Koolertron 4.5 Watt 12V Car Battery Charger Solar Power Panel

Koolertron 4.5 Watt 12V Car Battery Charger Solar Power PanelThis is one of the most cheaply constructed items I have ever seen. I have a slightly smaller solar panel that I use to keep a deer feeder charged throughout the winters – it cost $9 from Cabellas and better wires and connectors than this unit.

Does it work? I don't know yet – I did put it on a multi meter and it does produce 12 – 16v with mostly indirect light through a window with blinds. Don't even think that you are going to attach the alligator clips supplied to a car battery, not gonna happen. They are not made to attach to anything larger than a spring top battery.

The "instruction" sheet that came with the unit is amazingly incoherent, I'm attaching it below. Buy another unit…

(this is an EXACT cut and paste of the supplied instruction sheet kind of funny if you are not trying to actually learn anything from it).

Product Description: Product main function is to Juan flow through the solar charging for your car battery to supplement the battery part of the loss of power, the battery in the long-term power shortage in the state, not only environmentally friendly energy, and effective maintenance battery, extended battery use life, but also for other 12V rechargeable battery emergency charge. Flew it once. Recharged it. And it hasn't flown since. Trying to figure out the problem. Not worth sending back.

Purchased other S107's and I still have them flying. Just thought this 3 channel would be awesome, which it was until ......

These are really cool. I bought them as a gift and had the opportunity to fly them recently. They are mildly tricky to control but really fun. The batterly life isn't great, but that's pretty much true of all flying RC's. You get a lot of fun for a good price, so I'd recommened these!

2.5-inch Full HD 1080p Dashboard Car Camera DVR Blackbox F900LH

2.5-inch Full HD 1080p Dashboard Car Camera DVR Blackbox F900LH
  • 2.5" TFT LCD Display
  • Records in Native 1920*1080 Progressive (1080P), Supports recording in 1920*1080@25fps, 1440@1080@30fps, 1280*720@30fps, 640*480@30fps
  • 180 Degree swivel lens, 130 Degree Field-of-View
  • Supports up to 32GB SD card (not included), HDMI Port, MiniUSB Port
  • Loop recording

The only thing this camera does; is produce good quality videos. The instruction manual was lost in translation and is more of a set-up guide then a owners manual. There was no detail instructions of the features on the settings. But with some hit and miss' you can figure it out.

Pros:

Takes good quality videos. It uses about 1.7 GB memory for a 10 minute loop.

Loop recording works; allowing you different loop time options and overwriting older videos when the card becomes full

The suction cup window mounts is very secure and allows for several adjustments; allowing you in conjunction with the monitor able to rotate 270 degrees, and the lens rotating 180 degrees; multiple options in mounting your camera to the windshield.

The camera does stops recording when you turn off the car; and turns on and starts recording when you start the car.

Cons:

The motion sensor does not work. One time it worked; another time it recorded one minute loops; and while going 60 MPH it would stop recording and the the camera would shut off.

Auto shut-off does not work. I have the auto shut-off set for five minutes; but every time when I shut off the car; the camera records for thirty seconds and then shuts off.

Tripod is useless.

Had trouble inserting the memory card. Had to use a pen to install and latch the card in place.

I tried updating my Garmin Nuvi with the USB cable that came with camera. The Garmin had a fit (threw the cable away).

The HDMI did not work. I use the cable that was supplied and my own. The Sony Bravia showed that is was hooked up to the camera but no video or audio played on the TV.

Has digital zoom instead of a optical zoom.

Has a one year warranty; but did not include any warranty information.

Can use as a PC camera; I don't think so. No matter what I did I could not get out of mass storage mode when the camera is connected to the computer with a USB cable.

I have included three driving situations in the video. First part is driving on a sunny day with some shadows. The next part is driving at night, driving into a small town. The third part is driving about thirty minutes before sunrise. This was recorded in 1080P onto a class 10 SDHC 32 GB card.

The user manual doesn't make sense, written in poor english and with poorly drawn (and labeled) images. There is no indication of the amount of recording time (based on memory card size) or a complete list of options selectable from the menu items. The material is cheaply made.

The camera DOES however produce clear images (moving and still) and through testing I found the avi fies are limited to ten minutes each, when run overnight it will fill up the disk (memory module) and delete the older material in order to write new data (the main purpose) but that limited a 32gbyte module to two hours of actual avi files.

There is a socket to attach a tripod to (like normal cameras) but a strap holder prevents its use, two tripods that work for other cameras were unable to attach to the screw socket.

Battery life is extremely poor, after charging overnight it could not run more that 30 minutes on a full charge. An external power source will be required for anything over 20 minutes (car charger was supplied)

Excellent little Camera. The Picture is really great! The motion detection also works great. The battery was a big surprise, it last really a long time for such a small battery. It last about 2 hours or more. You have to charge the battery three times, and completely exhaust it three times to get the full benefit. I can tell you this is a great

little camera. Well worth the money. THANK YOU AMAZON!!!!!!!

