile" and it usually gets it right. However, the kenwood / parrot unit completely bypasses this functionality and replaces it with its own subpar system. Subpar is overly generous even. It's truly horrible, to the point where it's unusable. To voice dial, you have to: first record yourself saying the person's name. Then, after you have that person recorded as a voice dial preset, you have to hit the button for voice dialing, say the name, cross your fingers and hope it recognized what you said, then if all goes well it shows you the person's name, then you have to select the number, hit the button again to dial. It's far less accurate than my blackberry and I didn't even train it. It's easier just to use the 6 preset buttons they give you on the main screen . Less button presses overall, too bad they only give you 6. Still though, I like having my bluetooth integrated with my stereo, I like having the volume cut when I take a call automagically, I like not having to drive down the road wearing my earbud, or worse yet forget I have it in my ear and walk into the store and be "that guy".

Sirius: This interface is actually very nice. I will recommend that you switch to the 2 line display so that you can see the song info etc on the same screen with the presets. But this works great, very well integrated.

iPod interface: Poifect. One suggestion though: Make sure you leave the cable to where you can easily pull out the USB connector for use with thumb drives etc.

Sound: The unit sounds very good, much better than my factory deck (though that's not saying much). It even has a parametric EQ! That being said, it might be more usable if it had some low / mid / high knobs somewhere on the front (as someone else pointed out), but hey, if you're truly into tuning your sound, 3 band parametric EQ is nothing if not tunable. Not to mention complete overkill, but I digress... 99% of the population is going to look at "Q" and go "wuuuh?" Also it looks as though it has a built in xover, though I haven't dove into these features since I'm not using external amplification.

This is $3.00(inc'l s/h). You gotta be kidding me. I bought a charger from ebay that was $5.00 that almost bricked my Zune; the touchpad did not work for hours. I came on Amazon, then, and after reading the reviews, I gave it another try. It shipped by mail, to your mailbox, not UPS or Fed-Ex, which is why the shipping is so cheap. It came in a box and a tamper-proof bag. Good choice, haha./ I opened it, and speculated the quality. It was hecka lot higher quality than I expected. No loose connections, or uneven structure. The cord is about 3 1/2 feet long, which is acceptable. There is a charge indicating light, which is pretty convenient, to which I'm sure sure is really necessary, or functional, but that doesn't matter. I plugged it in, and the input to the Zune was too big to fit the case; it is wider than the OEM charger that comes with the Zune. You also have to wiggle it in to fit the charger into the Zune input. But, it's a minor hassle. It charges right when plugged in, and I'm satisfied. Yay

Pros: Cheap, quickly delivered

Functional, and has charge indicating light

Portable

Cons: A bit wider than the normal charger, is too wide to charge with case(Armor metallic silver) on.

Very slight effort to plug it into the Zune, which is very negligible.

When my Zune is done charging, the light is still red. As I predicted, these charge indicating lights are useless

Powerlet Basic Plug

Powerlet Basic PlugThe powerlet plugs, sockets and cables are high quality, durable, serviceable products. A little overpriced, but reliable. This plug is no exception. However I want to call out that this "basic" plug does not have any wire support built in, nor a grommet to secure the cable opening, and therefore the only cable support is the screw terminals themselves. I'm pretty sure a previous basic plug that I purchased a couple of years ago had a small cable clamp inside. If so, this is a change, and a missing necessary feature for most any application.

I happened to have a rubber grommet that was tight on the cable and filled the opening, which should be OK for my purposes.

Did the job perfectly. I used it to attach a small air compressor for emergency road service (motorcyling). The plug fits the receptacle and is easy to use.

Boss Electronics 2191 White Solar Charger for iPhone

Boss Electronics 2191 White Solar Charger for iPhoneThe charger met and exceeded my son's expectations. He uses it on his Boy Scout's trips and it comes in quite handy!!!!

I am the kind of person who panics when I see that my iPhone's battery is low, so I thought this would be perfect for outdoor events when charging with an outlet is impossible. Unfortunately, this charger doesn't fit the iPhone properly, so you have to physically hold it in place the entire time it's charging. Also, it charges v-e-r-y slowly, and only in direct sunlight. (It does charge when directly plugged into a computer, as well, but doesn't retain the charge--so it's not like you can charge it up at home and then use it at night.) All in all, it's okay if you happen to be standing in direct sunlight, and can hold it in place for an hour...but other than that it's not worth buying.

This product does not work. Don't waste your money. It won't charge my iPhone and it has been laying out in the sun for days nows.