Duracell DRINVP175 175-Watt Pocket Inverter with 2.1-Amp USB Port

Duracell DRINVP175 175-Watt Pocket Inverter with 2.1-Amp USB PortThis 12 volt inverter is smaller than I possibly could have imagined. At 4x2.5x1, it's about the size of a deck of cards. It weighs only 4oz so it's almost as if it's a hollowed out piece of plastic. Impressive! Previous inverters that I've used were about the size of a brick (and weighed almost that much). I was completely surprised when I saw how small and light this was.

While it advertises 175W support, that is white lie told by the marketers. The product clearly states it can *peak* at 175W but in normal operation, it is rated for 130W. This is a small but important difference. I wish they'd just tell the truth and call it a "130W inverter" but exaggerating and advertising peak values seems to be an industry norm. An example where this little lie might get you: the charger that came with my laptop is 150W and would not work with this inverter. That said, I never bring along my huge 150W laptop power supply when traveling.

This inverter seems to have a small fan which is inaudible unless you hold the inverter up to your ear. During 20 minutes of formal testing, the inverter reached an external temperature of about 100 degrees. If I shined my thermometer inside the air vents, I was able to get readings of 108 degrees. I'm guessing that this inverter gets quite warm to the touch after extended operation. I doubt that it is any different than other products like laptop power bricks. If I notice higher temperatures in extended usage, I'll update my review.

My kill-a-watt noted that the Duracell inverter provides 115.5 volts. This is a little less than I get in my house (118 volts). The power hertz was way down from what I get in my house. At home I get 59.9hz but the inverter provided between 24 and 37hz. The faceplate says it will 120volts @ 60hz but I'm not sure if this is an issue with the kill-a-watt or the inverter. I'm not a physicist so I don't really know what applications are impacted by the difference in frequency.

My first test of the Duracell inverter was to make use of its USB port to charge my phone. There wasn't much to this testI plugged the cell phone into the USB port and it started charging. I count this as a success.

My next test was to plug in my laptop using the aforementioned 150W power supply. The laptop did not show that it was charging and the inverter's green power light started flashing. It appeared to be protecting itself from drawing too much power. Another success.

Next I plugged my laptop's 60 watt power supply into the inverter and confirmed that my laptop was now charging. The kill-a-watt showed I was drawing about 40 watts and the laptop indicated that it was plugged in. More success.

My final test was my CPAP machine. I've always wanted to be able to sleep in the car when on long trips but I have sleep apnea and require a CPAP machine. I wasn't crazy enough to plug my heated humidifier into this but I did test the CPAP and it worked fine. The machine draws 25 watts when operational so it's a fairly light load. Still, I was quite happy to see this work as this could definitely be something I use when on long drives.

Overall, I think this inverter is a steal. The small size will truly fit in your pocket and it seems to have enough capacity for almost anything reasonable that you will try to do in your car (charge a laptop). It also includes a set of clamp cables that could attach directly to a car or marine battery. This would be a great, inexpensive power solution for someone that lives in a place that sometimes loses power. Of course, you'd be very constrained on the wattage you could use so I think this would only work in the case of emergencies. But if you were an avid camper and could some how drag along a battery, this might be a handy way to plug in something like a CPAP machine when in the middle of nowhere.

This small and lightweight inverter is ideal for charging a laptop and a USB-powered iPod, cellphone or similiar device. It runs on the quiet side and fits nicely inside a laptop carrier or inside a car's glove compartment. It's one of the smallest devices I have owned for my electronic gadgets while traveling and performs excellently. I use it both for a small 10" notebook and to recharge my Kindle.

Although it comes with 12-volt cable clips, using them while driving would be impractical but are an added bonus at a campsite where a more powerful electronic device would need to be charged, but then make sure the car battery doesn't get depleted. The manual states a two-hour run time off a car battery while idle, but why tempt it?

I appreciate the added safety features on this small inverter. It has an electronic overload protection with automatic shutdown (the ideal range is 130-170W of combined devices), a non-user replacable 25 A fuse, low battery voltage shutdown and high-input voltage protection with automatic shutdown. Although I haven't had this happen to me yet, it also comes with an overheat protection with automatic shutdown. All these features help prevent blow-outs and destruction of electronic cigarette lighters and other outputs.

Its one weakness is the cigarette lighter plug itself. It stands about three inches long, so if your car's cigarette lighter is positioned in a tight spot, this device may be awkward or impossible to use. If your car's lighter is in the front dashboard with no obstructions, though, and you have only a laptop and iPod/iPhone to charge, this little gadget is ideal. It comes with a three-year limited warranty.

The product works fine, but it fails to mention on amazon that this is 175 watts PEAK. On the device it reads 130 watts continuous, 175 watts peak. I bought this to charge my dell lattitude work laptop in my car and even with the laptop powered off it is unable to charge it. My laptop requires 150 watts so I thought I'd be covered with 175 but 130 isn't enought to get it done. I've been able to find other uses for it, and it works fine for charging camera batteries and handheld devices, but the ad is a little misleading.

Update: After re-reading the description, it does say "up to 100 watts compatability", but I still feel that should have been mentioned in the first line right next to "175". Still misleading, but I didn't read carefully enough.

This is my third inverter, and (just based on one test) this one is way, way, way quieter than my cheesy inverter from Walgreens and the cheesy (CyberPower) one from Walmart. As I understand almost all the noise is from tiny whiny fans, and the others sounded like high-pitched Dust Busters. By comparison this one was (for five minutes, at 40W) practically silent.

On the other hand, the box says it's 175 watts, but only if you hook it up directly to the car battery using the enclosed tiny jumper cables. Probably not what most people had in mind. The box says 175 watts peak power, 130 watts continuous (apparently with the jumpers), 120 watts (peak? continuous?) from the lighter socket. That's fine with me, but that's what it is.

Update: Year later, occasional use, still silent. As a 120-watt (peak?) inverter my experience is five-star. Just a truth-in-labeling issue.

I wanted something for charging my phone and to run my laptop in the car which this did adequately. Kudos and thanks for that. 5 stars in this application.

THEN I discovered I could use it while camping while attached to a car battery to power LED lighting and an audio system it did this but with significant issues. Assuming you are pulling 100W or less (I'd say keep it below 50W constant to avoid overheating), this thing still only puts out about 115VAC/50Hz, which is low compared to your home's 120-125VAC/60Hz. While this may be fine for the power supplies that charge your phone and laptop, some electronics are sensitive to this and will perform strangely or not at all with this kind of power.

100 feet of color changing LED string lights pulled a total of about 9 Watts, but the color patterns and cycling were all strange and distracting all of the pretty "fades" were very messy and distracting "steps". I've seen my 2.1 sound system (about 18W draw) have the volume function not work on occasion, volume had to be controlled at the source device. I had a 60W home theater with subwoofer running off this thing rather successfully, but the buttons controlling the amp would act weird or not at all. Returning these devices to clean house power or to my inverted generator power would yield perfect operation.

I suppose it could fry small motors or fragile electronics with it's low power over long term use, but it does do what it's meant to do quite well charge your small electronics off of a 12v system. Also note that it draws less power from the 12v source if it does not need it which conserves a 12v battery.

If you intend to run audio systems and LED lights off this thing and a 12v battery I'd recommend getting a more solid unit.

TomTom GO 920T Portable GPS Vehicle Navigator with Traffic Receiver

I purchased this over two weeks ago at Best Buy, here in Los Angeles for $599.99! Yes folks, thanks to Best Buy's notorious price difference on the web and in their infamous intranet, I made them honor what I saw at home on my computer! And yes, this was for the TomTom 920T!

It is slimmer, lighter, nicer and loaded with more features than any other portable GPS device in the market! Functions within the TomTom 920T are very similar to other models. I upgraded from the 910 and did notice some very good changes in its software, and in its ability to do a bit more configuration than on the TomTom 910.

One of the things that I like the most, aside from its new redesigned shape was its ability to search for different POI's (Points Of Interest) with better matching results while at the same time providing you a lot of additional information, such as distance, physical address, map overview, phone number (if available) and yes, the ability to dial it directly.

By the way, this is something that Garmin GPS devices have always been able to do, including searching restaurants by food type, e.g. Italian, Mexican, Chinese, etc. With the exception of this last search feature, I do believe that the new TomTom takes it one step further, which is good.

This upgraded feature is very important, because as most TomTom users know, previous versions of TomTom POI search, would just result in a long list of POI's matching what ever you input and nothing more. For example, if you typed Best Buy, you would get a list of all Best Buy stores in the county, but without any distance information, map preview, address or phone number!

This would obviously force you to route each resulting POI one by one, until you finally obtained the one that you really wanted, which was a waste of time! Well, not any more and I am very glad that TomTom made this very necessary upgrade!

Here is a list of things that I noticed:

The light sensor gone from the top and now sitting very discreetly in the front.

The remote control has been improved and is now Bluetooth.

It seems to me that it is somewhat faster in performing any commands faster than its predecessor.

Accepting spoken directions is a plus and has worked well for me so far, no complaints.

The screen is huge and seems to have been improved, because I now can see everything much better than on the previous model in bright sunny days.

The speaker sounds fragile with the default voice, compared to the 910, but sounds much better with a human voice and the music sounds great!

You can now hear all instructions through your car speakers by tuning it to an empty radio station. I tried it, but did not like it at all, too much static and sound is extremely low, could be because I live in downtown Los Angeles.

The included RF transmitter is a winner, it is very accurate in obtaining traffic data and I notice that it does so upon turning it on and it updates itself periodically as I am driving. However, it would have been better if they would have built it into the unit in order to avoid another wire from hanging from the unit.

Phone integration is great and fast, the sound quality is very good and I have been told by people who I call that it sounds very good. I make and receive between 200 to 300 calls a day, so this is a plus! Unfortunately, it does not sync well with my Palm Treo 750, so I miss out on many other TomTom extra features that requre my cell phone in order to be able to obtain data, such as weather information, map downloads, gas prices, etc.

I also do notice that its ability not to lose signal is improved, which is good, since as I have already mentioned, I live in downtown LA.

The included software is also great and much better than previous versions of TomTom Home.

What's in the box? The TomTom 910, the RF transmitter, car charger, windshield cradle, desktop cradle, remote control, software and manuals.

All in all it is a great GPS unit, very nicely and intelligently designed and the only reason I do not give it a 5 is because of the use of an external RF transmitter, instead of a built in one and lack of important travelling tools, such as those found in several of the Garmin units.