Fosmon Premium Quality Retractable Car Auto Charger for Samsung Infuse 4G Smartphone

Fosmon Premium Quality Retractable Car Auto Charger for Samsung Infuse 4G SmartphoneI never write BAD reviews but this product was horrible......bought 2 one worked for about a week then wouldn't stay in without being manipulated(wrapping the excess cord around the phone) My husbands lasted a lil longer but left him on a jobsite with a dead phone! The "ends" that plug into the phone are poorly made......I guess the old saying "You get what you pay for" applies

Great idea, but be careful when removing phone, it will pull cords out of piece that fits inside your phone. 1st one did and so did second. But dealing with it because less cord.

The retractable cable is very thin and flimsy. The charge time is slow but good for travel. This is a universal charger so it will work with any phone that uses mini USB.

This charger stopped working within a week of purchasing. It worked great at first, I loved that the cord was not laying around my car. But it quickly stopped working. When plugged into the phone it would start to charge but would stop almost instantly.

I say spend a little more and buy a regular one.

Midland LXT600VP3 36-Channel GMRS with 26-Mile Range, NOAA Weather Alert, Rechargeable Batteries and Charger

  • NOAA Weather/All Hazard with Alert and Weather Scan
  • 121 Privacy Codes

  • 3 Level Vox for Hands Free Operation

We purchased two pairs of these radios so four of us could stay in touch during a large event on two levels of the Broward County Convention Center in Fort Lauderdale. The radios worked flawlessly. A BIG bonus is that they are small and lightweight. We are buying two more pairs today, for a total of eight radios.

We charged for 24 hours before first use, used them all day/12 hours, and batteries are still at full power. We were advised by a Midland rep NOT to leave the radios on the charger as a matter of course, but only to charge the radios when they actually needed it. It is on our checklist now to check radio battery life two days before event.

When you buy: They need a 24-hr charge before first use; and if you are running a large event, buy enough to give one of your radios to the venue rep for the duration of your event. It will save you a lot of running around looking for that person when you need them to act.

Love these radios.

Buy Midland LXT600VP3 36-Channel GMRS with 26-Mile Range, NOAA Weather Alert, Rechargeable Batteries an Now

I originally purchased one pair to stay in contact with my lead man on our shift in a manufacturing facility. Our department is extremely noisy, as we have numerous machines stamping out metal parts, forklifts beeping and driving by. I use the AVPH3 surveillance headset because my job entails that I use both hands working with pneumatic tools to set the dies to stamp the parts. When my Lead calls, I have no trouble hearing him, and answer him with the push-to-talk button clipped to my shirt.

After we used the 1st pair for a few days, we realized just how much more efficient we were working, so I ordered a second pair to give to operators so that we can be in constant contact with each other. Now, if there is a problem with one of the machines, I can ask them what the problem is, and avoid wasted time walking the 50 to 75 yards to survey the problem, and then walk back to get the necessary tools to fix the problem.

The in-ear headset also doubles as a sound-reducing ear plug, but still allows me to communicate with the crew. However, the clear plastic behind-the-ear spiral looks rather CIA/Secret Service, and I have had to put up with some ribbing from some of the other workers in the plant. If they only knew just how comfortable, and, convenient this headset is, they wouldn't rib for long.

Midland Radios has long been a leader in radio manufacturing, and that was one big selling point for my purchase. These are NOT cheap little toys, but, well-constructed, solid radios.

I would suggest to follow the instructions to give the units a 24 hour initial charge, and then to charge them only as needed, every 2 days or so.

All in all, I am very pleased with the quality, the performance, and the range that these radios provide. We may even decide to purchase a third set.

I decided to buy a pair of these.

I tried them out 11/03/2012 ref'ing a paintball game on a 2 1/2 acre field (mostly trees about 10% open space about .2 miles from one end to the other) with no difficulty on a FRS channel (Channel 9, CTCSS Sub-Channel 11). They also communicated well with my uniden radios.

The real test was yesterday (11/17/2012 ) when I was be ref'ing a much bigger event on a field that is almost 20 acres (mostly trees about 5% open space over 1/2 of a mile from one corner to the opposite corner)

They worked great! On the field they reached cleanly from one side of the field to the other (on channel 9, no sub-channel)... the longest line of sight thru dense wood that I had a chance to test was over a 1/3 mile... but better than that i had to run an errand and on the way back i used one from inside the car on the way back... they worked great from inside the car across about 1/2 mile from the responder at our registration area. About 1/2 that distance was woods and a large church building line of sight between us (That is much better than the uniden I have). I have no doubt I would get at least a mile thru dense wood. I probably won't get a chance to try them on a larger field until January. (If I don't post an update by Feb. 2013, ask for an update) (If I remember, I'll post a video of part of our field.)

Yes, I would buy another set.

The reason for only 4 stars is I haven't tried them at a really long distance yet. The largest field I've played on is Wayne's World (about 1/2mile x 1/3mile)()

Review Update:

January 19, 2013

I did order more radios.