I feel that TomTom, given their current market share and being so strong in Europe should include different measurement and currency conversion tools, as well as a different language translator and a virtual tour guide program similar to those found in several of the Garmin units.

This thing fits in the pocket of your shirt! If I were sightseeing in France, I would want to have access to these types of tools!

However, to be fair, the new TomTom 920T does include a several great features not found in other units, specifically the Help Me feature which, will assist you in many emergencies such as in letting you know where you are, instruct you where to walk to your closest emergency assistance point or even guide you in applying first aid!

I highly recommended to anyone and I do hope that TomTom will improve their already magnificent product with the suggestions that I have made, maybe one day TomTom will team up with Google and provide similar information as MSN does for the Garmin NUVI.

Buy TomTom GO 920T Portable GPS Vehicle Navigator with Traffic Receiver Now

I had researched for a long time before I choose to go with the TomTom 920T. I wanted it because it had all the extras that I like and might use. Sure Garmin had some extras but for the money I thought this was the best.

Now after having it for awhile I am pleased to say that it is a great GPS. It has some features that were never mentioned that I was worried it wouldn't have like the ability to save your current GPS position so you can come back to it later. Also it has the ability to enter in actual coordinates incase you ever want to go Geo caching. I love the Traffic feature although in a lot of cases traffic is unavoidable but at least this way you know what to expect.

Two things it lacks that are small that I wish it had. In order to cancel a route I think it is lame that you have to move through a couple screens just to cancel your route you would think it would be up in the front of the controls. And I wish it had a base that was mounted in your car that it clipped into rather than pulling the wires off each and every time you take it in and out of the car. Why not leave them hooked to a base that the GPS plugs into like Magellan.

The traffic antenna sticks to the windshield I thought it would be more annoying but it isn't bad if you have the TMC.

For the most part I love it. I love how you can record you own voices which I did of my kids and their cute voices give me seamless directions to where ever I want. You can download a lot of voices off the internet for free at some sites. The GPS connection is amazing I can even track them in my house as long as I am in site of a window no matter if I can see the sky or not.

I love the voice ability to speak the address you are going to. However if you're going to make a GPS were you can speak the address make is so I can say ok or route at the end rather than tap the ok button. I mean why go through that whole process and make me hit one button at the end. Other than that it picks up my voice and is more accurate than I ever would have expected.

It has a thousand more features that I was not expecting that are pluses that I never thought it would have but the list is too long to name.

If you have the means I would pick one up.

EDIT #2:

I won't alter the original review below. But I want to put a final summary at the beginning:

Get a Garmin and save yourself a lot of headache and frustration and awful user interface. Get a Garmin if you like knowing which side of the road your destination is, and getting really good POIs, and better customer service, better everything really.

I will never get another TomTom again. I can't change the number of stars now, If I could, I'd give this a 1 now. I've never reset anything so many times to get it working.

ORIGINAL REVIEW:

I used to have a Garmin Nuvi 350 (older and cheaper) which got lost so I bought this figuring both TomToms and Garmins would be good choices and this was a good chance to try the other company! (I can't help compare this to my old Garmin because that was my first GPS unit and I liked it).

Observations in no particular order:

-You can only save 48 favorite locations (I have no idea why). If you have too many favorites, you can save them as POIs but then when you want to navigate to these points, you have to pick the state and city first and then the POI instead of just a favorite. (You can create your own POI category and call it "friends" and put favorites in it but it's more work)

-I really like that I can set it to ask me if I want to take the fastest or shortest route every time I put a route in. This is really nice if something is near and you don't want it to tell you to go to major roads to get there. This option was buried in the Garmin and was aa pain to get to every time.

-I really like the avoid the toll roads feature

-The Mac support isn't as good. I have a Mac and the software is up to version 1.6 on the Mac and 2.1 on Windows. I had to find a Windows machine to be able to set a password on it. I realize the Mac version is on it's way but it's just unprofessional of them to say it works with Mac when it's not as good.

-I like the Garmin better for finding gas stations while you're on the road. The Garmin would show you the list and point an arrow which direction it's at and how far. The TomTom is a bit strange.

-It finds satellites really, really fast, and if they are lost it estimates where you are based on your speed.

-The POIs are also strange. I won't say which is better but both units found POIs the other didn't. The Garmin was better organized.

-It works well with my phone and iPod and FM transmits to my car all at the same time.

-It has light and sound sensors and adjusts itself accordingly.

-The SD card slot is sealed up with a "No SD required" sticker.

-The display is very nice.

-Maps update incrementally when you connect it to a computer.

-If you use the provided antenna for traffic, it's free (I'm not sure if that's true with Garmins, I really don't know for sure, I just got that impression from the Garmin specs).

-It feels well built.

-It doesn't have an accessory that just sits on the dashboard, all the mounts are suction or adhesive.

-Garmin's user interface is better. This isn't bad though.

-Having to reroute because of an obstacle or finding alternat routes is better on the TomTom though.

THE REMOTE: I did a number on the remote trying to open it to put the batteries in. Push the little tab FORWARD (toward the front), then INWARD (toward the face of the remote). The tab is part of the face of the remote so pushing it in will push out the faceplate. Because of the lack of careful instructions and my anger and frustration I really marred the tab.