We liked them so much we ordered 2 more radios. They went into use today.

I HUGE motivator for getting more of these radios is their battery life!

When we use them they are on continuously from just before 9am until about 2pm

The charge is lasting us 4 5 game days before they run out of a charge.

If I could bump my rating up to 4.5 stars, I would.

The reason for only 4 stars is still the same... I haven't tried them at a really long distance yet.

Review Update:

February 17, 2013

I now have 6 of these.

I tested them for distance yesterday (2/16/2013). On channel 11 (no sub-channel this time), I got 1.2 miles away in a mostly open area with some trees, and a hill preventing line of sight. There was an elevation difference too... about 100 feet. from the downhill radio the hill went up 100 feet over a distance of a 1/2 mile. I traveled level for a distance of almost 3/4 of a mile beyond that. At that distance the communication had a lot of static, but it was still very usable.

There's a picture of the test location (Fishhawk, Florida)in my facebook photos (facebook dot com /RickLiebespach)... The album titled "WFC Fields)

(There is a thin blue line from radio to radio, so you can see what was between us at our most distant conversation)

I suspect I could have gotten 1.5 miles, but I think my partner turned off his radio. This was using channel 11 (no sub-channel this time). This will serve my needs very well. (I play and referee paintball games on large fields)

As a result of this test, I am now upping my rating to 5 stars.

The product states that it has a 36 mile reach without anything in the way, such as trees and houses, etc. I live in suburbia Chicago, where everything is realtively flat. The true range of this product is somewhere in the neighborhood of half a mile, which is fine if your group or person you're communicating with gets lost or separated. It's a good trail radio. Bike trail.

The range is great! Used them in our neighborhood with exceptional clarity from a good distance (1/2 mile). Look forward to trying them for even farther distances. Would highly recommend.

Powermonkey-Explorer V2 - Yellow

Powermonkey-Explorer V2 - YellowI recently used the PowerMonkey and it worked great! I charged it before I left, used the charge and used the Solar panel to recharge it. Everything worked great. I highly recommend this product for those in the field.

I bought this for my husband as he takes long bike/camping trips on the north shore of Minnesota. We powered this up and charged his cell phone as a trial. His cell phone was completely out of juice. After the PowerMonkey eXplorer finished charging the cell phone, the bars on the PowerMonkey display hadn't changed and was still at full power. This will be invaluable on his bike trips. He also has a Nook and an iPod and this item will charge those, too! Amazing little thing and powerful! It will keep all his gadgets charged up and I won't have to worry about him being stuck somewhere without an uncharged phone! This would also be great on long overseas flights. We will try out the solar part of it next! Don't ever go anywhere without this cool little thing. Worth every penny!!

It worked fine for a month or so, but when I went camping and really needed it, the solar charger wouldn't fill up the battery pack. I left it in the sun for 2 hours, and the pack wouldn't even turn on to charge my phone.

Then when I recharged it using the wallcharger back home, the fully-loaded battery pack wouldn't even charge up my ipod touch fully with a full charge.

It's possible the version I got had a faulty battery or something, but since I tested it for a month before going out and it bailed on me at a critical juncture, I'm really soured on the PowerMonkey.

Solar Battery Charger Kit for 12V batteries. 68 Watt Includes all major components.

Solar Battery Charger Kit for 12V batteries. 68 Watt Includes all major components.I'm a system engineer and normally can figure out how to configure and install electronic and electrical.

this kit come with no instruction as how to install it. The single 30' MC cable has a female and a male connector one at each end. The charge controller is a screw on cable positions and is clear as to where the solar positive and negative cables should be hooked up and where the battery cables (+/-) should be connected. The issue is that the MC cable does not connect to the controller. There was no answer on the 800 number provided and no way to leave any voicemail.

So am I supposed to cut the 30' cable in half and connect the male and female connectors to the solar panels male/female connectors? Without instructions from the seller I'm not going to do that.

Also what gauge wires do I need to connect the controller to the batteries?

So the kit is not "Easy to Install" without any installation information.

I would not recomend This product.

This solar kit holds the second battery charged in my motorhome at 13.8 V when under the direct sunlight.

Although not bring installation instructions, this is easily done, but since the company's Web site can download the basic installation information.

A couple of questions I had when installing it (as if you cut the cable to connect the controller or to lack a complement to prevent the return of power to the solar panel to enter the vehicle's alternator operation) request information about them via e-mail to the company and were clarified by them very well and diligently.

For these reasons, from Caracas-Venezuela, I strongly recommend this product and the company behind it.