This would be perfect if it had WiFi buit in so it didn't depend on a specific computer platform or having data plans with cell phone providers to update maps. Or if it could pair with a computer via bluetooth since it's in there already. With such a big price tag they should have either had more than 4 GB of memory that's already almost full out of the box or kept the SD card slot for more memory (as the other reviewer was saying about voice recognition in different areas).

I like it, and I'm glad I got it, but if I had to buy another GPS (which I hope isn't anytime soon!) I would get a Garmin instead.

EDIT:

I had to go to go to Chicago and downtown Detroit (I've never been to either city before).

-I'm convinced it tried to kill me in Detroit. I'd get on a freeway from the left and immediately it wanted me to take the exit on the right 3 lanes across...

-It doesn't tell you whether you destination is on the left or right. So I'm in the middle of the city and it tells me I've arrived and I have no idea which lane I should have been in or which way I should go. I really missed my old Garmin in this regard.

-Avoiding Toll roads worked like a charm.

-The same port is used for the iPod and the traffic antenna. I couldn't use both at the same time.

-The iPod volume is a lot lower than the instructions to the point where if I want to listen the iPod at a hearing level, I get blasted with instructions because it's SO much louder. I can't seem to control it.

-There is no way to get the destination address from the unit. I had my friend's address in there as a favorite. It told me I was there but it wasn't exactly right (which is ok, no GPS is exactly right) but I didn't have the address handy and it wouldn't show me the address. So I was parked on the street trying to find my friend's address on my laptop instead. (Again Garmins do better in this regard).

The new mac software (v2) has been released but it still would not back up the unit because of some error so I manually copied the content to my computer (I hope this is a good way to be able to restore it if something happens). I still can't operate it from the mac to change the password for example.

I have since learned that password protecting the unit is useless since a thief can just replace the files on it and doesn't need to know the password.

I hope this is helpful to you.

Want TomTom GO 920T Portable GPS Vehicle Navigator with Traffic Receiver Discount?

This is my first TomTom and but not my first GPS units.

I asked for and received this as a Christmas present but I found many things I didn't like about it in the first few days and have since returned the unit for the following reason.

1) I really wanted the remote control that came with this unit. I have one on my old Garmin 2610 and use it all the time. The TomTom 920T remote will not allow you to pan the map. It's very limited in what it can do.

2) I wanted voice control but this unit still requires you to hit buttons after giving a voice command.

3) I wanted to try real traffic updates but the traffic recieve antenna is a 5 foot long black wire that I would have had to drape across my dash.

4) The POI features are both limited and just plain wrong in many case. If I search for a beach I got towns with the word beach in their names and I couldn't even search for restaurant by type of food like I could with my old Garmin.

5) For three days I was unable to access TomTom support either by phone or the automated web support. (I know it was just after Christmas but Garmins support site was running fine)

6) My last big issue is that it can just route poor. I tried all the settings and it still sent me the wrong way (and no it's not just my opinion, some, not all, routes were stupid). I had no confidence in the unit to send somewhere when I didn't know where I was going.

The unit did look good and was very "customizable". It could get you where you are going but not the always by the best route. I was hoping that I could download TomToms latest software at the TomTom site but after three days of their support site being down I choose to return the system.

PRO: The unit navigates well and find the satellites quicker then competition.

smoother refresh then competition and I like the graphics.

The unit feels well built

CONS: I purchased my unit from the US but TOMTOM is misleading on there advertisements that do not disclose everything. I assumed my unit will work in Europe just as in the US. Well that is not the case.

1) Voice address input: If you purchased your unit in the US, the voice input only works in the North America maps. Your unit will not have the voice address input capabilities for the Europe map. I contacted support and they said that I need to delete the North America map voice address input files and install the Europe voice input files. I asked why not both are on there? Well I came to find out that the internal 4Gig flash card is not enough to hold both. So you have to do this fix manually each time you change maps between Europe or North America. Delete a set of files and replace with the other set and vice-versa each time you travel between Europe or North America.

2) Since my unit is purchased in the US, the Traffic cable (RDS-TMC) only works in the US and not in Europe. I have to purchase another Traffic cable (RDS-RMC) for Europe.

None of this is disclosed and I believe these are a combination of false advertisement on the box for item 1 and 2...and a design software flaw for item 1 above.

3) Competition build-in speaker sound quality is much better then the 920T

In the US, this opens the company to potential lawsuits. Hopefully TOMTOM will do the right thing to correct the information on the boxes and website and offer the current owners some kind of compensation since the unit does not do everything it says it does.

Schumacher INC-2405 Automatic Microprocessor Charger

Schumacher INC-2405 Automatic Microprocessor ChargerI bought this charger to charge my new Earthwise 24v Lawnmower I bought here on Amazon. I sold the charger that came with the lawnmower on e-bay. I bought 5 Amp instead of 2 Amp so I don't have to wait forever for the battery to charge. You can read my review for the lawnmower on how to connect to the battery. It charged the battery in 8 hours (compared to 24 hours and not fully charged with supplied charger). It has monitoring system, which is great if you do not want to disconnect the batter every time it is charged. I watched some videos on youtube and it is highly recommended.

I'm really happy with this smart charger and I strongly recommend it.

I bought this charger on the recommendation of M. Shatila to avoid damaging the battery on my Earthwise model 60120 lawn mower with the OEM charger that overcharges the battery if it is connected too long. I later bought an Earthwise model 60214 lawn mower, which also has a 24 volt battery, and used this charger for it as well. It worked great for the first 9 months I had it, but then suddenly something failed that caused it to continue charging the battery until it was completely destroyed. I've uploaded some photos to show the end result, which shows that the battery cells got so hot that they literally expanded and the plastic casing melted. There was also a lot of acid spillage, since these batteries are not the dry AGM type. This occurred while the battery was being charged inside the house, and created a mess. So, I can no longer recommend this product, which failed to safely switch to a low trickle charge state after the battery was charged, which is precisely what I bought it for in the first place.

I use this 24 volt charger on my Flow boat lift. I fasten it to the frame under the canopy and recharge the lift batteries over night about once a month. It is small enough to leave attached to the lift all summer while also being strong enough to charge the batteries over night.

After more than 36 hours connected to my 24-volt battery on my lawnmower, the indicator light that is supposed to turn green when the battery is charged is STILL red. I may have to splice the connector into my original, 'dumb' 24-volt charger which required just under 24 hours to charge the battery fully.

I checked the voltage being provided by the charger, about 0.02 volt although it was 36 volts previously.

Boo-hiss.

UPDATE: I just finished reviewing my splicing and the polarity of my connector. It absolutely is correct according to continuity and after re-reviewing the diagram in the manual, as well as the polarity of the plug as indicated on the device. Maybe I will have to have the charger replaced due to a faulty part, and maybe I'll have them replace my lawnmower battery if it cannot be charged.

Bluetooth Car Kit Speakerphone with Multi-point, Echo Cancellation & Noise Suppression for all Moto

Bluetooth Car Kit Speakerphone with Multi-point, Echo Cancellation & Noise Suppression for all Motorola phonesThis is my second one of these bluetooths. The first one didn't break, it got stolen from my car. I had it for about two years and I was so happy with it that I didn't want to replace it with anything else, so I'm glad they still make them. The battery seems to last forever. Every few months, I decide to recharge it just in case, but I've never had the battery die on me. I just don't get it, it never dies. I hear perfectly on it and I've never had anyone ask me to repeat anything or tell me they couldn't hear me. It couldn't be easier to program or operate. I hope this one lasts forever or that they never stop making them.

It was time to face the reality that holding a phone to my ear/face was not only unsafe, it was frustrating. I looked at a lot of options for a hands-free system and chose this one with my fingers crossed. That trick must work sometimes because this was an easy and effective way to keep the phone in my pocket and my eyes on the road. It was easy to set up and works well. Those I talk to have no problem hearing me with the unit attached to the visor over the driver's seat.

Downsides: I haven't figured out how to integrate it with the speak-to-call and message reading systems of the phone. I don't know if that will work, but it doesn't work out of the box. Also, I have to train myself to turn it off when I leave the car. It has such a long range that I can be 50 feet from the unit and it still picks up the calls so I have to put the phone on speaker to hear the caller. There's always something.

Fosmon Premium Quality Retractable Car Auto Charger for Samsung Epic 4G Sprint Smartphone

Fosmon Premium Quality Retractable Car Auto Charger for Samsung Epic 4G Sprint SmartphoneAfter buying a Rocketfish car charger at Best Buy for my Samsung Epic 4G phone and learning the charger didn't deliver enough current (600ma) to trigger a change in the battery status to a charging mode, I returned that $22 charger and bought this one on the hopes it would work. Well, same issue...it didn't. There are no markings on the charger to indicate it's current rating, and I think one rated at least 750ma (same as the a/c indoor charger) is needed. I've been using a single USB port/car charger plug rated at 1A with USB/microUSB cable and that has worked fine with the Samsung Epic 4G, but I liked the idea of this retractable cord style of charger. Too bad it's useless. The cord was a bit short for my preferred way of using it in the car with a glove box power socket, but it was usable.

I love this car charger. It is retractable and I love it. My old car charger was broken due to someone stepping on the cord. This one I do not have to worry about that. Also the cord stretches long enough to charge someone's phone in the backseat. Great purchase!!

the service was great, however, the product leaves a lot to be desired. supposedly, there is a retractable cord. The first one that arrived, the cord did not retract; notified the company and they sent a new one. The cord on the second one did not retract. So, I just use the car charger with the cord hanging down...it works fine. The company was very good about replacing the original.

The title of the review says it all. The only part that feels flimsy is the cord itself since it is super thin (likely for easy retraction) but the retraction mechanism works great and the charger works as expected.

FYII'm using it for a Samsung Epic 4G.

  • Audio Recording, Real-Time Recording; With the camera holder, you can fix it on the car dashboard or car windshield very easily
  • Video format: AVI; Repeat storage by section:2/5/15 minutes; Still JPEG Image Storage Format ; Record Resolution:1280 x 960 pixels/ 720 X 480 pixels/ 640 X 480 pixels

The day time recording is very good but night time recording is not good. The image does not rotate with camera so if you mount it atop your dashboard like I did with the screen on the top everything records upside down so when you put it on your computer you will have to use a video editing software to rotate the video right side up. I did not use the supplied windshield mount because I did not want to create a blind spot in my windshield.