Powermate PMC105007 Vx Power Series 6,250 Watt 389cc Gas Powered Portable Generator

Powermate PMC105007 Vx Power Series 6,250 Watt 389cc Gas Powered Portable GeneratorFirst let me say that the shipping on this item was fantastic with Hurricane Sandy descending on us I searched Lowes and Home Depot for generators and they were sold out in a 3 1/2 hour radius of North Jersey I made the decision to buy this around 1PM on Thursday the 25th the shipping was going to be a few days they estimated Monday the 29th for delivery On Friday the 26th the trucking company called at 9AM to say they had my generator and could deliver on Saturday I chose to pick it up at the terminal just in case and had it in my hands at 10AM in just about 20 hours I can not praise Amazon & the trucking company enough for making this available -

OK now for the review The packaging was fine everything was 100% coming out of the box there were a few items like the wheels and handles that you had to assemble but they gave you the tools so it took less than 15 minutes after that you will need about 37oz of a 10W 30 Motor oil to fill it to capacity it holds 6.5 gallons of gas and will run around 10-11 hours on a full tank and half capacity -

Once it had gas and oil I followed the instructions pulled the choke out and on the second pull it fired right up Monday Night the 29th we lost power it has been running ever since usually 5 hours on 2 hours off then shut down from 10pm to 6am no issues what so ever restarts on first pull every time Have 1 full size refrigerator; heat (natural gas forced hot air), lights, TV & DVD player, laptop, phones charging, without a single hiccup wife and daughter have used hair dryer and it powers through all of it without an issue

Once it calms down going to buy a TRI Carburerator for it and covert it so that it can run on Gas/LP/NG costs about 200 bucks for the conversion kit and the hose but will save that in the cost of gas and the ability to run on 3 different fuels is a huge plus -

Like most portable generators it is loud, but it is bearable -

Happy with my purchase. Easy to install and get it started. Fast delivery. And it looks nice. I had reservations to buy such big item but everything went smoothly.

Retractable Cell Phone Car Charger for Motorola Droid A855 / CLIQ

Retractable Cell Phone Car Charger for Motorola Droid A855 / CLIQVery poorly made. The third time I extended and retracted the cord, it got stuck. When pulling it out, the plug pulled off and the rest of the cable fully retracted into the charger, you can't even get the cable out now. I am careful with the things I buy and this breakage was not due to "user error," but to extremely poor product quality. Yes, the product is much cheaper than the car chargers at the Verizon store. But what good is it if it breaks the first day you have it? Avoid this product!

--

UPDATE: I emailed the seller, Accessory Export, who replied immediately. They were apologetic and sincere. They shipped me a new one right away, without asking for me to return the broken one. The new one arrived a couple days later. After 24 hours of use, it has not broken. The cord doesn't retract all the way, and it still feels cheap like it could break at any time. But it does charge my phone.

I still recommend you avoid buying this product. I am not confident it will last very long. But I do recommend the seller, Accessory Export. I was very impressed with the service.

Here's a much better option for charging your portable devices in the car: search Amazon for "usb car charger" and get a list of car chargers that do not have a cable and plug to go into your device, but rather one or two standard USB jacks. Amazon has them ranging from $7 for a cheap no-name to a $10 Kensington to a $12 Scosche Dual USB Car Charger which has two USB jacks. These will charge ANYTHING that can charge from a USB jack. I bought the Scosche dual USB charger and have my iPod and my Droid plugged into it at the same time. Amazon sells plenty of different kinds of USB cables. You need one with a standard USB plug on one end, to plug into the charger, and on the other end whatever kind of plug your device takes. The Droid takes a micro USB plug. Blackberries and other devices take a mini USB plug. iPods have their own proprietary plug, but every iPod comes with a cable that will allow charging from one of these USB car chargers.

Yes, this is more expensive. But it's better quality, not likely to break, and very flexible in that you can charge most any device that plugs into a USB jack. It's worth considering.

I purchased this specifically for the retractability factor of the cord. Pulled it out of the package and pulled it out about 10 inches and pulled a bit more to make it go back in, nothing. Pulled out a few more inches then tried to get it to catch. Now I have a standard car charger that won't retract. It's essentially a piece of crap. Also a further note, the plastic gets super hot when you have it charging, don't know it is my car or the item causing it so basically I would say "Don't buy this junk."

Buy Retractable Cell Phone Car Charger for Motorola Droid A855 / CLIQ Now

I read a lot of the negative reviews, but I figured at the low price I would try it out myself. Maybe the company improved their charger because it works great for me. I bought 2 of these chargers, one for my car and one for my husband's. Both chargers worked great and charged our Motorola Droid phones with no problems and the retractable cord worked well. One charger did end up breaking when my husband forgot to unplug his phone from it and tried to get out of the car while the phone was still attached to the charger. I can't fault the charger for that. My other charger is still going strong though and for the low price, it is a great deal.