This was a disappointment. Upon arrival I immediately noticed the LCD was cracked. While it was still view-able I wanted to see if it lived up to other expectations. It didn't. By now everyone should know the manual is a joke. Hardest part of the setup was learning that the "OK" button is actually the red record button. After that it was easy to set up all remaining options. Two big disappointments on the unit was that, when recording, the red record button is blinking red. While some may find it comforting to know it is actually recording, I want this to be invisible to me and my passengers until its needed. Second is the video quality. Perhaps this unit was bad due to the LCD damage but it was horribly out of focus. And it is most certainly not HD even if it was. I set the resolution to 720 and the picture was grainy. Amazon is awesome as well on the return.

This product comes with a sloppy packing, broken parts. You can tell it was opened before. Would not recommend to buy!

Want HD Portable DVR with 2.5" TFT LCD Screen Vehicle Backup Car Cameras LCD 270° LSRotator - 6 IR LED Discount?

I had purchased one of these cameras before for one of my cameras. It worked so well that I ordered another for the wifes car.

The instructions are confusing, but with a little experimenting you can set it up. True you cannot see things real plain, but for what you are paying for this camera it does the job. The nite vision is almost useless.

This dashboard camera works, but... not without issues. The user manual is very poor and I have not been able to get the camera to loop, write over past recordings. It says it reports the memory full with just 10 minutes of recording on a 2 gb card. This would work if it would loop and overwrite. I would tell you to look for a better unit. I will.

GudCraft 10W 15W Max Vertical Wind Turbine Wind Generator

GudCraft 10W 15W Max Vertical Wind Turbine Wind GeneratorI purchased this wind turbine because I like the longevity and stability of the VAWT design and because I was looking for a small device that could power small battery packs for use in extended camping.

The product came securely packed in foam with no damage to any of the parts. As I removed the parts from the packaging I immediately realized that the list price of this product should probably have been no more than $40.00.

The generator assembly and the pillar are quite heavy and appear to be made of cast iron. They are much larger and heavier than a 50W generator I already have. The entire device weights 72 oz (4.5 lbs). The pillar alone weights 19 oz with the generator taking up most of the rest of the weight. The generator assembly spins very smoothly. When the pillar is connected to the generator the axis extending up from the generator is not vertical. It appears that the pipe comprising the pillar was cut at an angle before the top plate was welded into position. This creates mounting problems.

The blades appear to be made of cast aluminum and are airfoil shaped. One of the blades was flattened in the middle as if a large weight had stamped it. Each blade has two rivets that are used to hold it in place on the horizontal flanges. Unfortunately, the rivets are not uniformly placed. Some are higher or lower than others. This means that when the device is assembled the flanges cannot be perfectly horizontal. The blades are strong and should last a long time.

The weakness of the entire system are the horizontal flanges that connect the blades to the generator axis. They appear to be of very thin stamped aluminum. When you pick them up by the center the outer edges droop. They should have been made thicker. Further, the slots at the outer edge of the flange where the blades are to be inserted are smaller than the blades. This means you have to enlarge the hole in the flange (a dangerous proposition when they are so flimsy) or trim off part of the trailing edge of the blade. Even with the trailing edge trimmed, they are very difficult to insert into place. The weight of the blade can bend the end of the flange if you let go of it. You must support the flange while forcing the blade into the hole. You must take your time and be very careful.

Once the entire device is put together you must treat it very delicately. The weight of the generator and pillar can easily damage the flanges. After spending over two hours putting the device together I took it outside to see if it would turn in the wind. It is not exactly a "low wind" generator, but it does turn. During a lull in the wind I set it on a flat surface. A small gust of wind tipped the device over. It fell on its side permanently damaging the flanges. If you attach this device to a load, be sure that the blades are not spinning. Otherwise the axis may tear through the flanges as the generator resistance

increases.

If the manufacturer will take care of the flanges and make the top of the pillar horizontal this could be a great product. Until then you probably shouldn't waste your money.

It comes unassembled, and no instructions. See that DVD on "what's in the box"? It's not in the box. I went to the Gudcraft website, and the tech forum guy e-mailed me a PDF on how to put it together. OK, so I put it together, now what? There are 2 PC boards hanging by wires, what are they? How do you hook it up to a battery? Hello! I called them in Washington, and although the woman who answered the phone tried to be helpful, I was on hold for so long, I eventually got disconnected. But she did tell me there was no DVD, they sent a paper manual. Yes, but the paper manual that I was emailed only tells you how to put the blades on.... I'm still hopeful that I will get this on my travel trailer, and add wind power to my solar, and I'm hoping, it will indeed charge a car battery like I was told by tech support. But this lack of instructions is just plain stupid, and I hope this wind generator performs better than the good folks at GudCraft.

This vertical turbine wind generator came with no instructions or paperwork whatsoever nothing about assembly or the electronics needed to connect it. After calling the manufacturer and then downloading assembly instructions (still nothing on the circuit needs) it never turned even one revolution when set up in a windy location. Unless you live on the shore or in some other VERY windy place, I don't recommend this unit to anyone. I returned it as a defective design.

I have to agree with others as there is no manual so I looked at the picture on amazon to see which way the blades went on. After putting it together I found out the generator is an alternator, the blade direction doesn't matter. It appears the turbine is a 3 phase alternator which didn't matter which way I spun the blades to produce electricity. The plug with a circuit board on it has keyed plugs so you can't plug in the board the wrong way but if you must know it is a full wave bridge rectifier for the 3 phase input with a filter capacitor on the output of the diodes and a 7812 voltage regulator to keep the output voltage to 12v dc. The Red and Black wires are the output of the 12 volts and there is a spare plug on the end so you can hook up to it via soldering. You could just cut off the plug for the red/black wires and tie them into your circuit. I turned on a fan in my room to test the turbine with and was able to get 8-9v with the fan on high which was enough to give me .02 amps on my solar charger which boosts the voltage to the 12v battery to trickle charge it. Although the blades go on very tight, I used a small needle nose pliers to pound down the arms. The arms need to be tight to keep the blades from sliding around and getting loose and sloppy. Personally I have no trouble with the turbine and like the small size of it and with my charger it doesn't have to produce 12v to charge my battery. It appears to be very quiet running. So far So good. Time will tell on how long it runs without problems.

Thor TH1500 1500 Watt Modified Sine Wave Power Inverter

Thor TH1500 1500 Watt Modified Sine Wave Power InverterI had read great reviews for Thor inverters, I bought to run a printer in my wife's car. After hooking it up properly, it would turn on, as soon as I turned the printer on it would shut down. I then tried a compressor same thing, then a circular saw and yet again it would shut off. I plugged a 60 watt lamp into it and finally it worked. Everything I tried was not even close to this inverters limits. Milwaukee 0780-20 28 Volt Wet/Dry Vacuum,

Milwaukee 0780-20 28-Volt Cordless Wet/Dry VacuumFirst, it should be obvious that this is a bare tool. The batteries/charger cost more than the unit. Therefore, it is good if you have other V28 tools.

Next, somewhere someone commented that this is as powerful as a corded vac. It is not. A normal shop vac is around 1000W to 1500W, and it is unrealistic to expect this little portable guy with a 1-1/4" hose to have the same power. It just isn't as powerful.

But, it has a very usable power for my intended purpose, which is to say, it has enough power to clean up a small "mess" without having to lug out a real vac. I find I'm also using it for a surprising amount of small around the house/in the car cleaning/dusting since it is so conveniently portable. The cordless portability is the reason to buy.

A major compromise between power and battery life is that the battery (a big V28 mind you) only lasts maybe 5 minutes. This is enough for a small project clean-up, but don't expect it to clean up your shop. On the plus side, it uses 1-1/4" accessories which concentrate the available suction well and which are also the standard size for home vacuum cleaners. This item does not come with a dust brush attachment which I considered a necessity, but luckily I just bought one for a regular home vac.

The hose is VERY flexible which is nice. It accordians down to a small U-shaped unit which fits into a holder on the side when not in use. If I get a chance, I'll post a pic since this was one of my questions when purchasing it. It is fairly easy to carry in one hand and vacuum with the other.

I cannot quite give it 5 stars because I think it is still a bit overpriced, and some parts like the hinges, etc., seem a bit on the cheap side and clunky to use. I cannot comment on long-term durability yet. Hope this review helps you.

I was excited to make this purchase and am glad I did. This is so handy and I find myself reaching for it all the time because it is so quick. One of the best things I found out about this unit, is that you can put the hose into two ports, one for suction and another for blowing. I use the blowing feature for cleaning out computers and filters. Works great. Absolutely love it.

Buy Milwaukee 0780-20 28 Volt Wet/Dry Vacuum, Now

This quality, powerful, suitcase-style vacuum was designed with the craftsman and home workshop in mind. If you already have the V28 batteries for other Milwaukee tools, you will find a use for this vacuum. It costs less than one V28 battery. Many work shops have several stations and dragging a hefty shop vac around on rollers through a maze becomes a real pain. It is also great for the commercial handyman who travels to people's homes to do odd jobs and is neat enough in appearance to please the lady who wants the shelves in her bedroom swapped with the shelves in her closet and a new do-dad added on to where the old do-hickey used to be hanging. For electricians and plumbers who sometimes work without power, this makes clean-up by either blowing or vacuuming a breeze. The self-contained, box shape with carrying handle makes transportation simple. Granted, if I didn't already have several V28 batteries, this tool would not have been an option. However, a man can not have too many tools.

Best yet cordless vac, tops all the DeWalt 18 volt I own. Sucks like a corded unit. I would buy it again.

Nothing compares to this vacuum. Anyone complaining about battery life or saying your better off with a regular plug in vacuum is an idiot. It's great for small jobs but I get by with just using it instead of a huge corded vacuum on any job site. I find I use it more than a standard large vacuum because it is so portable. I've also used it to drain supply lines so they can be soldered for plumbing repairs (a real time saver). It's also great for hard to reach areas where a cord is just not in the cards. It's compact size makes it practical to carry in the truck daily which nay, ales your work better. If your on the fence hope off and get this vacuum!
